Thing is, how small can the bits be. I work on ladies watches sometimes. The lever arbors are the smallest of all. One I had was .004 inch, 4 units from zero. I tried to shape an existing carbide bit, but even diamond wheel did not work because the bit would scrape off the diamond coating when diamond wheel held stationary and bit put in dremel. I think spinning the diamond wheel would avoid that problem, but would easily break that small of a carbide drill bit. Any suggestions..? RJ
The part where the drill enters is not designed by me. This was designed in late 1800's early 1900's. I used preexisting watchmakers pivot drill and added accessories to it to accommodate modern day drilling.
I hve never seen a pivot lathe with an attachment to drill centers like that before. Did you make that part, or did it come with the pivot lathe? That has got to be one of the most useful tools I have ever seen.

Try using Mississippi Stone. It will take time to sharpen it but its very strong and most likely you will be able to sharpen your bit.
Good Luck

I like the design, but could you make the part where the drill enters to be longer, or rather deeper so theres less chance of the drill bit breaking?
