  • I like he's style..very controlled, smooth if u like, was he not one of the founder teachers of a drum/music school hear in London!?

  • love the bass drum technique, he does it the same way as me. I'm certain most play the 1st note at the top of the pedal and slide down, but he slides up into the 2nd note like me, much more effective...great drummer.

  • "Traditional with the right hand????".....yeah......and???? In the '40s, Charlie Parker's drummer, Stan Levey was a Leftie playing trad grip. I am leftie also and play trad gip.

  • excellent teaching man. great demonstrations as well. thanks.

  • Your...drumkit...is...awesome!

  • I agree with medok911: camera man is an idiot..., - Why is camera focused on a left handed/left footed drummer... on his right foot side?! Its a Bass drum video so the dominant foot should be shown..., which is the LEFT FOOT, hello...camera man!

  • he's a relative of mine, his studio is awesome! :P

  • Hail to left handed (and footed) drummers!!! )

  • @unwisedrummer Hail! Indeed, we're a rare bunch.

  • omg is really odd watching a complete left hand setup,...lol it almost makes me feel sick even thinking about playing that kit haha great drummer man :)

  • My favorite drummer!

  • he's good. great phrasing.

  • looks to be a Mapex Saturn or Mapex Orion kit. why did Pete decide to use what looks to be RIMS mounts over the Mapex mounts?

  • @zash008 I might be wrong but I think he's playing a Sonor kit, maybe the De-lite. The mount your seeing looks like Sonors T.A.R. mount (total acoustic resonant).

  • @jonneb21 It is definitely a mapex kit, either an orion of a saturn. The RIMS mounts look like they have been changed to better isolating ones for recording. Pete's kits always sound really clean and tonal.

  • You're very good drummer but your camera man just idiot.

  • look at that kit so nice

  • This guy is frieking CRAZY good!

I get taught by him every Wednesday man! He's a real pro! And inspiring!!!

  • how much did he cost? where abouts?

  • I go to the Academy of Contemporary Music ("ACM") in Guildford.

It's like a kinda Colledge/Uni, there are various courses.

It is truly an increddible place!!! I can't believe how happy I am here - you should check it out!!!

  • do people make it from there? i'm 16 and have been playing for nine years, i'm thinking maybe drum-tech.

  • hey dude..

i recently went over to BIMM

    google it!

i got accepted inot the college and the next one im checking out is drum - tech !

im 17 and gona go to 1 of them when i leave hopefull :)

  • See what I said above - but I'd deffo go for ACM...Drum Tech's facilities don't even compare.

I know someone who went to Drum-Tech to do the diploma but came to ACM to do Higher Dip. Mark Shulman's coming in next month too for a special masterclass!

It's the happiest place I've been too, everyone smiling and sharing experience - check it out at least...chenged my life

  • Oh looord don't do it! I know people who went there and apparently it's an absolute hovel! ACM has drum rooms with like 20 Roland TD20 kits, the biggest drummers in the business come and do masterclasses and they can't believe the facilities.

As for the course, I adore Higher diploma, it also focuses on business. In fact just yesterday one of my tutors (Big West End drummer) put me in contact with an agency. Honestly, the facilities are unbelievable and the tutors are massive!

  • I had Pete grading me in one of my exams last year. Can you imagien when I walked in the room and saw who I had drawn, it was just like "right.... well how the balls am I gonna play anything that will impress Pete frickin Riley even remotely.... I'm screwed!"

  • that whole kit sounds amazin, great lesson and great drummer!!!

  • man that ride is nice. is it Zildjian avedis? i like it.

  • thanks for the video!

  • a Very impressive instructor

  • nice throne c:

  • wow great vid.

what type of kit is that??

  • its a mapex orion i think

  • left footed and left handed :O ?

  • most left handers are left footed

  • this is a very good chap in every way, he just happens to be a drummer

    thank you

  • que grande maestro , como suena esa bata

  • ah he came to my music school, bless him

  • Left handed :O

  • i really hoped he'd whip out some of his twin dw stuff - he must have it for something

strongly like this guy only just discovered vid

  • I used to get lessons off this guy... His double kick skills are off the head! Singles, double, everything! Inanse. No vids on here unfortunately tho :(

  • petes class

  • yah!so sweet..

  • good vid, diggin the reverse setup.

  • that kits sounds sweet!!

  • ha ha, check it out, lepard thown

  • this is a great tutorial for sliding and using it for soloing.

  • love the sound of that set, really nice!!! also the video is very well recorded, i alredy used that technique ( i have for the last 5 years or so) but its still interesting to watch videos even if you alredy know that, it's always inspiring, loved the samba part, really nice :)

  • nice kit

  • this is great. thanks man

  • great vid... tnx for posting

  • I was taught by Pete... GREAT drummer! Thats all I learned! Sorry pete!

  • mapex heads are complete tech heads, get me?

  • yeah but being a nerdy drummer can be good. just look at chris adler.

  • "nerdy" ?

  • Thats crazy, I have a tutorial with Pete tomorrow at my college and this is exactly what I wanted to look at!

  • Nice drumming

  • Pete, great presentation! Very well recorded, excellent drum sound and clean video. It doesn't get any better.
