Lucy how do you feel about Cathie Jung and her 14" waist, to be honest I do worry about you and whether you might go smaller and smaller like Cathie, not that I wouldn't like to see you with a 14" waist, I just worry if it might do some lasting damage
@pidge010 I think Mrs Jung has fantastic self-discipline although it's not a goal I would personally ever want to achieve. I strive for a pleasant ratio between my bust, waist and hips. I may go to 20", but I'm pretty happy at my 22" maximum reduction.
@pouchilove If you're starting out and want to test out a good corset, I'd recommend Timeless Trends (and that's with all honesty, not just because I'm wearing one of their corsets in this video). They're extremely strong, pretty comfortable, they give a cinch in the waist without looking creepy, they're relatively affordable ($99) and have a lifetime guarantee.
I will go ahead and say this to anyone who doesn't believe my muscles are engaged.... A couple times I was with a trainer w/o the corset of course and he said my core was really strong, he was surprised because most of the time he had to tell people to engage their core, but with me he could tell I was engaging those muscles when most people don't do that. Why? Because my corset engages my core AND made me use muscles that aren't usually in use.
@darlingangel4ever200 That's pretty interesting! I've talked to some opera singers and many of them tell me they love to sing in corsets because it provides a wall to push against with their abdominal muscles; the extra resistance provided by the corset helps in vocal training and gives extra support to their voice. So I guess (depending on the shape/restriction of a corset) a corset can help develop core muscles in some situations, instead of making them atrophy. Thanks for your input!
@bishonenrancher thank you for replying! And you are very welcome :) it's just so many people I've noticed keep saying "you'll disfigure your self" or "those muscles aren't used".. and it annoyed me a bit, because I don't say it to sell the idea of corsets but the fact is when I started to use them my core and external obliques FELT the "burn" you get from exercising/using them like you wouldn't normally!
when you take off the corset, does your stomach look flat and nice or does it look kinda morphed? And what the point of wearing a corset to look skinny if everyone else knows that the only reason your "look" skinny is because your wearing a corset
@JmlBeauty My stomach is flat underneath. In my personal case, the corset has just made my lower ribs go inward a little more instead of going straight up & down like they were before. My figure (without the corset) looks natural, but I can see the changes and that's all that matters to me. :) One could argue the same thing about make-up; what's the point of wearing it if everyone knows you don't look like that naturally? Corsets aren't about looking skinny, they're about accentuating curves. :)
@bishonenrancher Yeah but you can alway just wash off make up but corsetry causes permanent internal deformity and also can cause infertility. Also people can feel beautiful without makeup and only use it for artistic creativity, from what i know youve been wearing your corset for about over a year, would you ever stop using it?
@JmlBeauty The majority of people use corsets for fashion. I don't wear corsets necessarily every day, but it does make me feel pretty. I prefer to wear corsets than wear makeup. If you waist train vigorously then yes it can permanently change your shape, but you don't *have* to wear them for that purpose. The rumours of corsets causing infertility are just that: rumours. Millions of women in Europe & N. America used corsets between 1600-1900 & went on to give birth to often 10 or more children.
I just bought a $60 underbust 18" corset from ebay D: I know it sounds horrible, but it surprisingly seems like its good quality, I just cant buy anything really pricey right now. I measured down the front 'busk' ,I think its called, and its 14" long. I don't know if its really supposed to go over the hip even though it does because it has a very uncurvy straight shape. Perhaps soon I can afford a more expensive one? Thanks super much!!!! :D
@skygrounds I like Timeless Trends corsets, they're usually around 11-12 inches high in the center front and they cost $99. It's the style corset I'm wearing in this video, so you can see the amount of curve in it. However their corsets only go to 20", not 18". If you want something shorter and even curvier than this, then there is the Gina corset from "What Katie Did", it's about 9.5" high but that is more than twice the price the Timeless Trends. :O
:o Thankyou so much for replying!!! I honestly didn't expect one. I subscribed!!! ^~^ I just put on my new corset for the first time and I think it may be too long for me :( It squishes my boobs, but its and underbust so I have to pull it down a bit and now its hurting my hip bones in the front . :/ I guess I have a short torso? My torso is proportional to my body, but I guess compared to other people its short... darn this.... I thought 5'2" is normal height.
I think (in North America anyway) about 5'4" is average height. I'm slightly above that. Can I ask what kind of corset you bought? I can recommend some shorter corsets that may be more appropriate for your torso length if I know what you're working with now. :)
