Beautiful piece of art. Thank you for taking the time to create this.Your intention in music and symbolisms as well as the richness of the entire piece has opened the eyes to my third grade Spanish class. They now are able to appreciate the beauty of Dia de los muertos. Incredibly moving to watch this.
It's shackles, not crickets. It's the same word for crickets, but a different meaning. She is singing "Put shackles on the devil". That makes more sense. Thanks for posting the translation, there were a few words I could not hear well. The translation automatically made me understand the words she was saying.
Here i made the translation, theres word Mojana I don't understand what it means,I guess is because I'm from Costa Rica, But I Hope this is gonna usefull in some way, you seem very interested in DÍA DE MUERTOS!
Awesome work. Though I am not religious at all, the day of the dead tradition interests me greatly. This is the best animated short I've seen in a loong time.
It is amazing!!! It captures so many of this tradition, the colors, the atmosphere, the feeling, the love for those gone. This is my favorite Mexican tradition. Thank you for representing part of what we are with such a beautiful composition.
The faces on the dead did look a little scary with the spooky eye shapes and all, but besides that they seemed pretty good-natured - I mean just because they mainly seemed bent on celebrating and dancing around and having fun and no one was running away screaming and freaking out or anything. In similar critique, the werewolf guy did seem like an odd addition, though.
Really nice animation overall, though! Dark render, it'd be nice to see it a little more clearly.
Kirk, I thin you and your team did a very good work on this video but in México, our deads are always people we used to love. They came not to scare us, but to visit relatives and we show them respect.
Congratulations for capturing the essence of our Día de Muertos.
muchos bueno =) ^^

I think that the scary think is just for dramatic purposes.
Anyway,
Thanx for the upload :)

"Scary thinG", sorry! lol

I think is very well done, but the attitude of the dead is to scary, The perception of the dead for that specific date is more familiar, not scary.
Like when you wait for a relative, that is coming back from a very long journey.
I think you reflected a (US) cultural cliche had showed up.
