Strange question, but what brand of saddle is that in your video? How's the quality of it? I really like it and I'm in the market for a new one!

I know this is probably a really stupid question but I have only ridden english my whole life so I have no clue about western, why is there the piece of metal on the girth if your not going to put it through a hole on that starp thing?

When a horse goes down with a saddle everything stretches and tightens. I could not get that cinch strap undone for the life of me and I'm not weak. I ended up having to cut it off, thank god I carry a sharp foldable pocket knife with me! I never do my girth up that way anymore, I always use the buckle on the girth and the wholes on the strap. If you're in a pinch you can undo a girth done up that way in a pinch. I figured I would share that with you.

@ChelseaxApachexBlaze Oh, I'm glad you didn't think I was harping on you or anything :) Something it's hard to tell over the internet lol. He ended up being fine. As soon as I cut the sinch strap off I pushed on his chest a few times to help snap him out of it. He was blinking and looking around but wasn't breathing. He started breathing again but I let him lay there for a few minutes until it was safe for him to stand. I ended up watlking him home.

@ChelseaxApachexBlaze He actually isn't my horse. He is one of my friends horses. I ride and exersice his horses for him. So, I never tie my sinch strap like that anymore. That was the scariest thing that had ever happened to me when it comes to horses lol It's super easy to do up the girth the other way and just as effective! :)

Sorry, but I should really tell you about a horror story I went through by tieing my cinch strap in that western knot style. I use to tie it like that all the time, I swore by it. I was riding in the winter (there was snow and ice) and my horse stepped onto some ice under the snow. I was going up a slight hill. My horse slipped and fell forward down onter his chest and neck/thoat. I noticed he wasn't moving and not breathing. I tried getting the cinch strap off and couldn't for the life of me!

Which kind of saddle do you prefer for trail riding a circle y flex 2 or a Tucker? I use a SRS ranch saddle on my roping horse. But me and my buddy are starting an outfitters trail ride here. In just want your opinion. You did a good job explaning how to saddle a horse for any city slickers lol. Keep up the good work. Ryan Nimmons

@guard71832 Thanks. Lol. Well ive rode in a Circle Y trail saddle and man it ride like a dream. We road 12 hours straight. And I liked the way it stayed in place on my horse. Its awesome. Highly reccomend it :) But everyone is different. But I do believe you would like the Circle Y one. Pricey lol but well worth it. And thank you so much. ik my the lady told that he doest like people messing with his ears that he doest know. you said that you only had him for a couple moths i thik, so i would just work on trying to touch his ears for a little a day, thats what i did with mine and now he could care less if i touch them.
