  • 4.3 mother of god...got the same processor, haven't even tried OC yet because I've never done so before, first build and no cooler.. now on the cooler, been looking about, hyper 212+, xigmatek dark knight, scythe Ninja 3? I know you did this build some time ago (if you'll even see this comment now, but then anyone here can answer pls xD) Do you thing any of those can do what the Tuniq 120 does? I knocked it off my list because it didn't look like it performed like those others (regardless of $)

  • i thought u was going to show us how to install the 9800gx2 :( i need mega help i have just bought this card 2nd hand for £150 from cex. i plug it in and moniter goes to standby but i dident have any wires with my card and i heard it needs extra power? could some1 please tell me what leads i need. and also does my mother board work for it i have Foxconn G31MX Series pci-e. 4Gb ram 185watt power supply ty i really need this help.

  • 9800GX2 smashes a 4890

  • sweet overclock on that cpu mate.

  • @RKOver17 with wc anchived easily 5GHz mate

    cheers

  • @MrHydez sorry that was with E8600 wich haves

10x multiplier, this one is 9.5x wich is very handy

    with this one 4.8GHz WC

  • oh i know :). i am at 4ghz on my 920 watercooled.

  • Whats the liquid you put, I think I saw it at staples, do you need to extend all of it on the processor or just put the liquid like this?

  • tandis97 he overclocked the e8500 ... -.- it is obvious .

and the stock frequency is 3.16 ghz.

  • excuse me but the e8500 is not 4.3 ghz its 3.2 or 3.3 ghz

  • Comment removed

  • Whats the name of the Song?

  • Alice in chains - Would?

  • I have a same Cooler! is the Best!!!! =D

  • what is better hd4890 or 9800 gx2

  • you can't make that Comparison because 9800GX2 is dual Gpu built in and it's a card

released 2008 (has a poor suport in drivers)

and HD4890 is single gpu it's the latest card from ati, and offers great price / performance ratio, but that does not mean that it's faster

    than the GX2.

    i hope you understand

  • OK THANKS

  • ati has better colour..the 5000 series will be the fastest thing but i'm eager for the release of causticone graphics card.

  • 4890... i just got one

9800gx2 was good 10 months ago

  • i starting to miss G92 and 65nm cpus/ gpus

  • The Tuniq tower, it said it right on the screen during the video

  • what did you put on your processor??

  • Thermal paste went on the processor.

  • Change ur OS to Vista 64bit and will be cool :)

  • u should dual boot vista for good gaming

  • Very nice the music !ii

meu inglês é meio ruim kkkkkkkkkkkk (só no basico)

  • oh shi 1handed pc upgrade

imagine how fast itd run if he did 2...

  • cool

  • I have two of those 9800 gx2s...One of them doesn't work anymore...I got the pny version...horrible card. I should have gone with evga but was trying to save a few bucks.

I usually clean the thermal interface and then apply thermal compound when the cpu is already seated in the socket.

I need to get a hold of the gtx 290 in the future, I might put my 9800 in my older rig...which has a faulty HIS ati x1950.

I actually notice performance increase without quad sli...what a joke.

  • yeah if don't care too much about games and drivers releases go for dual gpu and the hotest in this moment is the upcoming GTX295 almost a dual GTX260 but with same SP's as a 280 (240x2) vram 896MBx2 bus 448bitsx2

awsome Card completly beats R700 in every game.

    muuuahah

  • "I usually clean the thermal interface and then apply thermal compound when the cpu is already seated in the socket."

You sound like the Harry Houdini of pc builds mate :P

  • what do you mean harry houdini, i heard that

name in some hollywood movie but i don't remember what

  • He was a stunt man, could do really aukward manouvers etc.

You know the jokes work a lot better if i don't have to explain them lol.

  • well e8400 e8500 e8600 are the same only with more mhz one and other... in fact 4.0 mhz is a nice speed i buy the Bfg gtx280 OC2 :D very nice

  • well when you bought the 280, because i think it's to late to go for 65nm GPU. but nice card i have one too.

