  • in that case somethin's gone seriously wrong with Mr. Winwood

  • and cheers to the very supporting piano player

  • Clapton is great, but this organ player / singer is a horrific fake.

  • @adriaankrabbendam the "organ player/ singer" is steve winwood...and he was on the original 15m Voodoo Chile jam off Electric Ladyland..right in electric lady studios

  • The dude on bass is happy that old slow hand is doing Jimi proud,....bbeeaauuutifull version.

  • please somebody kill me right now i'm complete

  • Jeez, close your eyes and juss listen, relax and enjoy it while ya can

  • whos playing bass

  • @hershysquirts187 i dont know his name but he is always the bass for clapton in crossroads so he is probably in his main band

  • who is this @shatchett0? He can go suck a dick. Go back to playing the main smoke on the water riff and please and leave the grown folks to enjoy the real music.

  • Dude. This brought tears to my eyes. Not even kidding.

  • Good effort, but I think Clapton was too terrified of Jimi and always had resentment. Therefore I don't think he would ever be able to give somethin' like this his heart and soul. Nevertheless pretty damn good.. Then again, who could ever do it the way the master did it!!

  • @staleyismissed Hendrix is the best black left handed rock player of all time!! Better than all the other black left handed rock guitarists put together!

  • He's a very talented guitarist, I would of liked it more if he played with a whammy bar but oh well still pretty good

  • Hendrix was the real deal, Clapton the establishment, awaken

  • @dofnad They're both magnificent.

  • the begining sounds more like catfish blues

  • A piece of art that does much justice and pays respect to one of the legends of music. Played by legends no less.

  • very very funny and bkuesy......very good boys...

  • One of the best versions I have ever heard I still get goose bumps. A great video.

  • Tout simplement génial!

  • pur talent ! incroyable Clapton, au dessus il y a le soleil et à coté il y a Jimmy!

  • Wanna Cry..... Never gonna play like that.........

  • This is why Clapton is my GOD. And this is why Buddy Guy and BB King says he is the best. For me Clapton is no1.. With Buddy Guy and Jeff Beck as close tie secound to him.. For me Jimi Hendrix is a bit to flashy... I would glady pay a million to see a to hour show with Clapton, Guy and Beck share stage, and play just blues.. Because Beck and Guy are the only guitarists who can push to play at his best..

  • @Bigbluesboy

"Jimi Hendrix is a bit to flashy." - Eric is an extremely good blues guitar player, no doubt about it, but he's not even in the same universe as Jimi Hendrix, and to be fair to him, Eric is the first to acknowledge that.

    Peace

  • @DastardlyDawkins Clapton is abow JH universe. EC played the most of his Mayall and Cream time without effect boxes, but JH made a trademark of use so many effect pedals ass he could... EC is not flashy, pure music, but JH effect pedal use is flashy...

  • @Bigbluesboy But still, Clapton admitted Jimi was much better than him, because he was.

  • @Intheflesh44 It was Clapton who told the world that Hendrix was a good guitarist, as Clapton did with Duane Allman, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy and so on.. But if you ask Buddy Guy and BB King, they will say that Clapton is best, and Jeff Beck said that Hendrix did a lot of showmanship that Beck,Clapton and Page wanted to do, not the musical bit... Hendrix was an effect pedal addict..

  • @Bigbluesboy I guess no one is really better than anyone because music isn't a competition. It's a subjective opinion that comes down to personal taste.

  • @Bigbluesboy here, check this out, /watch?v=KPJgtQwtVVA

  • Saw Blind Faith in Hyde Park in 69 and 41 years later they prove that age is no barrier when it comes to musical brilliance. Not intended as a copy, rather a homage to a friend, and the only guy that ever made Eric look ordinary :)

  • This just blew my mind. Made me cry and sent chills down my spine in the same song. Beautiful!

  • nobody does it better, I saw Clapton with Winwood in Vegas, wish they did this there!

  • these 5 people are idiots.

  • Nagasaki, hyroshima, Clapton: things have changed!

  • ma grand mère s'est retournée dans sa tombe, mon arrière grand père s'est remis à l'endroit parcequ'il s'était déja retourné avec Hendrix! Au dessus de Clapton , il ya le soleil!

