  • Yuzo Koshiro

  • Is it weird that I didn't grow up in the 90's and played games like actraiser my whole life and would rather play those than the newer games they have?

  • @1mermaidbethany You wouldn't be alone.

  • @Superscoper7 thxs :) my older cousins gave my parents their old snes when i was little and i got it passed down to me and would rather play actraisers, super mario world, donkey kong country 2,ect than play the wii any day :D

  • DAT BASS!!!!

    funky as fuck

  • Nice.

  • What a gem I missed out on as a kid. I would have bought this game the minute I heard this.

On the plus side, my imagination runs wild when I heard this.

  • It's funny that people compare this to Castlevania music, considering the same composer later had a part in scoring Portrait of Ruin.

  • This game is 20 years old and it is better than 95% of todays video game music.

  • @cancerbubble85 its Yuzo Koshiro, the guys music beats 95% of all vg soundtracks.

  • sounds like a castlevania theme. love it.

  • Is it just me or do I spot some Castlevania in this tune? Don't get me wrong though, It's fantastic :]

  • This game was hard as hell, the first time I played it. But oh man how I loved the songs. SNES must be the console in gaming history with the most memorable tunes. Like if you agree!

  • Yuzo Koshiro is such a genious... Less is better!

  • Behold! The return of God Almighty, to smite the evils of Tanzra!

  • Yuzo Koshiro FTW

  • One word........ BEAST!!!

  • I had a headache, then I came here and it relieved my headache!

Thank The Master for this music!

  • This could be in Goldeneye game.

  • First came God,

    Then came the Blazer,

    Then came The Dark knight

Then came... well... someone else would have to fill that spot, I never played Terranigma. Lol. All I know is that his name is Ark.

  • Beware everyone who walks into a forest, God will come down and start kicking your ass.

  • what a game, it really did have a medieval atmosphere feel to it and the music made it

  • This is the only game I remember seeing a tree dance to the music.

  • this song really sounds like its from castlevania

  • Awesome music! There needs to be a few of those "haw" sounds the guy makes when you swing your sword, though. This music just isn't the same without them...

  • When I think of an epic battle of Heaven vs. Hell, angels vs. demons, good vs. evil.........naturally the first thing that comes to mind is a funky bassline.

  • @rawful LOL

I thought about it the first time I noticed it too. Haha,

  • When I'm alone I air-basslap to this bad boy.

  • Yuzo Koshiro is the man!

  • This tune blew my mind when I got my SNES.

  • I always love this bgm. Should have used it for final battle. Its full of epic win!!

  • Damn I use to have this game when I was nine years old and this sound track still hits my ears really hard got to love it

  • Thumbs up if you just now hunted down a SNES, this game, Super Castlevania 4, or any of the above.

  • Thumbs up if your thumbs were down on this game ^u^

  • @Marasg89 :C

  • good song!!!!!!!

  • Bass slap is slappy!

  • See also "SNES Mash up Ne-yo Because of Actraiser"

  • Breath of Fire music is the best!

  • Fav song of this game *_*

    got this on a Xmas when I was a kid....ah memories ^^

  • Games like Final Fantasy get all the attention, this game didn't get hyped nearly enough.

FF- Awesome series but it's done all it can do

DQ- I always thought it was boring as hell

Mana Games- More room for improvement

Actraiser- WTH A great 1st game, a decent prequal and then nothing? You play a GOD there is TONS of room to go from there.

  • 20 years later this song still kicks ass

    Happy 20th Anniversary Actrasier

  • God damn i miss this game :(

  • Yuzo Koshiro composed this when he was 19??? that just shows that he is a freaking GOD of VGM!!

  • a true classic <3

  • I love how this combines church organ with disco bass line. Doesn't get much better XD

  • 0 atheists visited here! Sweet!

  • 0 people...wait, what?

  • @Dickmaster93alt Actually, its another reason why Yuzo Koshiro is a Legend!!

  • This theme reminds me so much of Castlevania it's unbelievable.

