What a great commercial! Too bad they weren't included in the DVD sets of the series. Grape Nuts are great (as was Postum, created by the same man if I remember right).
It's my favorite cereal. I eat it every day because I don't eat sweets anymore. I actually was gaining weight though because I went through a four pound box every five to seven days. No milk though, I just eat handfuls out of the box or put it on my yogurt.
but they're like all cereals composed of very simple carbohydrates, which effectivily is not that different from 'sugars' that you add for flavor. i would still consider them sweets if they're composed from a base that is practically all simple carbs.
re-iterating to take up 'real food'. i.e. food that has a low glycemic index and that takes some cooking. if you plan your meals and have a good conception of what you are gonna need, as well as a good metabolism you don't need to snack away.
This was a "comedy" commercial for Grape-Nuts that appeared at the end of one of the episodes of "THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW" in the spring of 1964. Andy and his cast always appeared in a closing "integrated commercial" for one of sponsor General Foods' products throughout the series' eight-year run.

id say that sweetened cereals count as 'sweets'.
how about taking up real food?

Grape-Nuts don't have any added sugar. Check the ingredient list.
