  • Oh he's so handsome... :3

  • I came here from Napoleon Dynamite.

  • oh my gosh the e-mart song!!!!! i love this song

  • I THINK I HEARD THE INSTERMENTAL ON PBS KIDS

  • Who sang this? Anna May Wong? I know its not Juanita Hall singing

  • @xelanesqueHQ I do not recall her name but at the insistence of Richard Rogers, the woman who played Bloody Mary in the London stage production is the voice.

  • The girl in this is beautiful!

  • aww i could spend hours just watching this film

  • This was very controversial because of racial aspects.

  • France Nuyen in this movie was simply hotter than hot itself. There are just no words to adequately describe how deliciously lovely she was.

  • Une très belle femme.

  • Eurasian women are simply beautiful.

  • If you listen to Juanita's real voice singing this, it's really crazy how different this version sounds - her voice is NOTHING as young-sounding as this, it's a MAJOR MAJOR difference.... damn idiots had to dub in someone else's voice.

  • @rlee1976 I agree with you but it is not all bad. Richard Rogers was the one that demanded the voice from the London Stage cast and that is what you hear.

  • i dont know what the big deal is?

  • Now I know why Mr. Rodgers and Mr. Hammerstein are two of my most favorite people in the whole world! South Pacific is my second favorite of their collaborations. The Sound Of Music is my ALL TIME FAVORITE!!

  • after watching this you realize how movies today suck..

  • I went to the place where they recoreded South Pacific, and it is soooo BEAUTIFUL!

  • Oh.... my.....God...!

  • France Nuyen was very beautiful and still to this day!

  • Dude he could have hit on me when I was 19!

  • Amazing song writing

  • How I wish they made movies like this, instead of movies where people are killing themselves all the time. I though the movie was great, and I loved this song Happy Talk and she looked so cute talking with her fingers GREAT

  • omg gorgeous she is stunning

  • You got to have a dream, if you don't have a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true.

Now isn't that a sentiment to live your life by?

  • Siempre que veo esta película lamento profundamente el uso de filtros monocromáticos en las escenas. La afean y avejentan muchísimo. ¡¡¡¡¡¡Con los espectaculares escenarios naturales que posee!!!!!!

  • Ha John Kerr, suppose you could nick name him jo, then he becomes the Jo Kerr.

  • Like... what is this... a 45 year old guy hitting on a teenager.....

  • @riverdale999 Are you feeling some inner guilt watching this? France was 19 when this was shot and John Kerr 27...

  • @AnnaMayWongSociety No, it's how he is leering at her...I love the movie, but this scene is a little mail-order-bride/ sex tour. Ugh, so sick of Asian women in cinema being portrayed as compliant, etc.

  • @dagcentral101 20 plus years ago I would have been closer to agreeing with the last part of your comment however today "Asian women in cinema being portrayed as" is all I can agree with for what they are portrayed as today is much wider yet not deeper then your narrow mind focus. Speaking of minds, I would show your doc your comment for it says so much about you and so little about this romantic scene involving a near equally shared feeling of the moment including most viewers.

  • @riverdale999 He wasn't hitting on her. Her mother was trying to marry her off on him. Isn't he allowed to enjoy it for a while?

  • sheer brilliance

  • France Nunyen was beautiful. Wow. I mean wow..

  • I just got done watching the DVD, and this is so much clearer. I love it.

  • This is my favorite song and scene from this movie. I love the words, too!

Both actors John Kerr and France Nuyen are still alive. Kerr is an attorney and Nuyen is a psychologist. Both still make occasional TV appearances!

Nuyen's (Liat) performance was the most intriguing of this scene to me, despite that she never said a word. Great performance. Great movie!

  • Interestingly, the guy, John Kerr, looks like William Holden -- the star of the movie version of TWOSW.

  • She would pay him $2000 a month to make love to her. geez some guys get all the luck...anyway how the hell did sensible end up watching this film in the height of punk?

  • THANK YOU !! So Beautifut!!

  • France Nuyen was sooooooooo HOT!...also,this is a very good movie too!

  • France Nuyen...wow

  • It's funny

  • wow, rmeinds me of my nanna she use to sit singing this to me and teaching me the hand movements. I love it, I have it on VHS still.

  • France Nuyen was SO pretty in this movie and in the Star Trek episode where she played the Dolman of Elas.

  • :o)

  • France Nuyen has been accredited as the second Asian major star in Hollywood motion pictures after Anna May Wong. But actually, Ms. France Nuyen is Eurasian born to a French mother and a Vietnamese father. But for some, Eurasians are just Asians, and Mulatos are just Blacks. I clearly see a difference, do you? A child's ethnic make-up comes from both parents. It's just plain stupid to ommit either parent's genes, and rather disrespectful to the omitted parent, too! So, for the record.......

  • Ms. France Nuyen should be accredited as the first major Eurasian actress in Hollywood Motion Pictures. Immediately after her comes Ms. Nancy Kwan, (1/2 Chinese, 1/2 British Eurasian actress who starred in Suzie Wong). However, the first Eurasian actor was before these ladies, Mr. Yul Brynner. Hey, these Eurasian film stars were a pretty good-looking bunch, wouldn't you say?

  • is this off the blue ray transfer? It looks stunning!
