  • First Generation Kindle looks so different than the newer Third Generation Kindle.

  • just got mine yesterday

  • @clubpenguinmaster99 The price has come down but the quality is still great. I still use mine...

  • can you go on other websites on your kindle?

  • damn, learn how to use your camera man. It's really annoying to watch review on this. And maybe prepare something to say instead.

  • can youuse the device out of U.S.A I mean to download books

  • as of recently it is possible to use it outside the US

  • I used to get 30 books at a time when I was Younger Now I have freedom YEA! I want One Real Bad

  • Awesome, I'm convinced too, I'm getting one w00t!

  • It is a great product... Bill

  • You convinced me Bill.. I'm ordering a Kindle! Your video was just what I needed, not the highly, over produced, commercialized hype. Thanks so much... continue to have fun!! Amazon owes you a thank you commission.

    Another, Bill

  • I'm glad my video was informative to you. It is a terrific device and I STILL USE MINE DAILY!!! Bill

  • yeah!

  • Glad you liked the video... I am still using my Kindel every day... Bill

  • Bill..great video. I recently ordered the Kindle and am looking forward to using it on a daily basis. BTW...what was the name of that great christmas cd you were playing? Have a great day.

  • Thanks for the comments! BTW - I am still using my KINDLE daily and love it!!! The music comes from the MANNHEIM STEAMROLLER song - LET IT SNOW from the Christmas Album CHRISTMAS... Be Well... Bill

  • bill you that man love the legos and im looking at reviews for kindles and bang theres BILL!!!!

  • HA HA!! Thanks for the kind comments! I generally don't deviate from models but this was a EXCEPTIONAL device that I got for myself this Christmas and WHAT A COOL DEVICE. The best thing is the FREE INTERNET access to GOOGLE and GOOGLE MAPS etc... WAY COOL... Be Well... Bill

  • Bill one thing i wanted to say thanks for being such and upbeat and happy guy in a world of fear its hard to find some one like you iv watched all ur vids after they worked on my leg i was out of work for 2 weeks and your videos made it very easy to sit here alone i just ordered a cam so i can show some of my stuff (sorry about the grammar and spelling!)

  • What a wonderful comment!! Indeed this is my entire purpose in life is to put a smile on your face in a world of increasing uncertainty. I have people who watch my video all across the world and it seems modeling crosses all races and creeds. After my stroke it is also my passion to try to get older adults to build models for their well being and health. It healed me totally from stroke!!! I'm really glad you have enjoyed watching my videos. I even watch them for an uplift. Bill

  • Thats Nifty!

  • Thanks for the comments! This is a really cool device. I still use it all the time!!! Be Well... Bill

  • Yeah, ive got to get one of these buggers. The internet alone, is cool. Most people are looking at it as only one of the things it is. And evaluating it on that alone. Its not a clock radio. You cant evaluate it solely on the clock or the radio. You have to look at it as an ebook reader, a news delivery system, a wireless internet device, etc. And when you do, its a very attractive artifact, even at the 400 dollar price tag.

  • Well, I love mine and still use it each and every day! A great TOOL to use! Be Well... Bill

  • Just ordered mine. Hopefully I wont have to wait 6 weeks for it! :-) There have been so many negative reviews for this thing, but nobody seems to make any mention of the MOST AMAZING feature of this device, the always-on free internet access...

I'm excited fro mine to arrive - thanks for the great video showing exactly what I was interested in seeing!

  • Thanks for the comments! It is nice to do FREE GOOGLE searches while reading a book. I mean just look it up and a MAP pops up showing where that ISLAND is you just read about! THAT IS WORTH THE PRICE OF ADMISSION! Be Well... Bill

  • SOLD!!! You're in trouble now mister!!! :) I must have one of these now!!!! Thank you so much for the detailed how to on this product. Hope you still love it. Can't wait to order one. :)

  • Thanks for the nice comments! I use my KINDLE EACH AND EVERY DAY and it grows on you the more you use it. I've read a ton of books on it and I also get several daily news feeds. PRETTY COOL... Good luck in getting one! Be Well... Bill

  • Thanks, that was very instructive. What happens when browsing the internet you hit an animated gif? Does the Kindle simply display a greyed out field?

  • Thanks for the comments! It will display all text and JPG files! I believe one phase of the GIF is displayed but without animation. Some of the stuff that it can't display are frames. It will bring up GOOGLE MAPS if you want to look at a map. YOU CAN ZOOM on Google Maps but one refresh at a time. You have to manually enter the miles and then it works. It is really quite cool.... Pictures look great! Be Well... Bill

  • Thanks Bill! I enjoyed learning about the Kindel, you explain very well. I have already ordered mine and thank you for navagating through a lot of the features. I hope you have another video on Kindel I would enjoy seeing another of yours. Thanks again!! Take care:)

  • Thanks for the KIND comments! Well, I may well do another Kindle video as a lot of you all have asked me. I still use mine each and every day and it is a GREAT device. I was reading another BOOK last night and wondered where a city was in a STATE. Well, I just whipped up my Kindle next to me and did a search for POTTSTOWN PENNSYLVANIA. I specified to search the web. At the top was GOOGLE MAPS. I choose that one and it was a closeup of the town. Several zooms later... Be well... Bill

  • Thank you so much for your video. I love the spirit in which you present the device, and how you respond to inquiries.

