I have this on my white album. I just bought it at a record store and it's not listed on the track list but it's on there as its own track. What the fuck?
@ipolson I bet your rite. Maybe Paul wants to get back to how things were when they were in the earlier years. I still would've like to have seen another 2-3 albums by The Beatles.
@bradleypartyof3 no that's why there's a song from the album Please Please Me that's titled "There's a Place" to me this song is Paul confessing how he's regreting doing something. Probably has to do with Jane Asher.
@R3ALDUBB3DD3R3K: This is about Paul's wish at the time to take the Beatles 'back' to their roots and performing again, a thought which developed with the next project 'Get Back' or 'Let it Be' as it became. That why he had the idea of them performing on the roof at Apple. To try and get them enjoying performing together again, alas all in vain. This song is a little message to the other Beatles.
I don't know what you guys are talking about. I think the album turned out the best the way it did. This song has a very nice sound, but it's way too long. The few seconds at the end of Cry Baby Cry was just enough.
@MartySGHU700 Get rid of wild honey pie, add the full version of this to cry baby cry, and add the spanish guitar from wild honey pie to the end of this new extend version of cry baby cry. also swap revolution 9 for hey jude.
@MartySGHU700 no kidding! This is great, really really nice. I'm glad to finally hear it, I always loved the little snippet at the end of "Cry, Baby, Cry"
@PETERWASHERE100 do you know the beatles anyone knows that is not john lennon's voice that's paul mccartney's voice why would he be singing about yoko ono?
For the longest time, before I knew anything about the entangled history of the White Album, I always assumed this was concocted by the Beatles as an intentional connective ditty - part of Cry Baby Cry. As with most aspects you might guess about in the White Album, this is not the case. It's just one of the many deformities of fact of this much storied album a casual listener might conclude. The disjointed coherence of the album has long since been valued as a plus. Group strain? What strain?
@MrsPaulMcCharmly I couldnt have thought of a better description. Its such a weird feeling I get when I listen to this, like I've been hearing it all my life.
@bobyoung53 I don't know for sure, but it's my guess that, like many other white album songs, someone close to the group liked it. for example, paul was experimenting with different instruments in the studio, the recording of which would turn out to be Wild Honey Pie, it was never going to be a serious song, but george's wife patty really liked it, so it ended up on the album. another reason could be the fact that paul had a hard time letting go of his throwaways, like maxwell's silver hammer
@eltimo12 Oh, you are absolutely right. What state is Liverpool in again, is it Indiana? I think I got it mixed up because Paul is Hispanic and his favorite color is yellow.
Are you being sarcastic? Hahah, if not--- The Beatles are from Liverpool...in the North of England.. in the UK...in Europe.. NOT america..and they are the best British band of all time? :|
Lotta ppl seem to be hating on Cry Baby Cry. Personally, I love that song and I love how the song segues into Can You Take Me Back.
Also on the LOVE album, it's used at the end of one of the songs....Come Together I think. It's mixed with the symphonic part of Eleanor Rigby. It's fucking awesome!!!!

@residentevlidead apparently he hated his voice, so anytime he sang his little quips like that, you always know it's him... i concur... those little JOHN-INPUTS are everywhere in their recordings... interesting? yes. cool? sometimes. good? not necessarily....
@corogno paul is not dead dont bring this up. i really wish i could listen to one beatles song without seeing in the comments that somebody wrote a clue to PID
@LovePeaceLennon22 i know.....these losers that insist paul is dead. It's usually young people who got into the beatles, found an article on the "Paul is dead hoax" and think they are the only one that knows about this....like they are telling people something new and exciting. They only make themselves look like total fools
I got the mp3 for this. This comes from The Beatles White Album Deluxe Edition 12 disc set by Purple Chick which I purchased years ago. This was made an edit skillfully made out of two versions; one for The Beatles At Abbey Road Presentation and one from the Turn Me On, Dead Man :The John Barrett Tapes, compiled in 1982. If you listen very carefully at 1:08, you can hear where the two sources are spliced together. I like to play this 'almost full' version between Cry Baby Cry and Revolution 9
Whether this was a lyric misstep by Paul or not it's very interesting to note that this song could be seen as some kind of internal monologue of someone who is unhappy with their current situation, but doesn't show anyone their true feelings; even when asked.
have to use my brother's account to make some things clear.
"Are you happy here my honey?"
"I AIN'T happy, here my honey, cant you take me back..?"
Ive always thought this was Paul wishing for the simpler times, i.e. before the fame/fortune. lots of people say this song is paul talking about LSD. He was famous for saying to the crew, before experimenting with the drug "Once we do this, theres no way back home" and stressed the importance on how LSD would change EVERYTHING in their world.
This deserved more than to be part of cry baby cry. It should be a song at least as a hidden track like her majesty. I mean wat's the difference, it has few words, but I want you she's so heavy was as well. It should have been at least a b-side single to some song of theirs.