  • no they have different multipliers

  • Very nice i have the same cpu e8500 i oc to 4.5 very nice

  • I no longer have this one, now i'm with E8600@ Q822A435 - 4.25GHz E0

    at 4.25GHz with 1.32v ~

    1.34v 25ºc ~ 27ºc idle

Rampage extreme X48 with GTX 280

    cheers

  • mmm really e8600 is not much diference so.. the e8500 is the best for me.. and i have the evga 780i FTW i put that baby to 4.5 i got the same video card dude Bfg Gtx 280 OC2 and that baby r0cks! and 4 gig 1066 dd2 corsair XD

  • yeah nice mems, i'm with Cellshock PC5000 1866MHz 4GB D9JNL

  • hi mrhydez . is ther an E0 steeping with the

    E8500 ? thanx

  • no it isn't, i have E8600 now

    cheers

  • sorry im not so pro but whats E0 hehe?

  • it's the Revision sorry, these are the new ones

they have improved circuits and they need less

power for high frequencies. That's what made possible the E8600 that's nothing less but a E8500 with multi 10x = 3.3GHz default

    cheers

  • whats better e8400 or e8500? pls

  • E850 of course, but make sure you get E0 stepping

    cheers

  • thats a big ass CPU cooler... Good rig tho....

  • nice stuff u got there!, btw name of the first song?

  • would - Alice in chains

  • Nice specs man!, btw name of the first song?

  • I thought it was two lines of thermal paste like that for quad cores and just a rice grain in the middle for dualys. I havent made one in awhile though so im probably wrong, what were the temps???

  • what kind of memory are you using?

  • then i was usind Transcend PC9600 DDR2 1200MHz

    today cellshock PC15000 DDR3 1866MHz.

    cheers mate

  • Wow I didn't notice it was in the vid. THanks for reply =)

  • somebody used there fingers to spread the thermal compound on the CPU :p, not really good idear, since its poisioness, but nice setup, i recently picked up a core 2 Duo E8500

what CPU Cooler is that, i am currently using stock cooler, only because my thermaltake v1 pins are damaged and i cant mount it properly any more :p, but stock cooler does a good job for cooling 38C idle 60C load not bad

  • I have Intel C2D e8500 (3,16 GHz), GF 9800 GT (512 MB) ,4 GB ram DDr2 and 640 GB HDD.But I think GF 9800GX2 is better than my.

  • of course it is.

  • why everything looks blue wtf???

  • because this my video was recording in smal res, is actually my worst and at the same time the most seen lol

    cheers mate

  • Its stock 3.2 or something isnt it? I didnt think it would be hard to OC to 4, im just a newb tho

  • preety easy in almost all E8*** series. even were speaking of Q6600G0 they have optimized even tdp to 95w from 135w, that's one of the many improvments in kentsfield. i had prescott, conroe, kentsfield and now wolfdale E8600 actually

  • Looks like Gskill memory, I'm getting an E8500 pretty soon, but I think I'll be getting a 4870 or 4870 x2 depending on my budget.

  • that cpu cooler is shit!

  • lol i bet you nerds are jacking off to this faggot video.

  • damn ur cpu cooler really is a fuckin tower!!

  • What I would like to know is, what kind of case do you have??

    That's a rather large heat sink/ fan.

  • Silverstone TJ07 as plenty of room for preety much everything...

    cheers

  • Cool

  • thats a tuniq tower 120 ?

  • yes it is!

  • lol, i dont even know how to open cpu and put it on,lol. :)

  • if u really want to know how to do stuff with a computer just mess with old ones. Like open them up and see how everything works.

  • Birth of a new machine...cool.

    I am going to order meself a E8500 soon...woohoo.With a maximus formula..

  • 4.7GHz ;) unstable and barely can't do it stable over 4.1GHz unfortunately

    cheers

  • E8600 @3.3GHz it's almost coming out, i would

go for this new one. multiplier 10x is actually

    the faster dual core around!

and read about Intel P45 chipset, or upcoming

    X58... cheers

  • I am going to pick me one up too! Mine I think will be clocked at 3.15Ghz or something like that. I am getting it for 190$ I am not sure if that is rip for that processor. I have been looking kinda for a long time and haven't seen anything cheaper. Tell me if I can find it cheaper

  • I'm about to build a system with an E8500... Have you overclocked yours? How high were you able to go?

