How do you know no one wants to work at McDonalds? With the economy still in bad shape as well as the process of getting a job being so competitive, most people are just greatful to have a job even if it is at a crap joint like McDonald's.
i agree half the mexicans i work with are illegal except one i love them they are nice people but my boss's daughter said that she overheard her dad tell the store owner he would prefer hiring mexicans cause they will work for anything and that is not right we have been hiring new people and they are basically mexican so the statment must be true from my bosses daughter.....ilegal and so sad :(

Well a lot of things mcd do is pretty low. They do all the kid stuff to get kids interested in Mcd at a young age. Knowing full well there food isn't even food. I haven't eaten realistically at Mcdonalds in 10 years. I did go there once about 6 years ago. When I wasn't feeling so well. (cold) so I left work and the only place open in the area was a McD's So I was really hungry bought a fry, and ate 1. and felt like I was gonna die. So I threw them away and drank a soda. Then went home and ate.

I nearly choked to death on a McD's McGriddle crapwich. They use this cheapo bacon and it was like chewing one large piece of rubber. It was actually 3 strips of bacon but it was fatty and all stuck together. I thought it was all chewed up and started to swallow and then began to choke. After I complained about their cheap quality of meat they gave me attitude about how it's top notch meat. They didn't even apologize until I got a letter from them containing "coupons" for more McGriddles. LOL
McDonalds is pretty much as unhealthy as food possibly can get, and it's half the reason my country america has such a bad reputation. "Fat people, shitty food"... what comes to mind? MCDONALDS. haha that's funny north american region of maccas really sux, i don't work for that part of maccas i'm overseas and we get 3 times as much pay as you do i get about 700 after tax per week working there and i'm just crew. We also have great crew incentives as well, it's sooooo much better than yours.....perk no 1 if you're a good crew you get free days at theme parks all expenses paid. But yes i don't like working there the customers treat you really badly.

I work at Mcdonalds, and it sucks. Anyone that "chooses" it as a career is, in all actuality, a moron. There is a reason that there are forty-five year olds working at Mcdonalds. Sorry this is my 1500+ character comment split into 3-4 comments. Wow. I have a few relatives that own many McDonalds stores. You REALLY have to get the facts about the situation and not believe some journalist's opinions of this ordeal. You contradict yourself way too much saying people want a decent job from around here, then saying nobody wants to work there. If you don't mind me asking: what kind of career do you have?
This is my point of view (15 yrs old, male) because we have incorporated this program into our restaurants. Please, as many people may have said: please don't make assumptions especially something so big and possibly beneficial to the entire economy. As well as putting down the people who work for this company.
If anything this new program that Mcdonalds Canada has started is going to benefit both the foreign individual and the company itself. It is just like hiring any other Canadian worker, but the money will go to a less fortunate individual/family.
I manage a McDonalds in Saskatchewan and I don't know what you are eating, but the food is good. The employment is good. And the wage is good. Alberta's minimum wage is 6 bucks? Ours is nearly 8. The foreign workers that are being brought to Canada are being paid EXACTLY the same as everyone else and they are on contracts for a certain time period under the discretion of the owner/operator.

I never said I was too good for the job, I am saying that Canada should be looking in their own backyard first. This is a government sponsored thing, with the visas and all, and the government has been complaining of immigration troubles, yet they are the ones causing those problems for Canadians! haha that's funny north american region of maccas really sux, i don't work for that part of maccas i'm overseas and we get 3 times as much pay as you do i get about 700 after tax per week working there and i'm just crew. We also have great crew incentives as well, it's sooooo much better than yours.....perk no 1 if you're a good crew you get free days at theme parks all expenses paid. But yes i don't like working there the customers treat you really badly.

I work at Mcdonalds, and it sucks. Anyone that "chooses" it as a career is, in all actuality, a moron. There is a reason that there are forty-five year olds working at Mcdonalds. Trust me, it's not because they are Rhodes Scholars. I have absolutely no intention of staying there for very long. But, it is a job. Any job I can have to help pay for school will suffice for now. It beats selling Crack.

I manage a McDonalds in Saskatchewan and I don't know what you are eating, but the food is good. The employment is good. And the wage is good. Alberta's minimum wage is 6 bucks? Ours is nearly 8. The foreign workers that are being brought to Canada are being paid EXACTLY the same as everyone else and they are on contracts for a certain time period under the discretion of the owner/operator.

unemployment rates in alberta are at an alltime low, at 3.4%, but across Canada, it ranges as high as 14-15%. It's not just alberta that we need to be looking at, but all across our land BEFORE going outside the country, all they care about though, is saving money on wages, if they go to Mexico, they save a bundle and pocket it all!

In fact, people who work part time are paid less at McDonalds in particular, than those who work full time, and I think that is unfair to those who are not able to work fulltime hours, due to personal problems or school, or to the other 2 jobs that they already work to keep their heads above water!

I never said I was too good for the job, I am saying that Canada should be looking in their own backyard first. This is a government sponsored thing, with the visas and all, and the government has been complaining of immigration troubles, yet they are the ones causing those problems for Canadians! It is not the Mexicans fault, I love mexicans, and I am glad that they can have employment, I just don't agree with how it is being done, and this is NOT the only instance of this happening!

The Pan-American Union is a concerted effort to bring North & Central Americas under one rule. It is one step towards merging the EU (includes Britain, which rules Canada) into the US/Pan-Am deal.