  • Beat it on real snes like thousand times,

    and again again on Emulator

and again and again on Wii Virtual console

    This game has a curse

    Damn gumby

  • Hey guys, you should check out Shinsei Nihon Symphony - Filmoa here. It's a very good re-imagining of this song.

  • i love the bass/rhythm on the super nintendo --- one of the reasons it was superior to the genesis

  • Yuzo Koshiro is a genius.

  • this tune is awesome.

  • Un chef d'oeuvre de la Super Nintendo.

  • Listen to that bass!!! So badass

  • I'm not quite sure of the details, but I read in a Yuzo Koshiro interview that one of Quintet's programmers was able to use cartridge memory to boost the SNES's overall sound capabilities. This is, supposedly, why ActRaiser's sound quality gives other SNES launch titles a run for their money.

  • As good as the rest of the game's music is, I would be perfectly happy if this was the only track used on the platforming levels.

Like I said, the rest of the tracks are great, but this is the only one that makes me feel like a god leaving a path of utter destruction in my wake.

  • thumbs up if you think Square Enix should make ActRaiser 3.

  • @ShibainuSakura95 personaly i would love an actraiser 3, any game square enix makes is for some reason reincarnated with better graphics and a deeper story like from actraiser 1-2 and soul blazer all the way to terranigma- i only hope they make it better then the last

  • @ShibainuSakura95 they most likey won't have the rights to make it happen, after all it was Quintet that made the games and enix just published them. and of course, l don't think many of us want it to have the horrid Square Enix taint.

  • @1shoryuken I actually learned recently that Square Enix holds the IP, and that 2 years ago some higher up in SE said he was interested in making another Actraiser. 2 years and no word, but still it's comforting to see that the idea is moving around.

IF they make one it better be fricken good, it should have good hack and slash bits, enhanced god game bits, the master should be fleshed out a little better, and most importantly of all the music better be damn good.

  • @Connman555 I'd love to see a squeal but with Square Enix developing???, they would rather make it and slap the Final Fantasy title on it, im still waiting for a squeal to Square's fantastic game 'Einhander' and a new 'Bushido Blade' but it seems like SE would rather see how many FF games they can milk out, but hey the FF series is in serious trouble now since XIV made them look like a joke.

  • @1shoryuken Yeah Final fantasy is dead, hell at least we got memories of them. They need to develop these games better! They need to know that although graphics are cool they don't make the game good. If they gave actraiser the Final fantasy treatment I would go to Japan and kill them all.

  • @Connman555 lol, im just wondering, how did Square Enix obtain the rights for Actraiser? l know that Enix published the games and had a strong partnership with Quintet, but ever since the merge of Square Enix the company Quintet has been mysteriously silent and non-active since 2002, bit of a coincidence.

  • @1shoryuken Enix I'm not sure how things like IP work, I just know that Enix had the IP and when Square then them merged they still hold the IP. Quintet shut down in 2008, after their Super Nintendo (Actraiser 1/2, Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia) they slowly quit producing high quality games. Some of their members though have been seen in the credits of other games, so I'm assuming that former Quintet workers were absorbed into other developers.

  • @1shoryuken FINALLY, someone else who wants a sequel to Einhander as wellXD I know there's others, but I never see them speak up.

  • @ShibainuSakura95 Hopefully they'll learn their mistakes from ActRaiser 2 x.x

  • @ShibainuSakura95 Yeah, since Quintet died.

  • @ShibainuSakura95

That might not be possible. :|

The developer Quintet went bankrupt in 2009.

  • @ImmaGeneralBlue However Square-Enix holds the rights to ActRaiser. It might be possible, but I don't think they will.

  • @ShibainuSakura95 I personally didn't like the 2'nd one. They cut out the whole helping the town people mode, which was like 50% of the game in the first one. So I feel like the game would just spiral downward even more. But then again, I hope im wrong

  • @gnargnarforsure I hope they make an ActRaiser: Reincarnation on WiiWare or WiiUWare (For Wii U) and you can build towns and stuff like you did in the original and of course the "Castlevania style" side scrolling action based stages would return as usual.

