Traditional clothing is very similar to Zhuang people Minang people in Indonesia, especially the female head covering, like a buffalo horn. How to be similar at all, after seeing what they wear traditional clothing. I am one of those minang tribes that exist in Indonesia. It is truly amazing.
@ckmil02 I agree with you, I think it Negeri Sembilan in Malaysia, is not it? They Minang people who came from one of West Sumatra province in Indonesia that are hundreds of years ago to move to Malaysia mingle with Malays there. But it still holds regional culture of origin.
Zhuang belong to Bai yue, belong to Nan Yue king dom (Zhao Tuo was the emperor). This ethnic is brother of Vietnam. In the past Vietnam is a Yue tribal in the South, these Yue ppl were invaded b Han during 200 BC.
You can find they have the same mythical King name Hung/ Zhuang King, living 18 periods. They have bronze drum, they are Yue.

Zhuang are animism. They play ball toss. They sing mountain folk songs. Language does not make you part of a group since the Hmong and Mien language belong to the Sino_tibetan group and sometime are part of their own group.
how am i wrong? they are one of the biggest group in china.. and in china, the hmong known as miao does live among the zhuang and many other ethnic groups... how would you know?? even though the zhuang language belong to the tai... they share more common with the chinese and miao..plus, the zhuang have no characterisitc of any southeast asian tai ethnic..
I think some Hmong are mixed with the Zhuang Ethnic Group.. because we Southeast Hmong play ball toss just like the Zhuang.. other Hmong like in Vietnam and China do not play ball toss.
That bamboo or vine woven ball they kick around like volleyball with the feet is originally a Thai game. The Hmongs adopted that game after they left China and arrived in SE Asia.
