@vardiss22 I don't know about that, but when "Emergency" debuted back in 1972, I did notice that Kevin and Randy looked a little like Martin Milner and Kent McCord of "Adam 12". Of course since both shows were done by Mark 7 Limited and Universal, that was probably intentional.
@roquefortfiles wasn't able to do that, but i was able to manage together a kit that doubles the size of their `drug box' (which was the inspration) for that kit, & it cost a good $500.00 + to do that & it's still growing.
I watch Emergency! Greatest Rescues last night. This scene still brings a tear to my eye as it last time we will see deSoto and Gage together. I realize there were other movies, but they do not have touching sign-off as this scene does. I have all seasons of emergency! on dvd and love this show. I grew up in the 1970s as kid an remember this show being on saturday nights along with Starsky and Hutch!! The 1970s had some amazing tv shows.
The movies are due out next year. This is good scene and brings a tear to your eyes as the deSoto and Gage move on. I love this show growing up and have S1-S6 on dvd. I also had a father that was fireman and this show plays good homage to him along with the fire service. Other shows have come along like Code Red, Rescue Me, Trauma, Third Watch, but none of those shows do what emergency! did for paramedics/fire service esposure.

this should have been the last episode, but, the timing of the episode does not make it be the case. It kind of messes with the time scale, because they are captain, which would mean they left the paramedic program. The Captaincy would mean they move to different halls and different chapters. So, this to me is the fitting end to the series.
I would like to see the 2-hour movie of Emergency where Johnny & Roy go to Seattle to observe their paramedic program, which at the time was the best in the Country. I understand that Kevin now lives in the Seattle area.

Watching this reminds me of the final moments of "Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen," the final episode of M*A*S*H. Neither Gage nor DeSoto want to say the word "Goodbye," just like Hawkeye & BJ didn't want to say it to each other.
Not only was this the end of Emergency but IIRC it turned out to be the end of Jack Webb's career too, I say 'turned out' because Jack died before DRAGNET 1983 went into the production stages.
I know what you mean!! Just watching this scene, I found myself tearing up - kinda like at the end of MASH's finale, when B.J. and Hawkeye couldn't tell each other "goodbye." Roy & Johnny had a great friendship, just like B.J. & Pierce.

Um, To Whom It May Concern at Universal Studios, can you have your guys call Randy and Kevin's guys? Isn't that how that works? lol. I understand why he won't do a reunion show but I do hope the cast, or at least Randy and Kevin, are asked to give insights/interviews on any future Emergency! DVD releases and they agree to it. Randy was asked this past weekend (August 21, 2009) if they'd ever do a reunion show. He related watching a reunion show with the cast of Andy Griffith and said, "It was the sadest thing! I mean they were old!" He said he called Kevin and told him to promise he'd never agree to a reunion show....So, I guess that's a big "NO"

OMG that was so sad. I've been looking for that clip for like forever. I'm sad that it ended and i only just started watching it seriously for about 6 months. They should do a reunion special with all the actors that are still alive.

That's a good question - I would have thought that Joanne & the kids would have been there to see Roy get promoted!! I remember Joanne telling Dr. Brackett in the premiere - "I'm kind of proud of my guy, of what he wants to do..." - so why would she not be there when he gets promoted?

Yeah....or Johnny's captain at Station 10 - remember, the one who Johnny told in the series premiere, "Chief, I'm a rescue man. I trained to be a rescue man, and I LIKE being a rescue man!!" There were a lot of individuals that should have been there when they got promoted, but weren't.
This is the first time in 30 years that I have seen this scene as it was originally aired and I remember choking up then and I am choking up now. I read an interview with Randy about that day and he said though he and Kevin were looking forward to sleeping in after 5:00, lol, it was still a emotionally difficult day for them. I suspect they weren't completely acting in this scene. Thank you again for posting this. Boy, I miss seeing those two together.
