There was a civil war in China 60 years ago (1046-1949), one side is communist, another side is KMT. The then Tibet government was with KMT side, although they quickly surrended to communist side after KMT lost mainland China in 1949. Communist side could not tolerate a non-communism system in Tibet. It finally lead to the event in 1959. So far 60 years have passed.The ghost of this civil war still bothers Chinese (including Tibetan).

Anyway, 60 years passed on. Dalai was a teenager boy by then, now he is an old man. Most of the then leaders of the both side died a long time ago. It is not surprised that many Chinese on both sides are closely related.
