Just found this cat right now. Straight DOPE right here! Another dope artist to add to my underground collection. That's what I love about underground hip-hop. There's SO much of it and it's all dope. All about lyrics and passion > money & fame. FUCK MAINSTREAM, UNDERGROUND FOREVER.

I used to listen to wayne, kanye, etc. but once I started delving into the world of underground rap I never listen to those guys anymore because they have NO substance and I like my music to be meaningful. In the words of the Slug "There's no substance in your cup, just a whole bunch of crushed ice."

AMEN drewhadou, there are performers and there are MC's and sugarfree he is quite underrated, makes his own beats at shows with sounds from the audience the only MC I've EVER seen do that and the Eyedea and friends tour he was a part of was the most ebulliently sonorous freestyle session I've ever been fortunate enough to witness.

@TMarche I actually read that he had been making a followup album but didn't finish it before He died. And they're releasing the unfinished work in a month or two. Can't remember where I read it but I think it was a pretty reliable source

You cant compare lil wayne and these type of guys...... two different genres, this is more poetic and thoughtful......while I love the others also like Gucci mane and lil wayne they are different tjheyre GANGSTER rappers........ If you dont like SQ1- SQ7 by lil wayne there is somehtin wrong with you

Even though I like all of Kristoff Kranes material, I don't think anything will ever top this abzorbr record. A classic that has been time proven for myself.

Abzorbr, Aesop Rock, No Bird Sing, Eyedea,Sole, Zach De La Rocha, Sage Francis, Saul Williams. if assclowns like Lil Wayne or Kanye West tried to see ANY of those guys, they'd quit rapping immediately after shitting themselves. THESE guys are artists, THESE guys are the face of Hip-Hop, those mainstream assholes are just the outer clothing.

@DrWillHird Kanye West is a good musician. a complete douche, but a good musician all the same. good however doesn't trump the lyrical, instrumental, stylistic, or precussive skills that my aforementioned emcees bring to the table. in a phrase, Kanye is "good", the guys i named are "amazing". big difference. aside from that, you failed to explain how assclowns like Lil Wayne are "talented". my qualm isn't with them being mainstream, its their mediocore skills they try classifying as "genius"

and a lot of people are, its personal preference. but if your looking at the lyrics itself you will notice that both artists show true skill and try to get the listener to really LISTEN to what they are trygin to say.

He's on Crushkill Recordings based out of St. Paul. The only other band on Crushkill is Carbon Carousel, Eyedea's new rock band.
