What most people don't realize is that the combat arms branches of both the Army and the Marines (Infantry, tanks, artillery, special ops) are all still 100% male. You have it wrong. US troops did not lose that war. It was decided in Washington to no longer support South Vietnam after the peace was signed with the North in Jan 1973. It was the North that broke the peace treaty in 1975 and still Washington refused to send help to South Vietnam when there were no US troops in South Vietnam.