One question, web feature...are you able to access Gmail and use it to check and send e-mails?

  • Thanks for the nice comments! You can send email to the device for ten cents per email. You are given a Kindle email address to which you can add authorized senders. If you want to set your email to forward to the kindle you can do so with a price... Bill

  • hey, can you post up a vid on how to download the ebooks, either from AMAZON or GUTENBURG, Thanks!

    Great Vid too

  • Thanks for the comments! I've been thinking about another video on just that as there are "tricks" to reliably get it to work. I have mastered the art of the transfer both via AMAZON at 10 cents a pop and also the USB. I'll think of doing another one... BTW - I love my Kindle and read with it each day!!! Be Well... Bill

  • Bill: Great review. Q: is the web really free? Someone on youtube posted that access via "experimental" tab may have a slight charge and it says it on the Kindle somewhere. Also, how does eBay look on the Kindle? Finally, how does the SD card work, can u read books off teh SD, or must you transfer them to the Kindle memory 1st? Can you share bought books with other Kindles? Trading SD cards? Thanks, Bill.

  • Thanks so much for the kind comments! YES THE WEB IS TOTALLY FREE. It uses a web browser that shows pictures and text and hyperlinks. So EBAY would look bad except for searches. I installed a $45 8 GBYTE SD disk. You can copy things to it. Through USB you can easily send things to the KINDLE via Windows Explorer. Gutenberg has over 20,000 FREE books and they can be copied free via USB. NO SHARING of BOUGHT books as they are encrypted. Be Well... Bill

  • I was thinking of getting one, but based on your review, I'm gonna do it!Thanks. You've convinced me. Okay, now it's tit for tat.I will order a Kindle. You gotta promise me you'll head out to see the movie Juno. It is so charming, and so funny, and so "real". Nothing to do with a Kindle, I know, but you just seem like you could appreciate that movie (Ebert's Best Movie of 2007 pick). Okay, deal? Deal.I ordered my Kindle. (I have no idea how long it'll take to get here.) Stu

  • I love my Kindle and use it daily. When reading the classic books with expanded words it is really great to be able to look up the word on the internal dictionary and INTERNET. I'll check out Juno and thanks for the tip! Be Well and much luck with the Kindle!!! Bill

  • Thanks for a HELPFUL video. I am on the waiting list for this item. Can't wait.

  • Thanks for the comments! I still use the Kindle each day and have read 5 books so far on it. I also have transferred ebooks to it via KINDLE mail. You can send anything if forrmated correctly up to around 1 meg in length for $.10 each. Works neat. Kindle is a great device and wonderful to read with! Be Well... Bill

  • Thanks for the info. I have mine but haven't used it yet...just got it. ;)

  • I've been using mine for several weeks and love it. You can even download ebooks from GUUTENBURG if you CHANGE THE ATTRIBUTES IN VISTA of the FILES to FULL CONTROL. I've done that then sent them via my KINDLE email at 10 cents a pop through AMAZON. USB also works great. I haven't fiddled with AUDIBLE books or MP3 music. Glad the video was benificial! Be Well... Bill

  • Thanks for the positive attitude and useful tips on the Kindle, most of these review videos do little more than criticize the styling and page buttons of the device. Have fun with it!

  • Thanks for the kind comments. I am using it daily and have already read one book on it and it is really neat. One side note - when you don't use it they put these old fashiond pics on the screen that are really neat. So each time you go to read with it you see another surprise. I am very pleased with it and even have sent email DOC files to it via AMAZON at $.10 a pop. Cheap way to get a free ebook over. Be Well... Bill

  • pretty neat. I never heard of it before... do you use it through your cell phone? Or does it just run off of any cell phone tower? How does that work it you don't pay for the service?

  • It is self contained and acts like a cell phone in that it can be used anywhere. It is not a phone it is a Kindle. The $399 price tag gives you free access. It uses CELL technology to send and receive data. The cost of service is paid for by the books you purchase for it. They call the network WISPERNET. Blogs and Newspapers come in several times a day automatically without human intervention. Google searches are free URL access is free - pretty neato... Bill

  • Very neato!!

  • PRETTY COOL STUFF!! Where do you find these things??

  • This one is ONLY available on the AMAZON web site. It is really a neato device and I am having a ton of fun with it! Bill
