the trick is to use a sheild

u could have fought the dragon.Want to know how? You have to put on ALL of your heavy armor and equip one of the shields you have! putting on a shield will prevent you from using magic but you wont be using much of that in this fight, actually the only time you should need magic is to heal yourself.

When it's on the ground try switching to a sword for close combat. Increase your one hand so that you can SLAY dragons. You could also upgrade your bow. And sneak attack the dragon.

i think you need to start blacksmithing and work on that until you get deadric stuff that is light armor and it will help lots

P.S dont sell your dragon bones and scales you need the to make dragon armor

Dude here some tips:

First always level up what you need like you barely upgrade your weapons or blocking(some weapons work way better in some perks)

Second when the dragon breathes fire use "Fus Ro Dah" to delay his fire allowing you to dodge

Third u have strong poisons use them to increase your weapon damage.

And u only pick up mostly weapons and armor pick up food and misc also they come in handy believe it or not or some sell for alot(if you need get 5000 gold to get house in whiterun.

what i would do to kill a dragon is use a potion of frost of fire resistance so the fire or frost they breath will not be as powerful making it easy to attack with a bow when the dragon is flying i also find that using a sword when he is on the ground works really well and having other people around you or having someone like lyida with you. and the thing everone knows is using health potions