  • 4.7GHz unstable, stable: only 4.1GHz and this could be consequence of many factors...

don't have time enough to figure it out... cheers

  • E8500 = fastest dual core on the market. great pick bro

  • especially with that board, bump it up past 4, its a monster..Me on the other hand, im going for the q6600..3.5-4Ghz, that flys past the qx6750, which i should mention is a $1,000 processor..

  • intel rocks i got an QX9650

  • nice system but i had boaght a quad core cpu like the Q6600

and overclocked it to 3GHz like the Yorkfields nice system!

  • hey do you think i should switch over to intel cause i got a amd 6400+ black editon @

3.2ghz x2 and i was wondering would i get a huge performance increase if i get this one which means ill have to change mobo asswell.i got an 8800GTS 512mb graphics card too

  • any Amd processors are miles away slower than intel Core2 processors, so go for it...

    cheers

  • amd has better gaming chips, but intel has better multi tasking capabilities.

  • So you would tell me then that a core 2 extreme is not as good as a AMD cpu in games? omg NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOB

  • i dont own a quad core so i cant comment on it, but i own a amd x2 and i must say that my 5000+ works just as great as any other intel dual core CPU's ive tried. i would probably go with intel for quad cores because of there realizability. amd's phenom or whatever sucks real bad.

  • well there is something called X6800 which is a core2duo extreme... Which is a Dual-core and not quad core... Which is better then any AMD CPU ... even quad

  • lol u guyz never seen a benchmarks at all

amd dosnt have better gaming chips go check out some benchmarks

if amd has better gaming chips u woudnt see gamers ,3dmarkworld record breakers getting intle and if amd has such good gaming chips it woudnt be loosing alot of cash 1/3 of the value of amd is now lost and still losing

  • Wtf* are you talking about?

  • amd beats intel when it comes to dual core gaming, intel wins when gaiming with quad cores. and intel has better multi tasking capabilities

  • prove it... just give me one better Dual AMD CPU then Intel... lol

  • those amd fan boyz are ediots why dont they go to extremetech or fudzilla and check out some benchmarks

  • well AMd 6400+ is very good overclocks amazingly well and performes same as Q6600...but i dont understand intel processors how good is the E8550 to the Q6600 (@_@) i dont unstand there way of naming there products im staying with AMD there so much easier.....

  • same i don't even overclock it

going to get a 4 core soon :)

  • If everything is working great, just stick with AMD for now. Wait until Yorkfields come out later this year and then there'll be quad 45nm chips. A full ineup offers better choices and bang for the buck.

  • something's wrong with yout CPU or Mobo settings

Suggestion: ask for technical support, and them RMA it

  • hey man just wondering why did you choose that mobo if you are running Nvidia cards?

  • i don't like nvidia chipsets...

as i said before i always choose intel chipset

for intel processor, and any nvidia card runs

preety well in any Intel chipset so i don't understand why not, when you see i don't use 2 cards!

    cheers

  • does it matter how he installs stuff aslong as it goes in lolz, sick pc btw m8 hope it owns arse :)

  • Well yea, but I mean, with a little more research on CPU coolers, wouldn't you think he could've found a smaller one that keeps it "as" cool? Maybe even cooler... =)

  • you should put the cpu first and then the thermal paste noob

  • Do you have any idea how many CPUS have i mounted? it goes preety fine either way dum asshole, dind't knew that?

  • I honestly think a CPU cooler "that" big is so unnecessary...

  • its just that the design of the tuniq tower is not as efficent so they make it bigger, like the TRUE120 is alot smaller but peforms better.

  • Should have aimed for a sweet quad core dude, especially since multi-threading is starting to become more efficient. Also get a 64bit OS and get tight 4-8gb RAM in case u want to QUAD sli that lovely beast of a GPU. =]

    Cheers

  • Nah, Quad cores still aren't ready for prime time, no game out there really "efficiently" uses 4 cores...

  • Mrhydes, if you say 9800gx2 have two 8800 gts gpu(and i Know that), imagin, that i have two 8800 gts cards in SLI mode, comparing with a single card 9800 gx2...Who have better perfomance? Two 8800gts SLI, or 9800gx2 single card?

