  • thanks for answered me, I will try to make it with the egg yolk ;)

    When I made this cake, after I pour the mix of milks, I put it in the fridge, then when it is a bit firmer I frost it and again it goes to the fridge.

    I suppose you could mix the milk mixture by hand with a whisk or fork, instead of a blender.

    I use most of the milk, there is usually around 1/3 cup left that is a waste, sorry.

    The milk mixture really makes this so good and good luck, I am sure you will do fine :-)

    I would describe as a flavorful cream or even heavy cream even though that was not used.

  • to all aussies watching this. the media crema stumped me but..... i found our verson. its exactly the same picture on the tin same size but its called table creme. i made this this morning its bugging me i just want to try it but i'll be good. i'll wait till tomorrow

    I had a roommate who made this for me years ago and he used the handle of a wooden spoon to poke the holes in the cake, he said it soaked up the milk better:-)

    I think it is used as a 'table cream' whatever that means.

    It has a wonderful taste and kind of looks curdled when you open it.

    I would say yes to your question.

  • @freitasex Definately, i mean dont get me wrong i love meringue but for a simple cake especially like this i would go with a whipped cream every time which is probably partly due to the fact that its such a comfort thing in food, but that leads to a deep psychological conversation and cake is no place for that o.o

  • Ooh, it's gorgeous. Of course you turned it from Tres Leches into quatro leches with the whipping cream! :) So it's not overly sweet then? It kind of looks like a pudding sort of thing. Yum.

    To me... no .. not overly sweet, but if you are worried about that, just do not add any sugar to the whipped cream.

    This last Thursday, I went to an Irish Pub in Nashville, Tennessee.

    Many the music was LOUD.

    The food was excellent, had some Mussels for appetizer, then what they called Dublin Stuffed Pork Tenderloin with taters and green beans.

    Had a pint of Harps beer to wash it down.

    It is a Mexican concoction, when you open the tins... it looks curdled and tastes wonderful.

    To me it sort of tastes like 1/2 american cream cheese diluted with 1/2 double cream.
