Why do they have such a clumsy gait? It's like when you see a fiddle fronted dog all overdone at the shoulder (think BYB pits) but in their case it's the hind quarters. I wouldn't be surprised if a large majority of these get hip dysplasia as they age. They walk like a woman with a really fat arse. Cute dogs though.

@vetzaak nooooo never put any male boerboels ith other male boerboels!!!! sometimes it might work but it often results in hurt and dead dogs,normally not the boerboels.i would never let 2 male be together after puberty alone because that just has too many chances. it wwould be best if you got a female but if you do get a male make sure you have enough room to separate them.

@MultiMissbeautiful A good African breed that is less dog aggressive is the Rhodesian Ridgeback. They are a big, strong dog and a loyal guardian but they are hounds and therefore much more tolerant of other canines, as they were bred to run in a pack.

:) That looks like so much fun.... SOme of these dogs have some bad dips in their backs tho... We have had some very nice large south african boerboles shipped from africa. A great example is our, our meaning my Fathers kennel CopperheadBoerboels that I take care of and he breeds, dog Franco he's 30" at the shoulders and 178lbs. For a large dog he's got great movement. :) Most of the dogs ship from africa that I've seen are pretty good...

My wife and I own a boerboel and he is the most athletic out of any of our dogs and is still running and playing while my friends labs are passed out under the truck. The dogs in this video look like they have been kenneled up a little to long.

A big dog is a big dog. BBs aren't fat or slow and they are just as big as a presa or bandogge. And they aren't boring either...they have same amount of protection drive as the other two breeds and I might add that they're lineages are probably easier to trace than a bandogge which is basically a hybrid breed and only recognized by one or two clubs. Plus there aren't breed regulations against BBs like there are against presa and bandogges (at least in my state)...

You're actually claiming all of the breeds U mentioned are just smaller English Mastiffs?? Comical. Question-When was the last time you came across an English Mastiff that's titled in Iron Dog, Schutzhund, and also excels in catch work, like my American Bulldogs?? People breed the above mentioned breeds, because they still WORK, unlike EMs.

Oh, and how would U summarize the major differences in phenotype & temperament of those lines I just mentioned? Originally boerboels were not docked in South Africa. But docked dogs became fashionable in the 1980s. Presently it is illegal to dock dogs in South Africa unless it is done for a valid medical reason.

it really depends on how you bring them up and how you discipline them and we have one he doesnt really trouble the other dogs which we have they get on well but he can snap and do some damage if you dont stop him.

Thank you very much! I love those dogs, and I had to cary for a boerboel only for 3 days.. But there were no other beasts around. What do you think, because if you don't raise your labrador they are very often still sweet, is that also with these dogs. Or do you have to be very firm? I am a beginner with dogs, is it hard to keep? And I think the food is very expensive because they eat a lot is that true?

Yes they Are very expensive to raise, they can easily get up to 80KG's, You can be sweet with them but i would suggest you also keep a firm grip on them just to show them you are in charge

What kind of dogo? I guess u meen dogo argentino, but there are others 2. DAs was breed to hunt wild boars and Jaguars so they sure is strong...but not as strong as a boerboel. BB are considerably larger and heavier than a DA. When u say lion, u meen mountainlion/puma right??? No dog could fight a african lion 1 on 1...the dog would be dead in a few seconds whatever dogbreed it was.
