The fact that the son of a bitch didn't die ruined the movie for me. To me this movie is one of those movies you watch once. And then just forget about it later on.
The Car crash and his bone sticking out of his arm is his karma. My guess is if he goes to the hospital, he gets busted. If he just walks the streets, he goes into shock and dies. The end.
So...where's the money? This whole ending confused me. Who was the guy who got shot at the motel? Was it the Llewelyn Moss guy or someone else? What happened to Moss? He wasn't shown anymore. Did the Mexican guys get the money? If Chiguhr got the money...it was in the car with him. The car got totaled and he clearly doesn't have the money. It would have been left in the car.
yea she died, i mean were talking about Chigurh here, he even gave her a chance and she disregarded it, plus skipping to him just walking out of the house not showing it makes it more powerful, showing it wouldve been that line of complete gruesomeness where people would be turned off, although a better sign of her death wouldve been better
SPOILERS.............................. he killed her. if you read the book it specifically says she lost the coin toss and he shot her. just finished that part in the book today. got like 15 or 20 more pages. great book.
Before the car incident the psycho character was eyeing up those two kids heading his route. He was thinking about killing them wasn't he?? I loved this film so much!
It's sad how the sheriff retires in despair and Moss/Carla Jean die thanks to "fate" (aka Anton) yet when it comes to HIS bad luck, it's small enough for some improv medical treatment (in both cases) to see him on his fucking evil way. A rare story - where the 'good guy' dies and the villain's just fine
You hardly see any villains/ antagonists get hurt bad, alot appear invisible, but I think seeing Chirgurh "damaged" like this is even scarier cause it proves the guys human....
Does Chigurh get hit by the car in the book too? I always liked the scene because it showed that even though Chigurh himself probably thought he was fate personified, fate led him to have the accident, which nearly killed him.
Now that damaged Chigurh got he won't be able to fix himself, and he isn't the kind to go to the doctor. Does this mean his career as a hitman is over?
In the movie it is implied he ended up with the money, but in the book I've heard he returns the money to a third part
@McLarenMercedes I don't know...he sure seemed to have plenty medical knowledge when he fixed his leg...it's more interesting to think not HOW can he fix that arm but WHERE...like before in a hotel room he made it look easy. Anyway I know this part left me thinking he is going to walk away and patch himself up even from this. Because by the end of the movie his character is becoming almost mythical for what he is.
Chigurh is hit by the car in the book as well. Ironically, he only survives because he isn't wearing a seat belt, notices the truck speeding at him and dives into the passenger side a second before the driver's side is hit. It breaks his arm badly and cuts his head. He checks to see if the artery in his arm is still intact, then crawls out and pays the boy for his shirt, which he makes a sling and a head bandage out of.
After he walks away, the kids find a pistol in the car.
It does not explain how he healed that time, but he later returns the money to a man, stating that there is a little under 2.4 million in the satchel, some of which was stolen and some of which went to cover his expenses. He tells the man that anyone in the business whose greed led to 'overconfidence' is dead, and that they will work with new, better people from now on. Then he leaves, but not before;
So, it's clear by that that Chigurh has morals, and confidence in his work but is not overconfident in his abilities. He killed his boss clearly because overconfidence and breaking the 'rules' set in their business had exacerbated the situation. I.E: Giving the mexicans a receiver, calling Carson, etc. "You pick the one right tool."
However skewed, his morals dictate him to return the money to the next in line of his employer, and make it clear that he won't tolerate more situations like this.
@McLarenMercedes He no doubt has contacts that can fix his arm. He may go to a family doctor, get repaired and choose a coin toss for the bill. I see him walking out of the doctor's office, stopping to check his boots and walking away with his freshly repaired arm in a sling.
jeez i wonder how chigurh will get out of this mess without the aid of a hospital or doctor(s). doubt its possible someone can mend a broken bone all by himself but im sure he'll find a way
I think this is a unique scene because it's like in every bad evil villain, you always try to look for some redeeming quality. In this scene? It's like hs seems to sorta like these two boys, compensates them for their help and disappears.
lol.
Or maybe it's just cause these two kids were the only ones that "Saw" Chigurh who survived except for Carson Wells from a previous experience.
NOPE. Chigurh's only positive feature is that he is the ultimate badass(heh). He doesn't care about anyone. He compensates them because he wants them to forget that they ever saw him. I do feel almost sorry for Chigurh for a moment, but then I remember what he's done before this!
i know it has nothing to do with the movie, but the kid who gives chigurh his shirt is also the guy who does the voice of jack marston in Red Dead Redemption
Sheriff Bell realizes that he is too old for the job of a sheriff. Especially in Texas with all the mafia and stuff. He realizes that it's No Country For Old Men.
He didnt say.... Look at that fucking bone.... He said with a raspinous low tone voice..... 'LOOG-AT_THAD_FUGIN_BEW'N.....! Hahahahahahahahahahhaha! Priceless!
Right, so Chirgurh killed luellens wife (checks on boots for blood) doesnt find the money (goes back to kill his wife and isnt carrying suitcase) or finds the money and kills luellens wife because he made a promise and is a cold blooded killer.
The Mexicans left the scene of Moss's death too quickly to have taken the money, which is what Bell laments to Roscoe over coffee prior to going back to the motel for another look. Anton got the money. We know this because when Bell goes back to the motel, there is a coin lying beside an opened vent. This is further evidenced when Anton pays the kid with a hundred dollar bill at the conclusion of this scene.
i like the part when llwelyn wanted to cross the border back into the us, that fat redneck didnt let him because he wasnt dressed until Llwelyn told him he served in Nam, then the redneck cop showed him respect!
I was so upset about Chigurh killing the wife of the man who found the money (I forgot her name) that I shouted "YES!!!!!" when Chigurh's car got T-boned. I was pretty drunk when I watched this part of the movie, so I was also laughing at the "Look at that f***in' bone!" line.
Dude, he fuckin killed her. I know it's hard to accept, but it happened. When he checked his boots, I was like, "well, maybe, just maybe he didn't kill her because it didn't show it." But you know he fuckin did!
So sad. She just got caught up in something that wasn't her fault at all :-(
I don't find it hard to accept. I just don't see any indications in the cinematic language that tell you that he kills her for certain or not. So for me at least, the jury is out.
@Ultra44 in the book it said he killed her but it was left up to the viewers in the movie to decide whether or not he killed her just like she told him it was his choice alone that would decide whether she lived or died.
@Ultra44 Of course he killed her because he promised Llewelyn he would. He only gave her a chance : The coin. But she didn't take it, so he killed her.
@Ultra44 yeah but thats the main point of the movie, no ones innocent, even the main characters, in real life it isnt always a happy ending, there are less happy endings in real life than bad endings in real life
"mister you got a bone stickin out of your arm". Yeah, I'm pretty sure that if I had a compound fracture I would want someone to let me know that I got a bone sticking out of my arm. How else would I know, right?
