I started a blog about stuff I wouldn't have if I wasn't married and I think it's kind of similar to Ray Romano humor - I actually have a bit of a nasally voice like him as well. Take a look youtube.com /livingwithmywife
The jokes on his show is written by the man himself guys, if you read the credits of the show, one of the first lines read "Based on the comedy of Ray Romano"
Had it not been for the other comedic geniuses and writers involved in " Everybody Loves Raymond " the series wouldn't have gone anywhere. Romano is a wannabe. How any producer would find faith in him as an individual talent is beyond me. The guy, as a stand up comedian, is ... JUST NOT FUNNY.
@ReneeNme Hey Dumbass of america, Ray Romano WROTE alot of the show, HE PRODUCED THE SHOW, HE CAME UP WITH THE MATERIAL FOR THE SHOW. So you know nothing basically, and you're a wannabe. Ray Romano is a fucking mastermind. The series got somewhere because of his comedic genius apparently many people think so, otherwise he wouldn't have won BEST WRITING FOR A COMEDY SERIES, or BEST ACTOR. So gtfo.
@smilingdevil31 Um, Peter Rosenthal was the creator and executive producer of the show, not Romano. Not only that but the show was based life experiences of the entire writing staff and Rosenthal, with the family members being based on members from BOTH the Rosenthal and Ramano families. Peter Boyle, Doris Roberts and Brad Garret are what made the show. Romano was merely a 2nd banana to their talent's. Or should I say 4th banana ?!
@ReneeNme Um, Peter Rosenthal consulted Romano to create the show. where do you think he got the idea, you moron. He provided the material that they come up with the show. And, um, he produced many episodesof the show, not just rosenthal, romano was part of the writing staff, and if its from the romano family WHO COMES UP WITH IT?! ROMANO DOES, just contradicted yourself, so you admit that romano comes up with a part of the show, romano won BEST WRITING for a comedy series. so yeah.
@ReneeNme Romano is a wannabe even though he created Everybody Loves Raymond, and much of the series is based of his life, and his comedy? Hmm, that doesn't sound logical to me.
@ReneeNme I agree, I didn't laugh a single time during the video, I was like "wtf why are all of these people laughing that hard, it's not even funny, are they just happy to be on tv?"
@ReneeNme One of the suckiest of all time? Lol, he used that same comedic style on that hit tv show of his. It's on tv every day. He's fucking loaded. Where do I sign up to be "sucky" like that? It's alright, you probably can't relate to the content, which is how your opinion was formed.
@itsPerception Said it before, I'll say it again. Without the comedic delivery / acting skills of Peter Boyle ( Young Frankenstein ) , Doris Roberts and Brad Garret " Everybody Loves Raymond " wouldn't have became the show it did. Just watch the repeats of the show. Who gets the HUGE laughs ... Boyle / Roberts / Garret or Ramano ?
Myself, Boyle / Roberts / Garret get belly laughs, Ramano is lucky if he gets a chuckle.
I mean, barone is great, he makes me laugh and he's a good comedian but that doesn't mean that I have to clap every 30 seconds at something he says...
This aired in May 1995, ELR began in 1996. The comedy of ELR is actually based on Rays stand up material as it was this performance that inspired agents to offer him his own TV show. I have also notived that there are a few other parts of his stand up act that appear on ELR.
Reason i like Ray is hes funny without using swear words every 2 seconds like some other comics like chris rock. Good clean comedy, something you dont see much of now a days.
To those who think that he's quoting the show. Take a look at the copyright at the end of the clip. This was recorded the year BEFORE Everybody Loves Raymond started to air. So I think that Ray has worked the jokes into the show, not that he has stolen them from the show. :)
@Marbash0312 the show is based on his life he really does have an older brother named richard instead of robert i think his younger brother is robert.
Quite funny but I think it works better on the show. And for all of u who keeps saying that he recycled it in his show "Everybody Loves Raymond" at the end of the show beginning of the credits, it clearly states that it is based on the comedy of Ray romano
Hey idiots, the jokes from his stand up were used as ideas for the show. Stop with the posting about recycling jokes from the show. You schmucks. He isn't the only comedian to do that either. I know Jerry Seinfeld, George Lopez, and Chris Rock did the same on their shows. Anyways, I love Ray. His show and his stand up are so good.
It takes talent to stand in front of a lot of people and make them laugh without using foul language in your act. Kind of like a musician who doesn't need to play loud to sound good. I get the feeling Ray is even funnier over a beer.
no comedian has performed his/her first stand up on national television, they usually start in bars and comedy clubs, this is not Ray's first performance
The majority of the jokes were recycled from the first season of Everybody Loves Raymond. The cookie bit, the two ugly twins following each other, the drawing of the hamburger on the hand, etc..
Would have been so much better if he had used fresh material.
@rdeffleymoviesnew i'm not a fan of romano's humor..i feel like his shit is meant to entertain either 80 year old women or 10 year old kids...but, dude, it's common practice for comedians to use recycled material when on a late nite talk show...very rarely, if ever, will a comedian come with fresh material for a talk show appearance...i've heard chris rock recycle his shit on leno, letterman, conan, ferguson..and chris rock is actually funny
"Child of incest"..That was a tad bit harsh, but oh well..LOL
I know now that I made a mistake. I never watched ELR when it was on TV. I caught up on DVD. This stand up was on the first season DVD, so I assumed it had come out after the first season. However, after I posted, I soon realized my mistake when I discovered that the show had gotten picked up based off this bit.
So I admit that I made a mistake and I wanted to take my post back. However, I had already posted..
if many comedians are doing it, then obviously its because the audience loves it. just because you dont, you shouldnt speak for the majority of the world.
nobody would say any marriage jokes if the audience wasn't laughing at them. Thats how a comic does standup. Chances are if a few audiences didn't laugh at the joke, nobody will. Trust me, I have done stand up comedy for 5 years now.
He's great :) I like the fact that his jokes are "clean", something you can listen to with the while family. I'm so tired of all the sex related jokes anyway. Btw, the candy story he told at the end was also used in ELR :)
