The best way to go is the poor man steady-cam.It only cost 14 dollars. The bad thing about it is you have to build it yourself because the guy is out of stock. He has the instructions and everything so it should be no problem.

Uh, dude, the cheapest Steadicam that's a true Steadicam with an arm, sled, and vest is about $6000. The higher end models are $30,000+. Also, Film cameras can cost over $50,000. My most used rig is a Flyer LE (about $9,000) and a Panasonic HPX-2000 (about $60,000 with a lens)

The higher price of stabilizers makes total sense when you consider the fact that they're made with more expensive cameras in mind. While you might be using an $800 DSLR camera (the T2i), those $1000 shoulder mounts you talk about are made with things like the $6000+ HPX and other cameras like it in mind.
