I don't think Pyramid Head is restricted to James. I think he is the punisher of Silent Hill, and goes to someone to make them realize their sins, and to relieve them of the pain, one way or another. Alex's dad in Homecoming is guilty for mistreating Alex, and James has guilt for killing Mary, I think that he takes on characteristics of his victims, James' sexual frustration for example. Or the way he ignores Alex in homecoming, just like his father.

Im gonna sya this. Pyramid Head WAS restricted to James. It was HIS creation. It was HIS punishment. Somehow, the Developers of SH forgot that every monster in Silent Hill is PERSONAL to each person (Cheryl being the exception as she pretty much broadcasts her nightmares).

Pyramid Head was brought back as a treatment to treat FANS. That was it.

I always thought that the pyramid head in SHH and the movie weren't the real pyramid head and were supposed to be the executioners from toluca prison. The only real pyramid head was in SH2.

Hell it may be a stupid explanation but it's better than having the one that "it was fan service". And although I will be hated for this, I was 1 of the fans who were happy for the return of pyramid head.

gonna say SH2 was absolutely haunting and brilliant. i thought the 1st movie could have been worse.- though could have been a tad better too .. but i cant wait to see the sh2 movie- i think pyramid head exists in SH therefore isnt WRONG that he was in the first movie.. but not '100% accurate to the stories.. but really sh2 has a ton of heart .. the music is brilliant.

Silent Hill 2 was not a movie, it is one of the greatest video games of all time. The Silent Hill movie was rubbish, (apart from the effects) it should have been a Japanese production of the original game's story line with an American cast and the correct characters. Pyramid Head should not have been in the movie as he was part of James' story from the SH2 game.

The point about pyramid head, he is all part of James' story, but he is also an icon to the series and has had several re-aperances through out the series. I didn't find the movie all that bad, when you compare it to most video game movies, it could of been alot worse, could you imagin it if Uwi Boll directed it?

@sl1963 I didn't mind the movie much. I merely looked at it as an alternate take on Silent Hill. For a movie merely based on the game, they stuck with it pretty close. Though, Pyramid Head being in the movie also didn't make sense because Pyramid Head was a manifestation of guilt. The characters in the movie were merely determined.

Then again, he was also in Homecoming. So maybe he is somehow physically real in a sense. Reoccurring the same for different people, but with a different task.

Big difference was that Alex did it on accident, which would explain why Pyramid Head never followed nor attacked him like it did James.