  • bomb as fuckkkkk

  • Yes! God exists . Look at him on stage!

  • I think there is some confusion here about this Jimi cover, this is Voodoo Chile, not Vodoo Child.

see the 'e' at the end and not a 'd'

The original before he distilled it to the more familiar voodoo Child.

aslo, this is the version that winwood usually plays at his concerts

  • Comment removed

  • Yes it is

  • Is that Chris Stainton on the other keyboard?

  • does not even come remotely close to jimis playing,, !!!! unfortunatelly, or fortunatelly for hendrix fans lol,,,

  • @jimisanta1 Your typing is similar to your opinion of music...completely screwed up.

  • - I saw Steve Gadd on drums ! - Great cover version

  • Whoops, meant to type "isn't"

  • I love Clapton & Winwood but this is even close. Almost elevator like. Something's missing. Jimi perhaps?

  • @WhippJunior

This is the " Exclusive " version.

Hendrix Experience was the " Explosive " track

  • Clapton's done his homework... his licks, his phrasing & the thick warm tone he's coaxing out of his Strat are very evocative of Hendrix. He hasn't learned Jimi's part note-for-note, but he's channelling the essence of it. Disappointingly, on the other hand, Winwood's singing is uncharacteristically second-rate. It's perfunctory & there's very little melodic variation.

  • 1:41

  • Eric flicks his pick into the back of his hand at 1:44 and plays with his fingers till 2:40, nice sound, wish he would play like that more

  • Personally, I'd rather hear Clapton sing this. Not that Winwood has a bad voice, quite the contrary, I'd just prefer to hear Clapton.

I'd also love to hear what this would have been like on one of the Clapton tours that had Billy Preston on organ. If there were anybody who could stand up to Steve Winwood in soulfulness on the hammond organ, it would be Billy Preston.

  • I could replay this all day..

To all the kiddies who say EC cant play blues.. esp not true with Steve Winwood, and all the other bandmates over the many years.. (seriously!) /

  • There will never be another like him --He never tries to embarass anyone he plays with ,and appreciates those who have idolized his legacy and mastery - Those notes/runs. so fingertip short - so sweet- so tight -so fluid with such accuracy and touch... Mr Precision ... some call it sterile --- the Gods call it perfection!!

  • dangerous... take small bites...

  • and Steve Winwood is no slouch as a musician either.. perfect video, thanks

  • jimi would be smiling.

  • just did! thanks to whoever posted this!

  • God I love this...

  • is this concert worth buying? thought 2007 was great but didn't like the oe filmed in 2004

  • @Mockingbird5150 I bought it on blu-ray and loved it. It actually introduced me to artists like Jeff Beck and Steve Winwood. worth it man.

  • @Kommando786 cool. thx for the response. Yeah, I'm gonna bit the bullet and buy it. how bad could it really be?

  • is that steve gadd on drums

  • @hershysquirts187

    oh yeees !

  • @hershysquirts187 It is, yes. He doesn't use classic grip anymore.

  • holy shit

  • Thoughts:

The Twin Bros. From Different Mothers strike again.

It's always been "Clapton and Hendrix" (except for mid'69-mid'70 when it was "Clapton, Hendrix, and Winter"), so how cool to hear EC play on this, channeling Hendrix, and still being himself?

"Electric Ladyland" had two versions of this tune on it: The slow version, this version, had Winwood on Hammond then, as he is here, also very cool.

Hope and Crosby, Jimmy and Wes, Clapton and Winwood.

  • I can watch these two all fu$#*!@ day. Which is a problem, since I've got some other things to do.

  • Quanto mais velhos melhores esses caras ficam .....

  • I can't stand how much I love Clapton's tone here. Ridiculous.

  • Underrated Hendrix's thing!

  • King Clapton!

  • a dream come true.... I always wanted to see clapton playing this. You have to be a guitar god or have a lot of balls to even try to cover this one.

  • This version of Voodoo Chile puts the slight return to shame. The only person able to play it better then Clapton is Jimi. God rest in peace and may your legend continue to live on through the new generation of blues guitarist.