  • @03bgood Now that! is what I want! Good thinking!

  • @ShibainuSakura95 Thumbed Down because Square-Enix shouldn't Exist.. It should be Enix and Squaresoft... I would never consider any of their games to be worth "Game of the Year"

  • I really hope this music plays all around the world when the Rapture begins.

  • I literally just came a produced about a quart of nostalgic jizz..........nostaljiz again

  • Comment removed

  • It's so sad to know that the people who made Actraiser and the Soul Blazer trilogy (Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma) are disbanded. A DS Actraiser would've been so awesome.

  • @Ralphiriusgr8 thats retarded of them to get rid of those genius people

  • 1:30 best part :3

  • man, i was 5 years old when this game came out. my father rented this game for me and my brother at a rental store. This games music have stayed with me for years. just hearing now makes me want move.

  • Love!

  • hands down one of the most underrated games on the SNES..this game is very much both fun and memorable.

  • I really enjoyed this song back in the SNES generation.

  • So glad there's other people out there who remember this. Awesome! :)

  • Man, the box art to the game is the stuff of legends!

  • Yuzo Koshiro = Legend

This. Super Shinobi/The revenge of Shinobi. Bareknuckle/streets of rage the list goes on.

He is to video game music what John Williams is Movie music.

  • noooooo that would be Nobuo Uematsu Koichi Sugiyama a close second

  • what about Koji Kondo? The Master behind the Legend of Zelda, among others.

  • I Have to try get this game to my SNES, but in Finland it will be pretty hard. :(

  • It sounds like castlevania =), And that's good!!

  • actraiser was a beastly game 5 stars to super metriod

  • marvelous

  • Could this be the BIRTH OF GOTH!!!???? ;) +5

  • Every time I walk into a forest, I hear this

  • @Beafypotato your not the only one lol

  • @Beafypotato Every time a tree hears this he dances

  • the music is somthing like out of a movie as well perfect!

  • this song is kickass!

  • the entire game, including all songs is kickass.

  • De la Bombe !

  • Terranigma was awesome but personally I think there were some way better games out there..such as Secret of Mana 2..of course it wasn't released in the US or Europe so you can most likely only play the translated version on the emulator under the name ''Seiken Densetsu 3'' Don't let the name fool you. If you find the right version, It's in English.

  • Who knows, maybe Secret of Mana 2 wall be released on the Virtual Console as an import for 900 points!

  • @03bgood That would be nice. One of the best RPG's on the SNES.

  • @Screwattacker

    kiss my ass screwattacker.

1.) SD3 but..kiss my ass this IS better

    2.) "Screwattack" ....fuck off.

  • @feh2 Okay, relax, dude, I commented on the video a year ago, didn't expect to be verbally attacked. First of all, I think SD3 is better than Terranigma, that's my opinion, I'm entitled to it without having to kiss your ass. Second, I made this account a billion years ago, being a giant Screwattack fan and I have since regretted the name choice, which is why I made a new channel years ago. You don't have to be such a jackass about it.

  • @feh2 Hahaha, you're a giant faggot.

  • @chosentonessournotes

and you sir are a tool. Sutering Faggot is no better then DJKeemstar, Kraig treats his fans like shit.

  • @feh2 I'm not even referring to the fact that you hate on ScrewAttack. I'm just calling you a faggot for berating someone who doesn't agree with you. Go away, faggot.

  • @Screwattacker Or if you want to play it on your snes, there is a way that can be doen with Pliers, an exacto knife, and sandpaper. But that won't be translated.

  • Terranigma wasn't released in the NTSC territory I believe. I was only released in PAL territories. However I'd love to play it if they ever release it on the Virtual Console.

  • i still play this after 19 years, simply amazing. this is totally from my time. no 128 bit quadcore stuff but beautifull worked out concepts by the best japanese game developers that still rocks after all that time .. this will never fade

  • Digging that tag line.

