I think it's just the old Subie fan boys who have hatch ire and expect it to be sedan or nothing. I mean when they first made STi's without gold wheels that made a huge upset but really lets get real here, everyone outside of Subaru doesn't understand gold wheels. And there's plenty of people outside of Subaru who doesn't understand why you would want a big Tokyo drift wing either. :) There's nothing wrong with the hatch, no one complains about the GTI being a hatch.

yeah i have an 06 sti white and i still love the look of the 06-07 the best but i think this new look that they are deliberately shoving into our heads is finally starting to kick in. i actually like this look of the STI and i do also like how the spoiler isnt as plain and boxy looking as mine hahahaha i like it very much finally subaru did something good since 07.

@slapshot12891 Mustang? you gota be kidding me. The Mustang will fall apart if you drive it crazy for 30K miles. BMW's are for grandpas and everyone has them now so dont even go there plus. Now, we get to the main part here so listen up! The STI is a hard and crazy ass car. The transmission is almost bulletproof and the handling is amazing plus its AWD Turbo. A car with turbo is something else believe me. Just get a STI...Enough said

@shedana18 Drive any car hard and it will fall apart in 30,000 miles. You don't believe me go to the strip about a 100 times and actual get decent times and i assure you something will be toasted after about 60 launches or so. Though its a sports car they don't build them to take abuse for a long time stock.

Go easy on the hatch, its a fucking beast. ive owned every sti since 2000. the jan 2010 plated hatch i have looks magic in real life, aftermaket exhaust and suspension and it drives and outpeforms the older models period, im 28 now.. the sti has grown up so should you. does anybody know if and when the special edition is coming to australia

@jdamysti Hey man glad to hear that. I am ordering my 2011 STI Hatch (wagon) soon, as soon as it is available at the local dealer. Not sure when the special edition will be coming out in Australia but here in the US almost all of them are gone already. You will be lucky to find one here.

Just some info for all who did not know... For 2011, SUBARU WILL BE SELLING BOTH HATCHBACK AND SEDAN VERSION STI's. They are not getting rid of the hatchback.

I think I prefer the hatch over the 4 door sedan...and I drive a 2004 STI. It's time Subaru bumps up the power however. Even the base 2011 V6 mustang will have 300 ponies :/

seriously, this is the best the STI has looked since 2004. The end of the stupid hatch is the best thing in years. I might actually buy a replacement to my 04 instead of just rebuilding my 04 forever.

BTW, how are you complaining on powertrain stats without having any data on this other than pictures?

@shedana18 if you like the wagon great. A lot of Scooby owners love wagons. There of us that fell in love with the 04 STi and are ready for upgrades...but for a lot of us, in the past we would have rather found a well maintained 04-07 over an 08+ STI. I'm just not in to the "utility" look of a wagon. I like a BIG wing, wide body...but I hate the scoop. Options are great, I am glad they don't all look like mine. I love all scoobs (just some more than others).

Well here is my voice of dissent Mr. CMO Tim, the car isn't good looking. You may want to try random sampling of consumers, rather than asking everyone who works for Subaru.

I own an 04 STI, It's not the best looking car, but I bought for its revolutionary performance at the time. However, now its 2010, and you announce a model that: has essentially the same performance; and doesn't look any better (arguably worse).
