There are good reasons why we left the system and almost nobody else uses it. As for abortion, it really doesn't matter to me if the state or federal government is denying a woman's right to an abortion, it still is not right and hypocritical of a libertarian.

@arenbesim10 In the long term it may increase increase stability, but in the short term it does increase volatility, look it up on Wikipedia if you don't believe me. And the long term stability isn't always a good thing if you need to increase credit such as getting the US out of a recession.
Also, leaving it up to the states to decide everything is a cop out, you might as well not have a US government then (and the Civil War and Article of Confederation show the problems there).
@Gwyrddu Well that leads onto another point. USA has a spending problem. the national debt is around 17 000 000 000 dollars and increasing the quantitive easing is, to be frank, foolish. Ron Paul would stop the overseas spending on illegal wars and foreign aid, resulting in huge credit increases.
I think the problem is too much government interference and the littler the government does the better.
In relative terms to our GDP though, our debt ranks about 14 at about 94%. Which isn't as dire as many claim it is.
I agree that we need to tone down our military expenses, but Obama is already moving in that direction. Not only are all ground troops out of Iraq and troops being removed from Afghan, but soon congress will be faced with an across the board cut in the military.
As long as the gap between rich and poor is growing though, government isn't doing enough.

Secondly, we don't need anyone to invest in moving more jobs overseas because that doesn't help the US at all. What we need is more money in the hands of poor so they can buy more goods and services, boosting the economy (Alcohol is legal and taxed btw). That means the rich need to taxed more to compensate.

@Gwyrddu Here are some campaign promises from 08; Repeal the Patriot Act (NDAA), close Guantanamo, end the wars(we're now drone bombing Yemen, Pakistan and Samalia....we're also paying defense contracors a lot of money for the priveledge of Obama being able to say we're out of Iraq), cut the national debt in half by the end of his first term, raise taxes on the wealthy(along with a democratic senate majority he extended Bush cuts) , end lobbying in the White House (Solyandra).
@jdowfleetwood So it surprises you that Obama hasn't completely fulfilled all his campaign promises, as if that is something that anyone who has been president has done? And most of the things on the list are the result of compromises where Obama at least attempted to implement the policies he mentioned. For example, Obama did create a policy where you couldn't work for the White House if you ever lobbied for a related industry. He's also holding the line on the Bush tax cut now as they expire.

@Gwyrddu Dead wrong.. Politifact is talking about capital gains rates.. On taxable income it is the same for Warren Buffet as it is for his secretary.. 35%.. The thing of it is, he gets taxed when he initially invests, then he gets taxed if it makes a profit, which is called capital gains.. When he takes money out to pay his self he pays 35%.. So he gets taxes anywhere between 9 to 12% initially, 15% on the end, and then 35% personally.. So he is paying over 50% before right offs. FAIL

I think you are mistaken about congress putting the "offending" bits in the bill cos its passed congress then Obama ordered the language to be changed making it unclear just who could be targeted resulting in the approval of including Americans in the bill.

The truth is that no one group has a consensus on how this country should be run or even what serves their interests. Warren Buffet is the third richest man in the world, yet is quite vocal about how he isn't taxed enough. If Obama didn't have at least some friends on Wall Street, he probably wouldn't be president now, because money = votes. That's a problem with the system, not Obama.

Ultimately, whether you despise school or not depends largely on the quality and passion of your teachers. While I'm not too sure I agree with Obama's approach, I understand why he's doing it. He also slyly manipulated the audience by giving the impression that he includes shale-rock oil extrapolation as part of clean energy; however, if you listen carefully, he excludes it from the term then proceeds to request Congress to support it as if that (clean-energy) would include shale-rock oil extrapolation.

Reading the commentary on this video makes me very sad for the state of America. Get educated and open your eyes. There are good reasons why we left the system and almost nobody else uses it. @arenbesim10 In the long term it may increase increase stability, but in the short term it does increase volatility, look it up on Wikipedia if you don't believe me. And the long term stability isn't always a good thing if you need to increase credit such as getting the US out of a recession.
Also, leaving it up to the states to decide everything is a cop out, you might as well not have a US government then (and the Civil War and Article of Confederation show the problems there).

In relative terms to our GDP though, our debt ranks about 14 at about 94%. Which isn't as dire as many claim it is.
I agree that we need to tone down our military expenses, but Obama is already moving in that direction. Not only are all ground troops out of Iraq and troops being removed from Afghan, but soon congress will be faced with an across the board cut in the military.
As long as the gap between rich and poor is growing though, government isn't doing enough.

And most of the things on the list are the result of compromises where Obama at least attempted to implement the policies he mentioned. For example, Obama did create a policy where you couldn't work for the White House if you ever lobbied for a related industry. He's also holding the line on the Bush tax cut now as they expire.

The thing of it is, he gets taxed when he initially invests, then he gets taxed if it makes a profit, which is called capital gains.. When he takes money out to pay his self he pays 35%.. So he gets taxes anywhere between 9 to 12% initially, 15% on the end, and then 35% personally.. So he is paying over 50% before right offs. FAIL

I think you are mistaken about congress putting the "offending" bits in the bill cos its passed congress then Obama ordered the language to be changed making it unclear just who could be targeted resulting in the approval of including Americans in the bill.

Obama tried to change the language, but mostly failed. The current compromise version of the bill still makes it clear it doesn't supersede current US law, so it's open to question what it will actually allow the president to do. Also, the bailouts were paid back, meaning net tax burden should be 0.
