We all know Cheney and his sidekick (Bush) are in the oil business, not the helping America business. Bit it is strange that before we invaded Iraq they had signed contracts with China, France and Germany (Iraq would not let Haliburton in to explore) to explore the country for oil one the UN stopped the sanctions. But we invaded and voided all the exploration contracts. And hey guess who holds the largest exploration contract? Can you say Haliburton!

After all it wasn't until Cheney had the closed door energy meeting (with Enron setting at the head of the table beside Cheney) to create a new energy plan that prices started to shoot up. Strange isn't it. Remember Clinton forced the oil prices down in 1997 when OPEC decided to lower production. All he did was reduce his support for the King of S.A. and all of the sudden the king increased production.

Wildwilly1111, Nationalized industry means the government owns the industry. In our case the oil industry owns the Republicans. Although Bills have been put before congress over the last 8 years to required oil drilled here in the US to be sent to the US. This is what the Republicans say they want right. Oil independence means we use our oil! But they wont vote for these bills because its just the normal RNC lies.

the republicans want everybody to pay for the over 500 platforms that were destroyed by katrina for free. they will take the oil they get and sell it to opec. can someone tell me why our oil goes to opec then back to us. there are about 20 middle men raisin the price. learn the issues and put these criminals out to pasture. they only accomplish things thru the publics ignorance.
