The feudal serfdom under a theocracy constituted the ruling power of old Tibet. The Tibetan people suffered exploitation and had a generally miserable existence.
In accordance with the wishes of the Tibetan people, the central government quickly quelled this rebellion, and began instituting the democratic reforms and abolishing the feudal serfdom. A million of Tibetan serfs were liberated, and would henceforth no longer be sold, transferred, or forced to labor as chattel.
That's really funny. Many scholars agree that things were far worst in China than in Tibet at the time of the invasion and after they only got worst. MAO brought the worst famines in recorded history. Over one million Tibetans have lost their lives since the invasion. Massive destruction of their sacred monasteries, destruction of ancient artifacts, burning of ancient scriptures and looting of gold and silver.
Talk to someone who knows the reality on the ground. Someone who's Father died at the hands of the Chinese. Someone who was forced to shoot their own parents while the Chinese soldiers held their little hands and made them pull the trigger. Someone who's Mother was tortured with a cattle prod.
China is in Tibet for the resources, i.e. land, space, lumber, water, minerals like gold, silver, borax, copper, uranium, etc. Not to mention the strategic military location. Tibet was invaded and has been occupied for nearly 60 years. the renaming of streets in Chinese, the erecting of monuments to tell a false history of Tibet, the movement of massive populations of Han-Chinese into Tibet, all point to a planned genocide.
The loss of Tibet, Tibetan culture and the way of living and thinking of Tibetan people is a loss for the entire world, the entire human paradigm. There were many inequaties in old Tibet but we never starved, we were free and we lived our religious practice 24/7. Now there are a handful of monasteries left out of the thousands, there are more brothels in Lhasa than there are monasteries in all of Tibet.
The Potala has been turned into some kind of tourist museum, as have the few remaining monasteries, that have a limited number of monks controlled by the Chinese government. Tacky shops, stupid amusement parks in our most sacred city. The lies run deep, are relentless & many Chinese have been taught these lies from the beginning of their educational experiences. Others get very upset when talk of a free Tibet arises. It's because of suppressed hidden guilt, & suppressed withholding of the truth.
Deep down many Chinese know Tibet was separate from China, different people with a distinct language, culture, government, way of life, monetary system, small army, issuing passports and making treaties with its neighbors, even with China. China can rewrite all the books they want, promote a twisted version of the facts, and lie about our beloved country but the truth remains the truth and we Tibetans know the truth. We don't want your version of progress, thanks anyway!
Why not let people in Tibet speak? They did but western governments blocked them. This is their so called human rights. The fucking human rights never exist as long as the western world occupies most (80%) of the world's resourses.
wait, why are they always talking about things happened so long time ago such as 1940s, 1950s, 1980s, but I think right now is 2008. we do not live in the past.
There was a civil war in China 60 years ago (1046-1949), one side is communist, another side is KMT. The then Tibet government was with KMT side, although they quickly surrended to communist side after KMT lost mainland China in 1949. Communist side could not tolerate a non-communism system in Tibet. It finally lead to the event in 1959. So far 60 years have passed. The ghost of this civil war still bothers Chinese (including Tibetan).
Anyway, 60 years passed on. Dalai was a teenager boy by then, now he is an old man. Most of the then leaders of the both side died a long time ago. It is not surprised that many Chinese on both sides are closely related. For example, one Tibetan in exile protests against China, but his relative is working in Lahsa as a ploiceman to crackdown the riot.
Sounds some people are still fighting this civil war. I think it is really meaningless.
fuck off, i dun give a shit about ur oppinion but a retard that lost in war 60 yrs ago just cant fucking represent all chinese ppl now! this is ridiculous!
1.3B Chinese residents do represent Chinese no matter who the leader is. is that so hard to understand? I said that old man could not represent Chinese coz 1) he left China long ago 2) he's a US resident now. Do you have a problem with that?
He was a Kuomintang military officer. Undeniably, China did screw up under Mao but that is history which is what this old man seem to be focusing on. In fact he is a relic himself.
He has no love for China and that is why he supports the separatist movement by preaching freedom. He doesn't care if China is separated.
The fact is this man's word does not carry weight in regards to the issue. He is blaming the CCP which the Free Tibet activist finds in convenient to use and hence the support.
the translation abviously does not match what this so called "general" said. He said Today's China is ruled under the ideology of marxism(infact China is more capitalist than US)which translator said China is under the rule of devil. translator is making up the word which i do not know what's his intention of doing so

We had 176 guns hidden. They were however, very, very costly. We are in a position to defeat the PLA who number 2,255,000 active service personnel, 800,000 reservists and roughly 4 million paramilitary. I suggest PLA surrender before we throw spitballs at them. Thats all I have time for now, I have to go cash my CIA cheque.
