I stopped watching BSG when it became religious. What the fuck is up with all this Godbothering crap?
And has anyone thought about this: despite the fact the humans were at war with the Cylons, the soldiers on board the Galactica are only armed with machine guns?!! Wheres the heavy equipment?

I can understand not being religious yourself, but it's a shame when people can't enjoy a deep and entertaining program because they're afraid religion will rub off on them or something. Violence, sex, death... That's okay, it's all just entertainment. But as soon as someone mentions God it's an affront to people's principles. The show's not trying to convert you. This is the other side of the same spectrum as the fanatics who think that Harry Potter is satanic literature.

BSG was awesome. An epic series. However, the writer's strike killed season 4. The episodes thus far have been pretty much filler material. Not even worth watching. We can only hope when the season continues in 2009, that it is better.

exactly. thats plot, characters, over effects. you can have hours and hours of useless shots of things exploding, when it can all be replaced by five minutes of character development. I remember in the later seasons of the next generation, when after half a season of action driven episodes, a one minute scene with Data and his cat, spot, would be so relieving.
Rubbish. The very best sci-fi is in fact character driven: how man adapts to new and strange situations, without having comfort buffers. This is why the new BSG is rated as the best show on television by Time Magazine.
the old sci fi series like star trek: original and the next generation, and galactica and the first star war trilogy were not about effects, they were about plot. and these new versions are mostly about effect and maybe some plot as an added bonus. personally, i think the plot is more important. Galactica was not about people screaming on the floor. it was relaxed and lamely funny. thats what sci fi is about.
instead of cylons, make them al-qaeda and then watch the show. its fucking hilarious to consider it that way. the dialog and scenarios espoused are so believable. NOT! Stupid 8th grade writers.
I liked the dog fighting scenes in old Battlestar Galactica better,they used alot More after burners or thrust,it really used To look better,in the new series they focus So much to what's going on inside the ship.

Leoben lied when he told Starbuck that Adama is a cylon because only Deanna knows who the five are. Starbuck is somehow related to the one who's name cannot be spoken. It can't be anyone who died because the seven would know when they resurrected. Looking at the picture of the final 5, second from right looks like Cally.
If the final Cylon is Cally, that would be such a letdown. My money is on the black priestess who was close with Roslin during Season 2. She will be the bridge between humanity and the cylons.
here is my theory..this really never happened it was all a dream by laura who was told she had cancer in the beginning and had an epiphony..will wake up and kill baltar before this ever happens.or something like that. lol..trying to think of most shocking ending to bsg..that would be frakked up.
Has anyone ever considered that Billy could be the final cylon? It is a bit far fechted but he is quite odd in the miniseries he tells the president something like "It is only huma". And he kind of behaves like a child like he is still exploring this world. But it could be just me because im not that shore that this plot has been planned so from the begining.
Well, to meet the hype they've created, the final cylon has to be one of the leads: Admiral Adama, Pres Roslin, Starbuck, Baltar or Lee. Starbuck is a possibility because she could not have survived that blast unless she jumped somehow. They better come up with a good explanation there either way. And she was the only lead not present in Galactica during the fours' awakening to hear the music.

Roslin? Well, she did have cancer that was treated by half-cylon so that's special, but the fact that she resembles the leader propheced(?)in some historic book confuses me unless it's all part of their God's plan. :)
Baltar? Well, I'd be indifferent. Lee? I don't see much connection other than the fact that he pissed me off during the last two eps of s3. :)
I don't think it's Roslin or Adama. Roslin had cancer but cylons can't have it. Adama, on the other hand looks too human! And he had fought on the first cylon war. I don't think it's Starbuck, it's a little too obvious. It has to be someone important, that we don't expect. Possibly Lee.
But what about Tigh? He had fought in the first cylon war too. Cylons were just "toasters" back then, they didn't look human. How can he be a cylon?
Was not. Tigh was murderous. The terrorists killed many innocents. It did a good job of showing some of how terrorists MAY think, however. This is not a political show and does not take easy positions. Watch it again.

I don't have very high hopes after the tragedy that was season 3. From the terrorist loving to episodes about nothing it was a HUGE drop off from the first two seasons.
I think that the last cylon is either Baltar, Roslin or Starbuck. I mostly think its Roslin cause her, 6 and Boomer had the same vision.. can't wait till the last season.
Good point with the vision they all shared but the destiny thing and the human and cylon religions intermingling couls kinda explains that too, but I think it's her as well
Actually i think they chose the characters very well who are supposed to be 4 out of the 5 last cylons. I have no doubts in the writers of BSG reinvented to know where this is headed and to finish it awesomely :P
That is true, Colonel Tigh is "too old" to be a Cylon. He was in the army for 40 years and I think the Cylons were invented 50 years ago and the first war broke out 40 years ago (I am not a Battlestar Galactica expert). Plus, human cylons were invented by mechanical cylons after the war 40 years ago. I wonder if the 12 cylons were based on real people who were killed and replaced, or if they were just stuck into human society with fuzzy backgrounds? Boomer had a fuzzy background I know.
Perhaps some were replaced and some are people with fuzzy backgrounds. Colonel Tigh could be a Cylon if the original human was quietly killed and replaced with a sleeper Cylon before the attack that destroyed the colonies.
Evolution for Cylons should be termed "self research and development". The first Cyclons were robots built by humans. After winning independence in the first Cylon war they started to research and develop more advanced robotics and began to experiment on humans and cybernetics as seen in the Razor TV movie. This lead to the eventual development of human looking Cylons and hybrids for other tasks.

