@virgokys Pics: Synce in Photos tab when syncing to itunes. Messages: no they dont transfer over. Application contents if saved in a profile under gamecenter or the app itself then you will just have to transfer your profile meaning just sign in using username and passwords.. They will transfer then. Everything like notes, reminders, calenders, all that transfer. Music and Pics need to be checked in the box and will back up when you back it up and then will transfer.. any other questions??

hey great video! does this method transfer my game data and save games too? and i have an ipod touch 3 with ios 4.2 so will its backup transfer to my new ipod touch 4 with ios5? thanks!

@prtdesai95 usually doesnt bring apps over, but if you use the same itunes account with new phone and you download the same apps you wont have to repay for them. also in the gamecenter it keeps your game data and records saved under your username.

@hauming8 couple things: resync and make sure the Apps tab has a check mark in the box for all apps.. then sync also make sure your itunes is authorized (basically make sure your signed in under the right email and password. Also if you dont have them on there and you know which ones they are and you already purchased them, just redownload them and they wont charge you.

does this also transfer the actual cell phone number so you dont have to get a new one?

@Travis9009 thought you were kidding but no the sim card carries the number and information about the phone owner.. You would take your old sim card out and put into new one.. 3gs to 3gs or 3g you can use same sim card.. 3gs to 4, 4s you have to get a new one.. its free just go to att store.. If you have verizon then you just need to call the verizon or go into store just tell them the new imei number of the cell phone..

1 question I have is...My 3g was saved under my boyfriend's name..so everytime I plug it in..it says Sam blah blah blah..

now with this new phone I have my own itunes id etc etc...

once I back up everything from my 3g..will my iphone 4 also take up the name Sam?? or can I have it acknowledge my new itunes username etc?

@Starchiq yea i will make a video of it.. if you cant seem to do this.. open up itunes.. connect "SAM" to the computer lol when you see the device name, then hover the curser of "SAM" name double click and you can change it to anything you want..

A. Do you have a gmail account connected to it, that your syncing your contacts to?

B. Are any contacts not saved in your contacts now on your sim card? if so you might have to transfer from there.. if not just try to sync them again..

C. Not sure man.

@beibluv it should and you know i really never looked at it.. most of the time if you delete a conversation you can resync or restore your phone and they will somehow be there.. but i am far from knowing that one.. sorry this didnt help , but i think it does.. good luck

contacts yea just make sure you back up your 3g and then restore from back up and as you sync make sure all is selected in each one of the tabs, contacts, music, photos, etc. The photos if they arent on your computer already might not sync. What i suggest is plug in your 3g first and copy them all into a folder say OLD PHONE and then put that folder into the folder you sync your phone album too, and here gives you a seperate folder for old pics and all photos on your phone.. hope this helps..

alot of things are easier with same apple to apple or microsoft to microsoft just cause most compatible things are easier when common. Apple does do a great job for making it applicable to Microsoft and windows, just a couple different steps.. if you need a step by step let me know..

it will back up everything accept music and photos due to they are based out of certain files..i.e. the music is in the library (if you same itunes and computer) and pictures are in same file i.e. my pictures etc.. contacts, can be saved if you sync with Outlook and/or GMAIL i would make a dummy account and just be like savedcontacts@gmail.com or something.. apps and all are on your account.. messages, notes, voice memos, ring tones, etc etc etc.. and calendar, yes

I am surprised it doesn't work. So what your saying is that the old iPhone 3GS has a newer version of O/S.. Like a 4.3.2 and the new iPhone 4 has the 4.1.1 for example? Shouldnt matter cause you are just backing up the old one then restore from old which jn turn will update the new one! Sorry thats all I can think unless you try and update the iPhone 4 first to recent O/S then try restore..