I am looking for a corset to wear for my wedding to help look smoother. Would a costom corset work for that or should I get a steel boned? Is there one you could suggest?
@AaronsEve I always recommend a steel-boned corset as it's more comfortable. The cheaper corsets you find at "Frederick's of Hollywood" have plastic boning which will warp and poke into your skin in a few hours due to it responding to your body heat. Having one custom made for you will always be the most comfortable - and custom-fit corsets should also have steel boning. If you're looking for a (non-custom) underbust corset then I recommend Timeless Trends; for overbust corsets please PM me. :)
So does that mean my natural waist wont be reduced at all? :/ I just bought my first corset, its 18" and my natural waist is 22". So will I have to go down to 16" to get a naturally smaller waist?
@skygrounds Not necessarily; that is just the general observation made by myself and some other corseters I've talked to. However, none of them have had a starting waist of 22" so your body may respond more (or less) than that.
@bisonenrancher If I corset trained 23 hours a day, every day for about 6 months, would I potentially experience any permanent reduction? I eat healthily and exercise quite a bit. I love your videos by the way, and not to mention that you're gorgeous- your hair is to DIE for!
@estrickland89 Weight doesn't really matter that much, just the girth of your waist. Larger waists (above 34") tend to be "squishier" and can cinch down more. You're of an appropriate age to start, though. I like Timeless Trends and pretty much always recommend them to beginners. I'm wearing a TT corset in this video and it easily takes my waist down 3-4 inches while still looking somewhat natural. :)
@TripleJCosplay It depends on your rib shape, really. If you have a wide, boxy ribcage then this Timeless Trends corset can possibly train your ribs into a more gentle hourglass shape. However my ribs are pretty much the exact same shape of this corset so there's no rib compression on me here.
@BurgerKingCutie You can use the materials from your old corset and sew a new corset for yourself. That way you only need fabric and you don't even have to spend money on boning or a busk. :)
(reposting my pm to you so that everyone else can read it, as you suggested)
At the moment I'm hooked to the daily discounts on Corsets UK but most of their underbusts on sale are flat steel boned. But I have read that flat steel can be very painful and that spiral steel is better for waist training and beginners. What say you?
@AnnoyingAsianWitch I prefer to have all flats in my heavy-duty training corsets - the ones that I intend to use a lot of the time. In my "pretty" corsets that I wear for special occasions, or outside my shirt for fashion, I like to use spirals in those because it gives a different shape and doesn't need to be broken in quite as long. I don't find the flats to be painful; they are a little more uncomfortable at the start, but after breaking it in, they're pretty much equally comfortable to me.
@bishonenrancher Thank you so much! It seems I'll most likely go for the flat steel ones as the designs I've found are quite awesome anyway. hi! what if my natural waist is 23 inches and if i corset an 18 inch? will it turn into 18 inch naturally or should i corset something smaller so that i can get a larger permanent change or even just a little permanent change at all? i would like to have an 18 inch natural waist. i'm a pretty skinny person. 5'3" and 90 lbs. i just want some curves. thank you!
@didusayjenn If you corset to 18 inches, your natural waist will still be a little larger than 18 inches because the body has some natural spring to it. To have a natural 18 inch waist, you would have to corset smaller and for much longer, at least a few years. 5'3" and 90 lbs gives you a bmi of 15.9 which is dangerously underweight, it's associated with osteoporosis, weak heart and bad eyesight. Another option for curves is to keep your waist the same, and add muscle to your top and bottom.
@haleygoeswhoohoo People with scoliosis can still wear corsets but they must have a corset custom made to accommodate their asymmetry. If you think about it, wearing a back brace for years is a kind of "waist training" since you're wearing a custom-molded stiff garment tightly around your torso, not allowing your waist to move or expand. I have a friend with scoliosis (S curve) and I measured her for a corset, if you search "Measuring for an Asymmetric Body" on Youtube you'll find it. :)
Very informative, thank you. I'm plus size, I do not own any waist training corsets yet, just some off the rack pieces I wear for fun but based on my size and composition of my body I can comfortably cinch down about 7", maybe 8" if I had a smaller corset available but unfortunately my smallest one is now laced shut. I have lost 2" semi permanently from my waist due to redistribution of fat/frequent compression. There has been no weight loss involved so it is definitely different for everyone!
quick question, when corset training, if you get down to closing a corset, if you want to go smaller still do you then buy a corset a futher couple of inches lower than your corseted waist or from your natural waist?
