LMAO@HOW YOU WENT TO THE CLIPS OF "TURN MY SH1T UP"..
AS FAR AS HIS SHOWS GO..HE'S GETTIN' TO THE POINT WHERE HE'S ABOUT TO STOP DOIN' SHOWS SO IT'S LIKE HE'S GOING THROUGH THE MOTIONS AND BORED WITH IT..YEAH..HE PROBABLY HAS A HEARING PROBLEM TOO..
Also - yelling at the sound guy is usually a sign that the artist is having trouble hearing themselves. This is supported by the fact that he had feedback issues after that. probably means the sound guy was an amateur.
That's hilarious about Serato.. LOL.. With you on that. Seems silly for a big artist like that to even bother mentioning.
Like the review !! But for the record - I've NEVER heard of an opening act paying to be on a tour. I know the hip-hop scene tends to do business in some ...let's say "unusual" ways. But I can safely say I've NEVER heard of that.
Solid review though :) Good amount of detail.. lotta blogs and stuff are a little skimpy on the details sometimes. Keep it up !!!!
@yourmanwatson yeah, I wasn't too sure about that, just something I heard around the way. thanks for watching and for your comments :) take care and happy new year
Learn about the art of Turntablism before you start in on the vinyl vs. serato debate. You come off looking foolish. Put some time in the hip-hop community and know what your talking about instead of shopping for silly hipster glasses. Cheers!
@micodin808 she's married to a "turntablist", has a circle of friends of some of the top DJs, MCs, graf artists, bboys and promoters in the city. She's BEEN supporting our city's scene as well as contributing for years. If you don't know someone personally, it's a pretty dumb look to personally attack them because YOU come off looking foolish.
@djcsik Cool. Marrying a "turntablist" having a circle of friends that bomb, DJ, MC, blah blah blah doesn't mean putting in work and knowing what your talking about. Thats like me saying all my friends sell weight, I support the drug scene so I automatically know everything about weight and should do a video blog about it after going to a crack den. Dont allow comments if you don't want to hear feedback. Way to come to her rescue. Shivery is not dead. But those hipster glasses are still suspect.
@micodin808 lol you said "put some time in the hip-hop community" so I was letting you know that she HAS and IS part of the hip-hop community. She knows as much about turntablism as me all the way up until the technical points of how to triple click your cross fader. I can go on for days about how much merit she has to be able to comment on "vinyl vs serato" but all it would take would be a 1 on 1 convo with you and her to prove my point. Ur not giving feedback that makes sense, that's my point
@djcsik Word. Have a nice Sunday. It's Sunday right? Word. Cheese plate and wine is calling me. Phone is blowing up from girls wanting to kill the Pee Pee. Earth smoke. Cheers, Kid!
@micodin808 And what the hell does someone's fashion sense have to do with their knowledge or right to comment on "vinyl vs serato". "Sorry I can't take your comment seriously, because that article of clothing you have on does not make you seem like you understand hip-hop" C'mon.
PS. It's "chivalry". Shivery would mean that I am shaking because it's cold.
@micodin808 ...and if you look at the rest of the video comments, yah not everybody agrees with her points in the video but they can actually relay their opinions in a conversational matter and disagree with her in a respectful way. You're just talkin' like an asshole.
@djcsik Just speaking my mind. It happens when I smoke too much earth. Lets dead this, I'm about to eat a nice cheese plate and drink some wine. Smoke some more earth. You know... the regular. You like cheese? Cheers.
Alot of people don't really understand why krs preaches how he does. He was 14 and homeless when he started rapping. He was taken in by a group of people who studied ancient spirituallty from India, and I beleive named him young Krishna. Say what you will about his opinions but he is some one living in his truth, and always has.He started a real spiritual growth at 14 which, to be frank, is very rare in our culture. Most people who grew up in classic hip hop are 30# now, shit ain't the same man!
Very well done! I have to say my night at KRS was amazing! You did point out some unexpected happenings that night. To me KRS-ONE is more then another emcee. I've been into REAL Yoga and meditation practices for over 2 years now. In my opinion he gives of a healing vibration simular to other sprirtual teachers like the Dahli Lama/Deepak Chopra I've seen before. His energy had the auidence captivated when he was taliking about texting and no computer can replace the human! = Live your truth!
@Darren9707 Thanks Darren for your comment! I am always interested in hearing how other people experience shows, which is one reason why I wanted to start doing reviews. KRS' life story is certainly very inspiring and I agree with you that he is a real original, one-of-a-kind musician and human. I would still see him again, if it was the right venue/event! I'd love to see him at a big festival or event like RTB. Thanks again for your comment!
@itsjosiecruz Hey,funny you mention RTB, i've been to San fran the last 2 years for it. in10 he performed criminal minded,it was dope, but calgarys show was better,he's a better performer in an intimate setting, cmn wealth was perfect! If you have never been to the states for RTB it's HEAVEN! if your a hip hop head, I've seen all my favorate artists now. in 2010 tribe performed and they are on the bill every second year so that is an amazing expierence.
@itsjosiecruz I didn't see all of krs set, i missed the last 15min or so to see some off immortal technique on the other stage. But i heard later he just walked of the stage....like in calgary? If i wasn't as much of a krs head I would have been disapointed in parts of the show, like him wondering the crowd and dragging the freestyles on for so long. The end of the show was him jumping back in the crowd and it looked like he left with some of the people from the crowd?
MCs are who they are because they are honest and upfront. they arent political figures, they are straight to the point, speak their mind when they think it. what comes out in a freestyle is what comes out and what was on his head. as for serato, just another thing that was on his mind. but t serato IS wack and makes doing things easy enough for kids to grasp.
@grimeshine I appreciate your point of view. Like I said in the video, though there are those "kids" who start DJing on serato without learning the craft from the ground up, I personally don't think serato is wack because I get to see first-hand what some DJs (who started on vinyl) are able to do with it. It's a pretty amazing piece of technology in my opinion, but everyone is entitled to their own! Thx for watching :)
At the start of the year his shows were crazy but after the earthquack in Japan they have not been his best. Thanks for the review BTW. Oh and I don't know if he did his 2012 freestyle but the first time he did that freestyle it was 10x better then any other time.
The whole serato thing is personal to him and he has had many a bad show because DJ that work with him and use it are either too slow or don't know what they are doing so thats why he has hate now for it even though he keeps on having DJ at his shows that use it. lol that makes no sense.
Sounds like you just had a bad show. I watched other shows of his on youtube and sum are really really good and then some are meh. His past few shows in Canada has been really weak from the videos I seen.
@kekkan I think having his own DJ would really cut down the possibility that things could go wrong as well: he has been using local DJs from each city he performs in which adds another uncontrollable variable because then you have to make sure they know what they are doing lol! Thanks for watching :)
@itsjosiecruz Maybe it could be a deal like the opening acts you said maybe they get on the bill and he can not control it IDK. His brother is a Dj I don't understand why he does not tour with him. No problem and at least you had a good time thats all that matters.
