I think people don't get what this movie is really trying to put across.

Its not about laughing about someone else's bad English, who are we to judge other people's accents?

Its a movie to showcase the brilliance and determination of the Chinese and their patriotism towards China by learning a new language to converse with foreigners.

it's very hard to learn a different language from what you used to speak or use for communication. I'm a filipina trying hard to learn and to speak in english because here in the Philippines it is a requirement for job seekers that you must know how to speak english.

Kyberavara has a point - we come off our native high horses when we try to learn Chinese (I've been laughed at many times over 5 years' immersion). China English is a perfectly understandable English variety if you are exposed to it, so let's not insult Chinese speakers as a whole. We should get used to it - there are 1 billion Chinese speakers of English expected in a few generations - if native speakers won't learn other languages, we'll at least have to understand other varieties of English!

i'm a student from singapore :D and went to beijing for a school trip. silk market is the best shopping paradise in beijing. but you can get cheated easily especially to foreigner like us :D but the people in china is friendly :D while staying in tianjin hotel, i realised there's a sign in the toilet that say "CAREFULLY SLIPS"! so i was thinking they actually want us to fall but with precaution :D GREAT WALL OF CHINA is the best :D

i watched this show and its extremely heart warming. not just some wacky nonsense about funny pronounciations. the dreams and hopes of some of the people learning english in china are truly touching. in singapore we often deride them for sticking with their own and only speaking their own language, but this film is a real eye opener.
