@progamerX94 - actually it is. it's a select fire M14, and not a normal Semi Auto M14 or M1A, and because of that it's a Class III NFA item, classified by the federal govt as a Machine Gun because it fires more than one round per pull of the trigger
@weaponeer but its still not a machine gun, its an assult rifle, the m14 is usally a battle rifle with the size of the bullet, but then you you put the selective fire on it, it makes it into an assult rifle
@Mud2129 - The M15 (M14 LMG Model) was built as a SAW as a DIRECT replacement for the BAR LMG. The M15 later became the M14A1 which is a Squad Automatic Weapon. BUT in the eyes of the ATF, ANY WEAPON THAT FIRES MORE THAN ONE ROUND PER PULL OF THE TRIGGER IS A MACHINEGUN, no matter the configuration. This is the Govt designation for a class II firearm. it should be noted that the rifle above was a modernized M14A1, with collapsible stock and suppressor (the bipod was removed for this video)
@45calibermedic - This is not the M14 issued to some US troops. most of the M14's were semi-automatic fire only, and as a semi auto its best classed as a Battle Rifle just like the M1. But as a Select Fire Weapon it becomes a Light Machine Gun. The original M14's performed poorly in the Light Machine Gun Role due to limited ammo capacity and light barrel, so the Select Fire Was Blocked. So as a semi it's a Battle Rifle, and as a select fire weapon it's a light machine gun much like the BAR
The first models were select fire, later most M14s were permanently set to semi-automatic fire only. The USAF even has some modified for single shot (honor guard). The commercial versions are also all semi-auto.
Just keep in mind that the M14's still in use by the military are no longer select fire. we had about 50 of them in the 90's and all were semi converted when issued to units.
@Shadowblindx the new civilian versions, the m1a, only fire semi. if u wanna buy one and ur state doesnt permit fully auto weapons, get the m1a. its the same as the m14 just with only safe and semi automatic
It's easy to find where are you living? Here in Henderson NV We have tons, I can go down to my local gun shop and find a bulk 2000 round ammo can for 400 ish bucks.
man i cant believe you guys are arguing over weapons. weapons are weapons. some are good at this, some are good at that. i love weapons and i especially love my ak's and ar's. Very expensive hobby. And ammo being so hard to find has made it harder for me to shoot.
It's a fact that your soldiers prefered ak instead of m16 in nam, and you even fucking lost! With all your "good weapons" you can't do a shit. Or maybe you are just a little boy triing to look grown up,because in Russia we still use 7.62 mm bullets, because they penentrate better. And theese MOA standarts are used by western countries,so afcourse you will call our weapons shitty. and how does your privates shoot,by liying on the ground maybe?
Were you considered brain dead at some time recently? Russia switched to the AK74 that uses the 5.45x39 in 1974 right after the war. the reason? the smaller bullets didn't work very well. the gutless 7.62x39 is in the same power class as the 30-30. so wake up dip ship.. russia stopped using 35 years ago. Russian does not use MOA because the AK AND the SVD are pathetic for accuracy. and I own a lot of AKs.
Oh,yeah I almost forgot... When my father was in army there were trainings once a month. Trainings were made by spetznaz officers who showed what they can do. There was one officer who could shoot targets from ak 47 while runing and jumping and targets where 150-400 metres away. It was a still dark and tracing bullets where easy to see. So,it's not the weapon which can't hit, it's the shooter. Of course a nerd with gun with no recoil can shoot well, but could he shoot that officer? I think not.
Once again you don't know your history or the weapon. The AK47's poor performance during the Vietnam war had it replaced by the AK74 in 5.45x39. The avg Army Private is required to hit targets at 100 - 400 meters. The AK is only a 2 MOA weapon (poor), while the M16 a 1 MOA weapon (good). The M16 had three problems 1. the barrel was not chrome lined when it was first issued. It was quickly added. 2. they used the wrong gun powder (not the recommended powder) 3. they didn't issue cleaning kits
The three issues were very quickly corrected. Only the chrome lined barrel was the fault of the rifle. the others were supply issues. total time 6 months. it took over 10 years to fix the AK so it was no longer blowing off the faces of the shooters shooting it (fact). The M16 has been unchanged (base design) for 50 years. It's a modular weapon that has seen additions to the design unlike the AK which has been redesigned over and over.
So,you want to say that m16 is way better... Now I get a feeling of you being a brainwashed americunt who doesn't have his own opinion... facts that you mentioned is compleete bullshit. how about thin gas chanel in m16 which get stuck full of sand and mud, while ak didn't?
Seems you don't know your weapons. The AK series is a 2 MOA weapon, while most M16 series weapons are sub MOA.
I own 10 AK's, and 7 AR's and in 17 years in the Army never failed to qualify anything less than expert. I have been shooting these weapons for over 20 years.. the result is the AK has sub-standard accuracy due to the shorter then needed sight radius, and excessive flex in the receiver thats causes poor harmonics. The AK was not designed to be accurate and it's not.