  • No offense but thats waaaayyyy far from the real god of the blues STEVE RAY VAUGhAN!I am gonna sleep with this..go and see what is to really fuck the shit of the guitar.Big time Steve way better!!Thas like pop baland..jajajaj

  • @SpyrosMitrakos you make no sense? are you saying this is like a pop ballad HOW? this is as far from that as you can get

  • @SpyrosMitrakos Good point, but Stevie Ray is no longer with us. RIP

These two artists ARE alive, well and rockin'

  • Getting older and better than ever.

  • isso que é som de qualidade, tomando aquela dose e vendo esse show....valeu rapa

  • Jimi you have nothing to worry about, the illuminati god clapton is still too scared to switch to the bridge pickup, he hides under the gravy harmonics of the other 2 pickups. Winwood saves the song.

  • @dofnad not trying to start a fight, but until ur better than clapton, kindly shut up.

  • @dofnad anyway, i don't think hendrix is known as bridge pickup hero.

  • @ThePointingArrows ,thats the point Hendrix was a bridge pickup master, with no harsh 'shrill' as he would call it. But he used the tonal variations of all pickups.

  • @dofnad I can see you are one of the misguided Hendrix fan clones who bought all the hype

  • By the way, Windwood played organ on Hendrix's original I'm fairly certain.

  • @TheRealRayJ Yes, he did

  • Comment removed

  • yeah that's the way it's gonna be!

  • I love the way of Eric play teh guitar in this one , he is not copyng he is making in his style and its awesome also i like the way he grab the guitar with his left hand, look at his thumb always up

  • Awesome, the guitar sounds like its far away not directly there if you know what I mean... GENIUS

  • groovy!

  • They sound at their best ! with them 45 years ! My generation ... I was at Cream and SDG concerts in 67/68 . Sweeter than wine ...

  • Jack is right on...Its hard to imagine the vas amount of t musical pleasure these two have generated for our ears delight, over the pasr 40 years.l Love them both !

  • Clapton and Winwood together... like fine wine and vintage cheddar! This is a great musical moment.

  • smooth

  • Comment removed

  • This is embarrassing.

  • @shatchett0

Get the fuck out of here! Embarrassing? Two great artists playing something and doing it perfectly!? And you sit there with your wise little ass and compare it to Hendrix because that's what you can! You can't listen to the beauty of this version, you can only judge and nothing else! I'm sad that your brain has stopped the possibility of enjoying variety - go back into your mothers womb and come back out when you are born to speak rightfully, "embarrassing" - you are embarrassing

  • YaYayaayayayayaya!!!!!!

  • Winwood played organ on the original recording “Voodoo Chile“ by Jimi Hendrix on the “Electric Ladyland” LP…

  • Stevie Ray Vaughan does a pretty good version too but this one isn't half bad either...

And YES, I went and bought the DVD once I heard this version here....

    Thanks

    :-)

  • @69cahillyc69 hey man, where can i find an SRV version to this song? I've been looking for it for a long time but i've just found Voodoo Child!

Can you post de link please?

  • clapton can be complacent at times but his guitar his amazing on this, some of the best playing your likely to hear, he's definitely up there with Hendrix

  • David Gilmour should talk to Steve Winwood about doing a new Floyd record, of course if roger would agree.

  • he's playing with such a finesse..

  • Clapton just needs to remind everybody every once in a while that yea he's in fact GOD!

  • Not too many people can even try to play this, much less perfectly like EC. I always love hearing winwood singing too

  • @SuperJamtown I think you mean, not too many people are qualified to play a Hendrix tune..

  • @waynechanhaoran We can always try..

  • @SuperJamtown It was played perfectly by Jimi Hendrix. I was copied adequately by EC. Get it right, jackass.

  • this is amazing video really. thank you to uploader...

  • scandaloso o.O

  • You see that......they are old -double chin-glasses -pepper and salt hair-in a crazy cut.

And it does not mean a fucking thing.

  • hey, joriyyi, could you buy the fuckin' dvd?

  • could you upload whole the concert? ;d

  • @joriyyi lol the concert was from like noon to 10 at night or something. Best concert ive been to prolly tho, Cept is was like 100 degrees