@cazzilla Hi Cazzilla, once you are able to close your corset (say, a 24" corset) and want to continue training, then you should go down by one corset size (22" corset) no matter what your natural waist is. :)
hello!I just discovered the corset training!my waist is naturaly 26 inches and i want to try this training to get 24 inches waist.but i wanna know, how many hours i have to wear the corset, and how many days per week?also i wanna ask, after results if i stop wearing the corset,my waist will return again to 26 inches??plz answer me.ty in advance:P
mmm hello dear, I like the corset, it is from timeless trends as I know right? is it comfortably ? or is it as comfortable as custom made corset? I am planning to test a timeless trends corset but cannot decide yet. do you advice it ?you look wonderful !
@melisatvslut Hi and thank you! Yes, it's the Timeless Trends Emerald silk. For an off-the-rack corset I think it's great quality. It is quite comfortable although not as comfortable as a custom corset - it's a little tight on my hips since my weight has been fluctuating.
so your telling me that wearing a corset can help you loose inches of ur waist?without any workout?or im not really clear wat corset training means?corset training jst means wearing a corset?
@Fiir100 Corset training is pretty much the same as waist training. Yes, it means that your waist will lose inches without working out, but it will probably take a longer time to see a permanent difference compared to working out if you're starting out fairly large.
@Mayleth65 I am a history major with a concentration in the Victorian Era and I can answer this for you. It is true that the corset was worn under the dress but under the corset was usually a chemise, or light shirt. To my understanding, the shirt made it more comfortable to wear to garment as it reduced how the boning could cut into the skin, similar to how underwiring in a bra can cut into women today. I would suggest wearing like a cami underneath, corset, then shirt, personally for comfort.
@Mayleth65 Not at all. It's like a shirt that people usually wear under those trendy see-through garments and low cut things. You can get one from Old Navy for like, $5.00.
I honestly couldn't believe some of your videos when I found them because they are so specific to all the questions I had. As a girl that admires the beauty and femininity behind corseting, I appreciate you because where I live, many do not understand nor see the discipline behind it. Thanks for giving this art form life and purpose. Before, I didn't know how to go about defining my idea image of the female form, but now I know it's possible and I'm dedicated to it. Thanks for doing this. -Lola.
@khanhuyen239 I trained for about 6 months and stopped because I needed a new heavy-duty waist training corset. I've recently bought a replacement with good English coutil so will start training again once I break the corset in properly!
where did you buy your corset? sorry if you already answered this question, but i really want to buy one, but i'm not sure where to get one from. thanks!
how long did it take to get that 2 inch permanent waist reduction from 28 for you? would you attribute that reduction to weight loss or something like that at all? did you reduce your ribs? sorry to bombard you but there aren't many reliable sources for this type of info. :)
@xxwoofykinsxx It took around 6 months to notice the 2" natural reduction. I did lose about 10 lbs in the process of waist training because I was also eating smaller and healthier meals, but I did notice that the 2" were taken specifically from the sides of my waist which had never happened with dieting alone. No, I didn't reduce my ribs; 6 months is too short a time to do any real change and my ribs are particularly flexible, which is why I say I'm just lucky when it comes to corset training.
Another question: can I use a weist belt instead of a corset during some periods of the day? Sorry if I have commited English mistakes.

-Lola.

how long have u been waist training?
khanhuyen239 9 months ago
@khanhuyen239 I trained for about 6 months and stopped because I needed a new heavy-duty waist training corset. I've recently bought a replacement with good English coutil so will start training again once I break the corset in properly!

My ribcage has changed shape leading to a longer and thinner waist line, but as you say it does take a long time for this to happen.
I have my corsets made to minimally reduce my hip and ribcage and work harder on my abdomen.
I prefer not to mess around with compressing my ribcage too much...it's about the silhouette.
I really love your videos - so informative. x ((Hugs))

where did you buy your corset? sorry if you already answered this question, but i really want to buy one, but i'm not sure where to get one from. thanks!

@TrackGirl1989 This one is from Timeless Trends; all their corsets are the same shape and they're $100. This one is the Emerald silk. :)

how long did it take to get that 2 inch permanent waist reduction from 28 for you? would you attribute that reduction to weight loss or something like that at all? did you reduce your ribs? sorry to bombard you but there aren't many reliable sources for this type of info.
