We were interviewed following the release and were on NZ National News that evening. I was excited and just can't wait to see the movie. Awesome. I have a copy of the ring given to the nine kings of men. It's the middle ring you see. I now have a copy of eight rings. Only four in this vid.

what do you like more, the hobbit or the lord of the rings? Why so? On a side not, I wish I could have some of the cool stuff you have, I love fancy editions of books - the value of them just seems so much greater - who cares about an ultimate edition of a movie or game, for books it's like a art, the paper the binding all that. I love reading but I wish I read more. I could never finish all 4 books (technically 2 books) in 3 weeks!

Hi,

A hard question to answer. The two stories are on different levels although they are connected. I think I prefer the Hobbit for its innocence and how Bilbo discovers his real self. The LOTR is much deeper and richer in story and is a favourite of mine but at a different level of appreciation. Does that make sense? I love the Silmarillion, but that is written entirely different again. Tolkien was a talented writer who could capture his audiences at different textual levels.

I started collecting after reading the Hobbit and then Tje Lord of the Rings. Then it was looking for more cooks and finding other collectibles as a result. I can send a long in depth essay about my collecting history if you are interested.

Thanks for the comment. Reading the books can be "Hobbit Forming. The more you read them the more you love them and you start to "see" other aspects of the story.
