  • These guys are adorable. :) They're just fun to watch, hahah.

  • pet shop boys of the 70s..one just stands there

  • Genius. Way ahead of their time.

  • i couldn,t agree more

  • Pulp stole this idea with cardboard cutouts in video for Disco 2000:)

  • I'm 100% sure the sparks were NOT

the first band to think of this.

  • the song is brill!!! As if the video.

  • Oooh Moroder... you're such a hero! I love the 80's! I wish I was born in the 60's and witnessed all those cool songs!

  • Was there a remixed or updated version of this song? The one I have on CD, probably not from the 1979 album, is about 45 seconds longer and a little crisper (it uses clavichord instead of that more ethereal synth sound).

  • Ici seul le clip est inventif... J'ai toujours regretté qu'il n'y ait pas de suite musicale à "This Town Ain't Big Enough " tellement nouveau et génial comme style même aujourd'hui en 2008 !

  • Nice chicks

  • that piano player guy is so creepy

  • I met him a few years ago in Melbourne and he's actually very nice and friendly. :)

  • Sparks proving that style and great music are timeless. Great in 79,89,99 and it will sound great next year too! And don't even get me started on the hours me and brothers spent doing 'the bloke from Sparks' impressions....

  • Ha Ha me too but never quite perfected that look Sparks were magic

  • Zaje................fajne!!!!!

  • 1979 gawd I`m feeling old !

  • this is the first single I bought in 1979 at the grand old age of...12 :)

  • my favourite!

  • russel is but ron is just hitler.

  • The least said about their cover of ' I want to hold your hand ' the better lol

  • this was a great year for them...being adorable and all :-D

  • What a crazy bunch these 2 were, not sure why underestimated in pop history as not being influential!

  • Singer moved so much and was happy, but his brother didn't even smile... 8D

  • half brother really?

  • wtf! someone removed "Sparks - Happy Face" that you posted !? :/ I just watched it yesteday and now its gone..

  • so ahead of their time and used to scare the pants off me too aged 6, but loved dancing to them by age of 9!! Boy was that a long time ago now.

  • AWESOME SONG. DANCED TO THIS IN 1979

  • vhy do you release malformed vodeos?

  • Ron was as scary as the daleks in Dr Who when i was a kid.

He stood at the keyboard with that stare....

    mummyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy :P

    Awesome band

  • so true!

  • A new version of the U.S. game show "Beat the Clock" started in Sept. 1979, in the same year this song was released. So why didn't the show use this song as its theme?

  • Probably because the producers weren't aware of it at that time. "Beat the Clock" was a top 10 hit in the UK, but got no mainstream airplay in the US.

  • ooh, I want that metronome

  • The witty songwriting of Sparks meets the production skills of Giorgio Moroder--what a sublime combination!

  • thanks for this info..didnt realise Giorgio Moroder was involved..explains why I liked the song so much..

  • This band should be mega! They are soooo cool! I love their stuff. Nobody is this hot.

  • i bet the women in this vid weigh more than ron! lol

  • Ron he no smile

  • Man they played this allot at the roller rink.

  • Anybody notice how the beat is almost exactly every second ?... like if you watch a clock with a ticking second hand..or the time counter on youtube

  • Sparks was best in the 70s. This is still Sparks sound. But so 80s. So it's bad, but still good. I can't make up my mind! I like it. Hehe!

  • Uhh.. The sparks were before then,

    known as Half Nelson.

    "But so 80s. So it's bad, "

    What the hell? :/

  • i wonder how many takes it took russ to go backwards through the cardboard cutouts at the end...he nailed it in the cut they used though, who knows maybe only took one take

  • how did these guys stay so skinny all these years?

  • I know it sounds harebrained and illogical and counter-intuitive, but eating sensibly and exercising keeps you from getting fat.

  • Nah, but in a way he's the Mika of the 80's.

  • gr8 song reminds me of my younger days.

  • ^^ super!!

  • Brilliant!! I remember this song was used by mark and lard 4 radio 1... it was like a joke competition thing..

  • yeah!!

  • they look so good in this video!!

  • This is one of my favourite sparks songs without doubt!

  • Russel looks like Steve Guttenberg in this on

  • If the short guy had a moustache he'd be John Oates.

  • j'arrive pas à comprendre vraiment quelle heure il sera exactement lorsque tu liras mon commentaire! Quelle chorégraphie, géniaux frère Maël, still in heaven!

  • best song ever basically. no arguments

  • basically yeah

  • totally BOSS!

  • me gusta mucho esto, desde el 79 me gusta

  • this band was ahead of their time

  • Brilliant, saw them perform this last night. He said its taken 30 years for us to have the technology to perform this live!, Feel priveledged to have seen them, and Ron looks exactly the same as in this video. Ron even managed a wry smile at the end!!-bless him

  • I would really like one of those cardboard cutouts of Ron. That would rock.

  • best thing i've ever seen

  • kinda funny...the girl second from the end is out of sync every time with the other girls. Also great when Ron and Russell look at each other when he says' "but there's only one of us"

  • more like hitler

  • absolut brill, timeless !

  • C'est la première chanson que j'ai entendu en arrivant en Angleterre en 1979 je trouvais cela incroyable et j'étais ravi (le suis toujours)MERCI

  • I think Ron looks more like Charley chaplin

and that's why he got his hair cut !

  • This was the first Sparks tune I ever heard, on WTCS AM 1490. Still an awesome song after almost 30 years!

  • This song's awesome! This band's cool. I like it at 1:53. I dance to this while i'm on the phone to my friends. I find it on You-Tube and i pick up the phone next to my bed and i crank it up and i sway my hips

    Kylie

  • This band is good. He has a high voice

    Kylie

  • I love this song so much. And my sister Nicole looks kinda like the lead singer of this band. He can hit high notes, That guy's clever

    Kylie

  • Russell Mael is so handsome !!!!

  • This song was (and is) a Disco Classic in NYC.

  • I heard AC/DC's music vid for "Who Made Who" was inspired by this and the opening beat.

  • hiya x

  • doesn't the lead singer form the scissor sisters look like the lead singer from the sparks

  • Ooh! Had to search for pictures of him, but he DOES look like Russell! How scary..

  • Jake Shears, um no, I can't see the resemblance

  • The guy can't hold a candle to Russell.

  • super song,,, real great stuf, my time!

  • you see? hitler wasnt such a bad guy, just give him a keyboard..

  • hahaha like yer comment on sparks, haha

  • sublime

  • you gotta beat the clock , beat the clock!! love it.

  • This sounds even better hearing it now..and I loved it then

  • GAwd, I danced my arse off to these guys!!!!.....

  • alawys ahead of the... clock!

  • AGH. So brilliant!

  • brill thanx

  • Fantastique what an era re release it now!!!

  • No.1 Song in Heaven. Awesome album.

  • Ron and i have the same hair texture, however i think, I'm almost certain he chemically alters it. so now i must do the same! Next week i hope! Good Luck!

  • dont no i havent seen the movie yet

and does antone have the music video from tips for teens?

  • Does anyone have the clip of Sparks in the film Rollercoaster?