  • 9800GX2 as more Texture fill rate, Pixel fill rate and also more bandwidth so... no doubt 1 GX2

no to speek in Power consuming and everything else that carries with that...

    cheers

  • isnt the 9800gx2 g96 core? coz i think 8800gt and 8800gts 512 are g92

  • and the 9800GX2 as the same GPU. there are two PCB's, so two GTS.

  • any reason your doing this in a buisness suit?

  • no reason at all, i belong to completely diferent area that's why the suit...

    cheers

  • first off great song choice, love alice in chains..... one of my fav songs as well. Also why not go with the Q6600 g0 and OC the hell out of it.... I have this proc. the 45 nm e8500 and also have a Q6600 and when i have overclocked both procs paired up with my 780i mobo i get much better bench marks with my q6600 paired with my 9800GX2 than the e8500....

  • that's true what you're saying but i only agree with the bench, 'cause all the rest i belive E8500 is superior to the kentsfield.

  • i agree.

Nice setup btw, hope you enjoy it.

  • i have a 45 nm E8400 processer i just hate that heat sync thats all, it's just too cluncky and boreing makes me sleepy lol it needs style kinda like mine kickass heat sync. and desides these processeres are easly overclockable and emit less heat as well as save power. so there you have it.

  • seems like you haven't done much read about this 45nm technology, check out your inbox with links to some videos explanation.

  • that cpu heat sync sucks

  • are you joking? thats an awesome heatsink...

  • High-k and Metal Gate Research

"High-k" stands for high dielectric constant, a measure of how much charge a material can hold. Different materials similarly have different abilities to hold charge.

    65nm ' 24M Transistors

    45nm ' 40M Transistors

  • Turn Maximus Formula into rampage formula with bios mod... check out how to in XS.

  • Doesnt the CPU kinda bottleneck the graphics card?

  • nope, this cpu outperforms intels extreme processors, its the gamers/overclockers dream cpu to be honest it can support such high fsb with quite a low voltage so it can be easily overclocked yet as its 45nm and has low voltages stay very cool, this cpu with 9800gx2 will get 50fps on crysis, ultra high settings 1650x1050 res [ CHECK OUT 'MAXISHINE' LATEST VIDEO TO SEE THIS :D]

  • ohh cool

  • obviously he doesn't know E8*** series...

this is the most recent top Core 2 Duo processor, written in 45nm.. extremely overclockable... GX2 might bottleneck E8500 lol

    just kiding..

  • hahaha sli don't work on this bord only crossfire wil work you need a nvidia bord to run sli

  • wrong, the SLI occurs in the graphics card, it doesnt matter if the mobo doesnt support it in this case. Would only matter if he tried to put in two seperate cards in two seperate PCI slots. His solution doesnt require that

  • he doesnt want to use sli

  • sweet!!

  • ??????? u need a nvidia mobo to get sli to work

  • Isnt the maximus formula a ati crossfire support board...

  • Intel chipset only suports crossfire...

i rather like nvidia cards then ati, but i prefer not having sli and have intel chipset for intel processor in a Asus mobo.

  • dw he is just a tard nvidia make some of the best chipsets around for intels processors if you going to build a nvidia rig go with an nvidia chpset

  • Data Corruption - not Political Corruption - with NVIDIA's Latest Boards

However, none of that compares to the data corruption problems we are seeing intermittently on the 790i and 780i platforms. We honestly thought NVIDIA had solved these problems back in 2006 on the 680i platform. Since the MCP has not changed, it is disconcerting to us that this problem seems to be rearing its ugly head again.

  • This time, the data corruption problems appear contained to memory overclocking, especially on the 790i boards. We are not talking massive overclocks here, but apparently hitting the right combination of FSB rates around 400 and memory speeds above DDR3-1600 seem to trigger our problems. Also, we have been able to reach higher DDR3 speeds with absolute stability on the 790i than on the X48 during extreme overclocking, so this problem is even more perplexing to us.

  • am hearing more and more about theese corruption issues, it seems it happens on the reference boards as well as on the asus and foxcon design as soon as the FSB or memory clocks are increased, even if its only 10Mhz. This all makes it sound like a chipset problem or a problem with the fundamental bios code that all of the board vendors are using.

  • keep saying "if you going to build a nvidia rig go with an nvidia chpset" ???

can't post links here just search at anandtech, and xtremesystems
