The owner told me that he heard a Gibson with those pups and found it to be just what he wanted. It is indeed very hard and very particular of each musician the choice of pickups.
I'm very impressed with the sound of both pickups on this guitar. I have an Epi LP Custom Silverburst and am studying the tones of Gibson's pickups. I'm torn between 57s and modern, but tending towards 57s. However, I see this guitar has a 57 and a Duncan 59. Do you think the guitar owner could give a hint as to why he mixed these two? A pair of 57s would make more sense, but I'm curious about the reason to mix them. Pickups are tricky, you won't know how they'll sound before installing them...