Thats the problem with revisionist history. The term is from the 40's when the rifles were large caliber weapons (30.06, 8mm, 303, 7.62x54r). Now people wish to call neutered calibers, "high power", and many "WRONGLY" include the 308 in that catagory. the problem is there are rounds based on the AK case that exceed the ballistics of the 308 at 1000 yards, and yet are no longer than a 5.56mm.
using the incorrect revisionist history, we will include nearly all calibers as high power. Rounds such as the 280 British (older than the 7.62x51) are considered intermediate as well. originally (and correctly) any battle rifle Cartridge from WWII, and above (such as .338 Lapua) were high power, and anything below are intermediate and lower. But the Gov. gets it wrong 100% of the time as well, even calleding 12ga's assault rifles (without being a rifle)
An assault rifle is a rifle designed for combat, with selective fire (capable of shooting either like a machine gun or one bullet at a time). Assault rifles are the standard infantry weapons in most modern armies, having largely superseded or supplemented battle rifles (which are similar to assault rifles but are larger and more powerful) such as the World War II-era M1 Garand and SVT-40.
7.62 IS an intermediate cart. remember, during WWII the full power rifle cartridges were 30.06, 8mm, 7.62x54r, 8x56r, 303, etc.. so anything under that would intermediate
The AK rarely hits anything... and as for kill count? not even close. The US 30.06 was used in WWI, WWII, Korea, and was still being used in Nam. During these world wars and major conflicts it was used in rifles, Light machine guns, and heavy machine guns, and used in aircraft (mainly the AN/M2). The 7.62x39 is still small time compared to rounds that have been around for over 100 years
So,you want to tell that Ak is not the best choice? Even in Nam? Then why did american soldiers left their M16 and took Ak's from dead Vietnam soldiers? M16 is unreliable and shoting throught bushes causes the small bullet to change its way because of when that bullet hits something it changes it's trajectory. M4 is just a shorter version of m16 so all the m16's long barrel pluses are taken away. Oh yeah, and conflict between Russia and Georgia showed how good were their western bought weapons.
Yes, the AK is NOT the best choice. US soldiers only picked it up when they were out of 5.56mm ammuniton. It's the ingenuity of the US soldier and not the AK, they also used helmets and shovels.
The AK was designed to be handed to a farmer and told to shoot in the general direction of the enemy. It's world renowned for being reliable, yet also the least accurate rifle carried by a standing army
just a little history reminder. The AK47 started out as a pathetic weapon that was more dangerous to the user than the person they were shooting at. which is why it was modified as the AKM which was a 10 year process (1959). The AKM was considered obsolete 15 years later due to the Vietnam war. The russians saw the 5.56mm as a better round so the chambered the AK74 in 5.45 (the poor performance of the 7.62x39 ended after the Vietnam war by the very people who designed it)
The actual term would be an assault rifle as it's less the a full power cartridge, and it's select fire. the problem is they think all semi-autos are assault rifles. in the case... it's either.. A machine gun as it's a class III weapon covered under the NFA, as well as a REAL assault rifle, and not the weapons they like to call assault rifles these days
@Hogkillerm14 M14 Takes alot of money to make and heavier rouds m16- Light cheap and u can carry more ammo especaiily in urban fire fights in iraq/afgan reigon.
the M14 had a full auto just it was horribly inaccurate due to the fact that it was off a M1 Grand design so it wasnt able to function correctly on full auto
What in the living hell are you talking about? The M-14 functioned perfectly in automatic, some people just can't properly control a rifle that yields a small weight next to a heavy round.
thats why they created the M16 or AR15 because you see M14's now as sniper rifles cus of the 7.62, we're using the smaller 5.56 because it has less recoil when firing therefor having greater accuracy on the M16 over the M14
The M-16 is more accurate because of the design of the firearm, not because of 5.56. Piston operated weapons are generally less accurate than direct impingement firearms. We're using M-14s are DMRs not snipers because there's no point of buying AR-10s when the M-14 does the job just fine. The M-14 was just a very light weapon when compared to the round that it fired.
There is a banana clip for the M-14 that holds 40 rounds. When using the rifle in full-auto mode, you can tape two banana clips together in a "69" position. Empty the clip, then quickly reverse the tapes clip and fire another 40 rounds. But don't touch the barrel! I saw an M-14 barrel melt and bend from firing too many rounds in automatic.
With your extensive use of words like "banana clip," I highly suggest you never speak about firearms again. The barrel will never melt, it may warp but this takes thousands of rounds.
I'd gladly trade my M1A for an M14!

With your extensive use of words like "banana clip," I highly suggest you never speak about firearms again. The barrel will never melt, it may warp but this takes thousands of rounds.
