  • thats so cool...

  • meteors are awesome!!!

  • OMG! is that real?!

  • Notice all the brake lights at 0:08, they all shat themselves

  • that was over my house...... no one believed i saw a blue green light pass over us...

  • @bark1986 thank you!! hahaha

  • Wow.. It practically gave the impression of morning, noon and dusk all in one blink

  • holy shit!

  • Did you guys notice all the people with their brakes on when the meteor passed by? XD!!!!!!

  • did you see how goku absorbed freeza's attack

  • Its those fookin' prawns

  • thats tight as fuck

  • FIRST STRIKE! THE RUSSIAN MUSLIM REBELS HAVE BECOME NUCLEAR CAPABLE!

  • Hot crackers.

  • Chuck Norris farted

  • WTF WAS THAT?!?

  • i d prolly die of a heart attack or something for that split second that you dunno wtf is going on and crap your pants...

  • 4% african

  • remember people this was problably the size of a tennis ball or maybe a football. Normal meteors you see every day are about the size of a grain of sand

  • A day in 5 second. Awesome

  • It's E.T! He has returned!

  • @azumangadaioh100

    HAHAHAHAHA Epic comment :D

  • @cccpkert well it's either him or those evil fuckers from war of the worlds...no wait...they come in lightnings...it could be the aliens from mars attacks but who knows...maybe it's just a regular boring alien with big eyes and a gun that looks like the beta version of the wii-zapper. I see those in my yard all the time.

  • if you know about south africa 's geographical history . this isn't the first time we had a meteor shower - luckily this one didn't land . btw we are rated as a first world country in the cities but seem to be classed also as a 3rd world country in our rural areas.

  • this would be very creepy to see and not realizing what it is.

  • Scores of them enter our atmoshphere daily. They seldom make it so low. It's amazing that we are not hit all the time.

  • Sometimes i saw this things. We are not third world.

  • KAMEHAMEHAAAAA

  • It's funny how strange stuff from space dosn't come down to the united states. Things are always dropping from space and landing on some third world country.

  • @kristopher101 We are not third world. We have all the minerals. USA steal from our country.

  • @kristopher101 funny you say that bcos about half of alien movies or large meteor showers made always seem to be located in the US along with any other ufo sighting. on the other hand the african continent is bigger than the north american continent so it would seem logical (if there were aliens , meteors etc) to land or occur on larger land space

  • haarp´s in africa? cause this would be an answer if it isnt a "meteor". what it can be, because i saw a thing like this in germany like 10 years ago

  • I don't think that's a meteor....

  • Lol I love all the brake lights that go on.

  • I thing that extinguished in air if not that will be the and of world

  • There is somthing hidden in Africa... somthing huge. It's energy gives it away... But it's deeply implanted into the surrounding terrain.

  • @THEDARKoo7 What exactly are you referring to? A large energy source or a large construct of some sort?

  • That was actully amazing

  • besides i'm not that interested. moreover, I made a mistake in my original post which I suppose is what your moaning about in the first place

  • wow crazy

  • lol looks like an alien space ship with a green light on it

  • waw

  • Awesome!

  • My dad was there and saw that in the sky! COOL!

  • Whjat was epic about this was that wehn it came by the whole sky turned day time. : P

  • Osup Optimus Prime.

  • it was too fast and to hot to hit earths ground... it broke apart b4 it could do so

  • stumbled from prince edward island canada

  • It definitely wasnt fake.

Quite a few people I know in Jozi saw it :) Lucky bastards.

  • why didn't they warn us about this? Something that powerful to make night time into day is amazing. Passed by so close to the earth if it would of hit not good :S

  • It probably wasn't that big at all. The normal meteors are the size of a grain of sand so I'm guessing that wasn't more than a few kgs...

  • I really doubt that this one was just a few kgs. a few kgs of burning rock would not light up an entire sky.

  • @robbieirish

Yes it would. Take a physics class before spouting such nonsense.

  • @lithiumdeuteride how about you go and stick your head into a bucket of water and wake up.

  • @robbieirish

    Done and done.

Now, how about you take a physics class before giving your thoroughly uninformed opinion on a topic which is clearly the domain of physics?

  • @lithiumdeuteride just because you watch star trek and read science fiction comics it doesn't qualify you to challenge anyone's opinion on this subject. now, once again stick your head into that bucket of water and this time keep it in there.

  • @robbieirish

Degrees in physics and mechanical engineering qualify me.

Google "normal shock wave equations", choose link 1.

