I took over playing organ from Ed Horwitz around 1971. Played for about 6 months and then left for Houston. The last I ever played live was with Troy Marrs. Did some recording at Mickey Rouse's Lowland Studios before leaving. All I can say, for myself, it was a surreal time. J. Griffin
Hi David, I think I found you on Face book. There are a few, but you were the only one from Lumberton. I would love it if you could make my dad's songs into MP3 tunes. I have not yet figured that out.
I would LOVE to get some more of my dad's songs, do you have some in mp3 form? I have all his records but can't play them on anything. But since my kids never got to meet him, I would love to play his music for them.
Very nice hearing from you, I played with Troy for over 5 years. I have all our records on 45's, I will see if I can convert to MP3 format. I would like to talk to Bonnie also.
I am on FaceBook under David W Smith, Lumberton, Texas.
I sent an email to Troy Jr. but he never responded.
Thanks for posting this. It is one of my favorites from my dad's collection. The "chime" you hear in the background was a coke bottle the hung in the studio when my dad said the song needed a little something extra.

So glad to hear good people still enjoy my dad's music! He had stopped singing when I was born, so I never got to see him live!

Good to hear these comments. I was the lead guitar player in this record and others. Played with Troy for over 5 years.
The chime is a coke bottle that the producer added and let us hear it for the first time when we listened to the final version.
Other members: Ed Horwitz [trumphet and organ]
Kenny [sax]
Charles Richmond [bass]
James Keen [drums]
Muself [guitar]
By the way, the horns on the record are dubbed over three times to get all the harmonies.
