They outsourced the union custodians in my town. Now the schools look horrible and are unsafe. This country is falling apart. The powerful step all over the little guy.
At the first meeting, We talked about getting the same program that Jordan School District is using now. We talked about this at the first meeting before you went to your meeting. Check with the Custodial rep's in te district. He is a elementary head custodian and you will see what we are doing if you want to join in on what we are trying to do. We are lating the goals and planning for what most of us feel will be great for custodial and let custidian know more about their jobs and training.
@denkar2009 It's up to the end user(districts, head custodians, etc) to decide whether or not they want to do (OS1). It sounds like which ever district or school you work in has it's own plan...and that's great. Of course, we are going to be advocates of our program because we have data that proves that it does work. However, we certainly don't go around forcing people to do (OS1). We only get involved if someone asks for our help or expresses some kind of interest in our program.
You are totally wrong. You were asked to be with a group of us to address this very same problem. We are working on this and were you there in the meeting? NO, you were a no show.
@denkar2009 Not sure what meeting you are referring to exactly. Every meeting that we (ManageMen) have been invited to, and known about...we've shown up. The initial meeting with the district/head custodians we were supposed to have, we were told was canceled and not to come. The 2nd meeting we had was supposed to be out at the central warehouse, we showed up...and nobody else did. The 3rd meeting was out at Taylorsville High with a handful of head custodians in the district.
Great job Lowell. You speak for lot of people who do not have the courage to do so. Understand you are not alone and that you have the support of all of us who have also made sacrifices to do what is best for our profession and our Districts. Keep fighting the good fight and let me know if there is anything I can do to help in the process of getting your District on board with (OS1)!
