In my case it works, especialy in combination with L-Tyrosine. The problem is that after a while you think you can do without and than the craving comes back. Yes, and this is true aswell with any psychedelic; lsd, mushrooms, mescaline, etc... they all give you great insight about you and your surroundings. Also tends to make you feel very remorseful about things that you've done in the past that normally wouldn't make you feel bad about.
But that's what i love about them, they can really help someone clear their life up. Even with just one dose.

Also lsd is a very hard thing to measure, it's measured in tiny amounts and it's very easy for one tab to have a thousand times more lsd on it than another. So still not a good idea to mess about with it. Alot of people don't realize what depression is like it's a horrible thing!

I do know about schizophrenia. I also know that lsd can cause someone to turn schizophrenic if they have the condition encoded in they're genes it could trigger an episode. But these cases are more rare than schizophrenia that is induced for other reasons.

I agree there should be more help out there for drug users and alcoholics, but they should only be allowed help ONCE. The trouble is, these kinds of people (not all) just abuse any help they get. They always end up back on the gear/drink and then cry for help and it goes like this over and over. My brother is an alcoholic and drug user. He is 30 years old and been doing it since the age of 15. Making me parents life a misery, they help help and help him and he just goes back to it over and over.

Regarding your other statements:
1) Not all pharmaceuticals have side effects. In fact most research is directed towards finding molecules that have a very specific target.
2) Most natural alternatives are inferior in potency and/or specificity to the engineered molecule. Many pharmaceuticals are the product of computer research, and have new mechanisms of action.

Too much of any nutrient, including Vitamin C, can cause a chemical imbalance in some people.
It's not a good idea to take isolated nutrients unless the body is depleted of that specific nutrient.
