Labrie's voice is so nice and warm.

Without it, it'd give the band a whole new color. They wouldn't be dream theater.

Why would anyone want an ordinary singer singing in such an unordinary band?

Labrie is perfect for dream theater.

No one else would work.

I'd be able to enjoy them, but without that unique voice, I wouldn't be able to call them my favorite, it would sound too similar to loads of other bands trying to do the same thing.

In an attempt to clear some things up, in a semi-recent interview, Mike talked about more or less being the "ring-leader" of DT when it came to things like the media and handling all that, and said that he was tired of running it all, that he just wanted to be a drummer...also to help out a band in need. Hope that helps a bit.