    This song is great!

  • dude this is amazing...

  • awsome music

  • I remember when I first saw this game, when the SNES came out. It blew all of us away with its concept, the spiraling descent sequence, and the music. The perfect showcase of what the SNES sound chip could do.

  • love that bass, awesome game

  • It's an Orc Party!

  • This is why I love Yuzo Koshiro.

  • Agreed :)

  • double agreed

  • Ye, Yuzo Koshiro is just a legend

  • create order from chaos? or what says the spell on that game :D doesnt matter it RULES! ^^

  • If someone at OCRemix could make a remix of this tune. Would be epic.

  • Try McVaffe's. I think it's called Fillmore Freestyle and it is definitely epic. djpretzel made one too but it isn't as good.

  • Thanks.

  • I'm in the process of remixing this song, and I'm actually going to use my bass in it (for slap)

  • This does have that "NES" Simon Belmon/Castlvania sound to it. The piano organ in it makes it sound so, i guess.

    Sick beat none the less.

  • ugh this game was fucking awesome! Thanks for posting this, it brings back memories.

  • I have always played this. It definitely belongs in the top 6, along with Super Mario World, King Of Dragons, Judge Dredd, Super Punch Out, and Megaman X (Any good Megaman Xs is with Megaman X and Zero is there too), Long Live Act Raiser!

  • I love Act Raiser I always play it on my SNES that still works. I have to say it's right up there on the top 5, along with Super Mario World 1, King of Dragons, Super Punch-Out, and Judge Dredd!

  • I love this game, but I do notice the influences from other game son this....which doesn't mean that's a bad thing at all!

  • I hear this and it sounds like it could be from the Castlevania games. Oh well, love this song!

  • I know what you mean! Sounding like Castlevania is NEVER a bad thing.

  • Oh yeah baby, time to go lift some iron and build something with my other hand.

  • its funny...video game music never really sounded like anything that would match up with the late 80s or 90s in music, it sounds like new ae Metal music, way ahead of its time

  • that brings back memories man.

  • Ohh man Smite Evil!!! >:3

  • Damn, this makes my blood pumping. Kick-ass game

  • Damn straight !!

  • This game got me so pumped I almost jump-kicked my mom.

  • haahaahaaaha

  • I almost forgot about this...my god.

  • Time to smite some SOBs!

  • AWESOME!

  • GODLY!!!!!!

  • I've never played the game...

but this song is making me want to. XD

  • No, actually the two songs are completely different.

  • This game was always my favorite on SNES. The music is just amazing.

  • For me, it sounds like biblical Castlevania music.

  • That's kinda funny because this game reminds of both Castlevania and Civilization.

  • I bought the original PAL cart not too long ago, the game is truly great. Hard to find on eBay though since only 40,000 copies were sold in Europe

  • Oh really? I never had problems to find this game for my SNES. Well, maybe i just had big luck, if only 40.000 were sold :).

  • It's a shame that Actraiser's formula of mixing a city builder and platformer didn't catch on. On the other hand, I don't think any game could've done it as well as Actraiser did, so perhaps it's for the best. Regardless, we got some great music out of it.

  • Yuzo was inspired by John William music with this game.

Not sure if you knew that, just thought i'd spread the word.

  • unbelievable - such good music. Better than anything else at the time

  • I have to say that Actraiser has one of the best Game music ever!

  • classic yuzo

  • Create order from chaos!

  • one of the best snes tracks i ever heard!

  • I never had the chance to play this game but the music is amazing.

  • You have to play it! Its an awesome game. You can play it on your computer by downloading "Bsnes" emulator and then downloading "Acraiser ROM". enjoy :)

  • It's also on the Wii Virtual Console.

  • play it on the virtual console. but get the rom on the computer first to try it out. then buy it on the virtual console.

  • Now THAT'S kick ass music! Especialy for it's time!

  • @Fakafon Agreed underrated games.

    Brainlord