Kara is Saul's daughter (they use the Philip Glass music Metamorphasis both for references to her dad and to Saul) making her Cylon/Human. The fifth? Carolanne...making Lee Cylon/Human. They are the beginning of the "next generation" which will ultimately become the new human race. Hence she is the harbinger of death.
i only started watch the series at the start of season 3 and i got hooked! i thought the plot was really clever... and to me starbuck can't be a cylon (read info down below). I was surprised who were the final 5 (excluding the last)
My thoughts: The fifth Cylon is either Racetrack or Duella. We will find Earth and it will be 10,000 BC or the future. If they pull another Galactica 1980 ( like the year is 2008 ) I will be so upset.
i don't think starbuck is a cylon because cylons wouldn't be able to have a viper on board their ship. Therefore, starbuck made it through the eye of Jupiter

At the moment we don't know. There is a contingency plan to use the 13 episodes in the can as part of a full length feature film to finalize the story, but there are no scripts past S413 and we've all been told it's over until we hear different. Real shame as the three episodes with Romo Lampkin are Emmy winners for sure.
yes! some american t.v. shows are off the air because of it. even though BSG is filmed in vancouver and is full of canadian actors the writers are still part of the strike.

Adama is not a Cylon! That would make Lee the first Cylon/human hybrid and he's never exhibited any of the special powers that the hybrids have. And Roslin? I don't think so. Cylons don't get cancer. I went to a lecture he gave on Hispanics staying in school and being proud of their roots. I also got to meet him briefly. The man is a full-on Hispanic, but born and raised in California. He sounded a little bit like Cheech in person, to be truthful.
I don't buy Tigh, Tyrol, Anders and Tory as Cylons, it just doesn't sit right. So my money's on Roslin, Starbuck, Admiral Adama, and by extension Lee, Baltar, because it's been thrown at us so much it must be true, and Doc Cottle, because it would be funny, and I can't think of another fifth.

Actually i think they chose the characters very well who are supposed to be 4 out of the 5 last cylons. I have no doubts in the writers of BSG reinvented to know where this is headed and to finish it awesomely :P

That is true, Colonel Tigh is "too old" to be a Cylon. He was in the army for 40 years and I think the Cylons were invented 50 years ago and the first war broke out 40 years ago (I am not a Battlestar Galactica expert). Plus, human cylons were invented by mechanical cylons after the war 40 years ago. I wonder if the 12 cylons were based on real people who were killed and replaced, or if they were just stuck into human society with fuzzy backgrounds? Boomer had a fuzzy background I know.

Perhaps some were replaced and some are people with fuzzy backgrounds. Colonel Tigh could be a Cylon if the original human was quietly killed and replaced with a sleeper Cylon before the attack that destroyed the colonies.

Evolution for Cylons should be termed "self research and development". The first Cyclons were robots built by humans. After winning independence in the first Cylon war they started to research and develop more advanced robotics and began to experiment on humans and cybernetics as seen in the Razor TV movie. This lead to the eventual development of human looking Cylons and hybrids for other tasks.

Kara is Saul's daughter (they use the Philip Glass music Metamorphasis both for references to her dad and to Saul) making her Cylon/Human. The fifth? Carolanne...making Lee Cylon/Human. They are the beginning of the "next generation" which will ultimately become the new human race. Hence she is the harbinger of death.

At the moment we don't know. There is a contingency plan to use the 13 episodes in the can as part of a full length feature film to finalize the story, but there are no scripts past S413 and we've all been told it's over until we hear different. Real shame as the three episodes with Romo Lampkin are Emmy winners for sure.

I belive it's Laura. First, the Cylon related visions (Flesh and Bone). Second, she's the last person you'd expect. Third, remember Caprica-Six and Baltar saying goodbye on Caprica before the destrustion, and Six turning around.."It's about time, I was wondering when you'd get here.". That entity was never revealed. But who was nearby watching them just moments before, and Six looked right at her.. It's Laura.

Adama is not a Cylon! That would make Lee the first Cylon/human hybrid and he's never exhibited any of the special powers that the hybrids have. And Roslin? I don't think so. Cylons don't get cancer. Maybe it's someone who's already died? Admiral Cain. Billy Keikeya. Or even Crashdown or something. And I imagine Six was talking to Three.

I went to a lecture he gave on Hispanics staying in school and being proud of their roots. I also got to meet him briefly. The man is a full-on Hispanic, but born and raised in California. He sounded a little bit like Cheech in person, to be truthful.

I don't buy Tigh, Tyrol, Anders and Tory as Cylons, it just doesn't sit right. So my money's on Roslin, Starbuck, Admiral Adama, and by extension Lee, Baltar, because it's been thrown at us so much it must be true, and Doc Cottle, because it would be funny, and I can't think of another fifth.
