I am a 70yr old Grandma and still love Levon. My big wish is to see him once since I choose to stayed married after seeing TLW. Such talent ----hope he is around for many more. Shocked to see any negatives, what morons we have listening to their i pods or whatever. Go Levon.
@demusistip767 Thanks! Levon's touring this season. I was on the crew that videotaped his performance last weekend at the Philly Folk Fest. Although our footage is not yet available, I'm sure you'll enjoy seeing this audience member's video of their performance of "The Weight" - guests sitting in included David Amram, Dave Bromberg, and The Angel Band! Search YouTube for this title: "Philadelphia Folk Festival 2011: Levon Helm, David Bromberg and Friends"
@lancethrustworthy man, take a valium and chil.. I've been a card-carrying athiest since 1982, and i love this. truly genuine, heartfelt songwriting is key, and it's hard to find more heartfelt music than gospel. regardless of what you make of the subject matter, the music itself is beautiful. sure, it's about devotion to a non-existant entity. star wars depicts a completely impossible universe view, but that does not make it a crap movie... e tune music without
@yossarianhunter Good point my atheist friend. There is great literature and advice in the scriptures that is an advantage to any who reads it. "Where your heart is there will be your treasure."
Saw Levon and The Dirt Band do this at Red Rocks in '89 when the album came out.
The best part was we were there early during sound checks and Levon came out and sang this song acapella. I still have the vinyl as well. Doesn't get much better!
My dad used to listen to this whole album when I was young. He has passed on but every time I listen to this music I think of better times and can understand how he felt when he would listen to it; a sense of peace and serenity floods over me. It has shown me how much music can change a man. It truly reaches to a deeper level that cannot be explained.
Cabin Fever Entertainment! I knew I recognized the studio - the Black Crowes recorded a live album there last year - and levon and Truth & Salvage toured with them last year as well. Love you levon
Hey Jim, good choice! Levon Helm, the Original Arkansas Traveler, we all got our reward when these good old boys performed "When I Get My Reward", believe me baby, if it gets any better than this I probably won't be able to handle it! Thanks rghm for the upload, You Tube for the space, and The NGDB for keepin' on!
Jeff Hanna is great!!!! one of the most under-rated musican in Country music..... he is beautiful...................and, love his son, Jamie Hanna, he is great as well!!
@TheRacboys This whole album is worth listening to. There are so many legends of Country music in this video and on the CD that are no longer with us. This CD has been one of my favorites since it was released
My kind of band. Wonderful video. They sound like me when I'm playing my sax and guitar. Go a little higher, bring it up five half steps. Except I have to transpose it on paper first. These guys are class musicians and bring it up or down by ear.
I was a young soldier when this came out 20 some odd years ago. I had never heard of Levon Helm, but this song, and his voice, made me a huge fan. My cassette broke in the middle of this song, because I would play it, rewind, play it, rewind, play it.............
@JOELW999 I am a HUGE Levon fan! I have been since his days w/ The Band; saw them multiple times in the '70s; just saw Levon again in May. He always puts on an awesome show! I just happened upon this video; you don't find it when searching Levon. I was looking for NGDB's "Circle" and found this; just awesome! Levon is in beautiful voice! You know he has battled throat cancer; survived; had to re-learn to sing. He does not give up! Won 2 Grammys; So happy he is getting the recognition he deserves
Those were the days, well before the technology and real estate crash!

You guys are STILL doing stupid, mindless gospel music?? Shame on you.
Religion is a crippling thing; a bad thing. Wake up guys! Cram all that gospel crap!
