@strope66 If I don't take it easy over speed bumps then yeah they'll scrape a bit. But I also have a 2" drop with the Eibach Sportline springs. They're probably an inch lower than the stock midpipe
@Storm7289 The X sounds much better. If there is a power difference, its 1 or 2 hp and isn't going to make a difference in the long run. I'd make my choice off of sound vs. 1 or 2 extra hp.

I could really care less about the performance advantage of either one. I couldn't tell any difference after swapping midpipes. @chancelandreth I took it to my tint shop and they used 6 coats of spray. They turned out niceeee. I didn't get hassled by the cops for the first couple years but then I got 3 tickets in a row. I just eBay'd stock taillights and picked up a pair for $40, no biggie. Pretty easy to swap out too

The H is freaking loud as hell and will scare the living crap out of anyone if you get on the gas next to them but it's really raspy. The X takes away some of the rasp but it's still damn loud! In my opinion, I'd go with the X because you get a better overall sound that's cleaner and smoother.

@n64kps you need a nice chambered muffler too rather than a straight through like magnapacks. That will also eliminate the rust and sound a ton better. when this snow goes away i'll post a video of my setup with stock manifolds, UPR o/r x and a flowmaster american thunder catback. x pipe and chambered mufflers on non-built motors yield more HP. BTW these videos of your car made me buy my car. white 5 speed vert with black deep-dish bullitts. so thanks (i did almost buy the saleen rims :P )

@JTmoneylols Thanks. I couldn't give you the best answer because I took mine to a tint shop and they use a professional spray (about 6 coats). I haven't heard the best stuff about the DIY sprays so I would go to your local tint shop and see what they have available for you
Hey man, I see you had two different setups. one with the X pipe and one with the H. I have O/R H pipe with Magnapacks but the headers I'm looking at will only accept an X pipe. Which midpipe did you prefer better the H or the X with your Headers and Magnapack set up?

@n64kps I was looking at buying Flowtech ceramic LT headers. They are the same design as hooker headers. So you don't have to remove or loosen the headers to pull the trans.

@popaboner hahah yea i got a 99 gt with the bbk shorties, bbk O/R xpipe, and flowmaster cat-backs...the cops do pay more attention to you but most of my experiences is them admiring it hahha even while writing me a ticket ( its so hard to stay off the gas when it sounds so good
@88soulsurvivor The real difference between the two mid-pipe selections, besides the little bit of sound, is that with the H-pipe you get more torque in lower RPM, while X-pipes give you a bit more high end horsepower in the 5 to 6k range. the difference was tested at magnaflow by HorsepowerTV, and it only ended with the X getting 2-3 more HP, while the H gets the torque in the begining. Personally i like the H, due to the sound and torque, but i respect people who want the X-pipe's HP.
@fubar730 Well it depends on how much money you have sitting around but if you can find a Cobra (03 or 04), I'd go for that in a heartbeat over a GT. It's just that much better

Borla Stingers are fairly similar to Magnaflow Magnapacks. This video is of the O/R H but I have a couple new videos of the O/R X and I think it sounds much better. You should check those out (I know it's hard to tell by the sound quality of a computer but from someone who's had both, I recommend the X)
Thanks for the comments. You just have the regular Magnaflow not the Magnapacks? Also, when you add the headers and midpipe it will make your car a lot louder. So wait till after your headers are on and then let me know how loud it is haha

I got a ticket for my exhaust but I just put on the stock mufflers in the morning, went to the police station, turned on the car and she signed off my ticket. I went straight home and bolted up my Magnapacks again! LOL
I added magnaflows to my old cobra. I had the packs but they were a little harsh for me. I bought the magnaflows used on svtperformance and sold the magnapacks on it. I also bought the slp tailpipes and tips so I built a catback for around $120.
I liked them. The packs were a little harsh in the higher rpm range. The magnaflows were smooth and still had a good sound to them. Check my videos I have a vid of each. I think most people like the packs :)
Upon watching them, I had seen both of your videos before. I liked the Magnaflows better than the Packs. The Packs were pretty raspy sounding on your car. Maybe the 4V motor makes it sound a little different than the 2V. But on my car, I LOVE them in the high rpms.. My car sounds like a Nascar!! At about 2500-3000 it gets a little bit raspy but 4000-6200 is pure sex!
haha funny you say that. I had ordered a Black Spoiler but it was cracked during shipment so I was wingless for a few weeks before I got another one. It was cool looking, like the Bullitts, but I like the look of it with the black spoiler on right now.
Nice setup. I have a question. Did you keep the EGR and plumb a new hole for emissions or was there one in the header or did you just get a block off plate?I'm thinking of doing the same header and midpipe setup with a Borla catback.
The headers already have a spot for the front O2 sensor that you just screw in. In order for it to reach however, you need O2 extenders (which came in the header/midpipe package I purchased). For the rear O2s, there were MILs included to get rid of the CEL since it is an O/R pipe. You should check out my video with the X pipe and see which one you like better (personally I prefer the X).
The headers/midpipe were 700 and the catback was about 400. The car was stock when I got it and I've done all the mods on it. I don't know how to answer how much the car cost because prices are changing and mods don't necessarily affect value.
i would spend $10,000 a year in just tires if my car sounded like that i listen to it everyday and i got surround sound speakers..my wife knows if i keep lookin at it my next step is test driving..lol

5spd. BBK LTs don't fit with automatics. The transmission is too wide and the headers would rub against the auto tranny.

The regular magnaflow mufflers are also straight through, it just has more packing around it

I got a ticket for my exhaust but I just put on the stock mufflers in the morning, went to the police station, turned on the car and she signed off my ticket. I went straight home and bolted up my Magnapacks again! LOL

I added magnaflows to my old cobra. I had the packs but they were a little harsh for me. I bought the magnaflows used on svtperformance and sold the magnapacks on it. I also bought the slp tailpipes and tips so I built a catback for around $120.

I liked them. The packs were a little harsh in the higher rpm range. The magnaflows were smooth and still had a good sound to them. Check my videos I have a vid of each. I think most people like the packs :)

Upon watching them, I had seen both of your videos before. I liked the Magnaflows better than the Packs. The Packs were pretty raspy sounding on your car. Maybe the 4V motor makes it sound a little different than the 2V. But on my car, I LOVE them in the high rpms.. My car sounds like a Nascar!! At about 2500-3000 it gets a little bit raspy but 4000-6200 is pure sex!

haha funny you say that. I had ordered a Black Spoiler but it was cracked during shipment so I was wingless for a few weeks before I got another one. It was cool looking, like the Bullitts, but I like the look of it with the black spoiler on right now.

Nice setup. I have a question. Did you keep the EGR and plumb a new hole for emissions or was there one in the header or did you just get a block off plate?I'm thinking of doing the same header and midpipe setup with a Borla catback.

The headers already have a spot for the front O2 sensor that you just screw in. In order for it to reach however, you need O2 extenders (which came in the header/midpipe package I purchased). For the rear O2s, there were MILs included to get rid of the CEL since it is an O/R pipe. You should check out my video with the X pipe and see which one you like better (personally I prefer the X).

The headers/midpipe were 700 and the catback was about 400. The car was stock when I got it and I've done all the mods on it. I don't know how to answer how much the car cost because prices are changing and mods don't necessarily affect value.

i would spend $10,000 a year in just tires if my car sounded like that i listen to it everyday and i got surround sound speakers..my wife knows if i keep lookin at it my next step is test driving..lol