A meteor hitting Earth's atmosphere has a speed of at least 11 km/s. At the stratopause (50 km up), T = 269 K, and the speed of sound is 330 m/s, giving the meteor a Mach number of about 33. Plugging T and M into the Mach-temperature relation on NASA's page, we get a shock temperature of 43000 Kelvin.

This is much hotter than the surface of the Sun, hence the light.

  • @lithiumdeuteride its just theory.

  • @robbieirish

Yes, it's just theory which is the consensus of hundreds of scientists all over the world. They have put in thousands of hours of research into the subject.

Your side, on the other hand, is just the opinion of one person who apparently knows very little about science.

  • @lithiumdeuteride who are you? Stalin? I will put forward my opinion despite your slander and it will not stop me. Science has been wrong so many times in the past and even though I value it I still like to have my own opinion regardless of your "facts". Anyway, I would ask you to read back on what i said in a previous comment before the last which was not directly posted at you. You really should relax a little more and stop being so uptight. Adios captain Kirk

  • @robbieirish

OK, no problem. You can have your opinion. I just want to make it clear to everyone else that it's wrong. Misinformation deserves to be countered with correct information.

  • @lithiumdeuteride I think that its still open to debate. correct information would mean facts and i am not sure that there are many facts about this meteor other than speculation. My original concern was that I felt that it was odd that there was little warning of its arrival. I would appreciate that they expected it to burn up in the atmosphere (which it did thank god) and save people from panic. But I wonder how many times have we been blind folded in the past from such events.

  • @robbieirish

If it was as large as a ten-story building, as you claimed, it probably would have been spotted. But in reality, it was more like a meter across. And something that small moving that fast is awfully difficult to see. We have telescopes which could see it, certainly, but the chance of having one pointed in the right direction at the right time is slim.

  • It was the size of a ten story building and came within 45000 miles of us. By the way im not witch hunting you hammoudeh, im just sharing information. Type this into youtube to see the source >

America almost hit with Meteor, no warning was given to us goyim cattle. March/04/09

  • @hammoudeh19851985 it's not a meteor! it's a meteorite!

  • I totally agree with takato, how could they not bother mention that this was approaching.

  • ARMAGEDDON! Bruce Willis! Where are you?

  • The Green color is class. And it lights up the whole sky for a second.

  • Thats amazing. And the news reports back it up! Imagine if it landed on the highway. That would be really bad.

  • Interesting sky display. It's real, the video uploader listed several news links in the description to prove that.

  • that's amazing!

  • sweeet

  • ....It's Jesus playing tennis.

  • 15-love

  • Ha-dou-ken!!!!!!

  • @Idtelos Shaaarouken!!!!!

  • @Idtelos Why have people 'liked this comment' have any of u actually bothered looking up what this idiot is saying? or is it just a joke im missing ..

  • I'm no photoshop genius, but doesn't this just look like the sun setting with some weird light angles/effects?

  • A quick google search says that this is probably real.

  • @neadst I am a resident of Johannesburg and all our highways are monitored via cameras for safety..hijackings, cash-in-transit robberies etc. This was taken from one of them - believe me, our police still has to learn what Vista is...PhotoShop a step to far for them.

  • The thing that I do not like about this video, is that just before 0:08, the video skips just a bit. Sign that it is fake. Howevere, there isnt enough proof.

  • The people must have freaked

  • ESPECIALLY after District 9 Fuckin Prawns

  • yeah you are smokin girl. checked ur pics out! now take it all off!

  • the end is comeing :)

  • I would have shat my pants waiting for the shock wave

  • Holy crap that looked like a bomb!

  • incredible

  • OH MY GOD

  • God was trying to Throw a meatball at earth for all the Starving African Kids to eat but it fuckin missed :/

  • ahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • lmao

  • that was a spaceship

  • Hi, that comet was real, it was on news, NASA only knew about it 15h before hitting earth, it missed earth by millimetres.

  • if it missed earth by millimeters then surely it would have hit someone seeing as we stand a few meters above earths surface..

  • there is nothing fake here.thinks like that hapens every day but we're lucky to have an atmosphere to protect us of being hit.

  • That was just a taster of God's wrath at homosexuals.

  • u bastard god's trying to kill people like you

  • also homophobic people like yourself.

  • lol

  • more like another caffer been burnt for Robbin a wite man lmfao

  • it's not a fake, its not like this is unbelievable they happen often

  • It looks real for me. I actually read the comments hoping i'll get any more info about is it real or so. But i guess i forgot that most of you just care about arguing between each other the most. Oh well, have fun xD

  • 0:08 nice fake ;]

  • its a 13 second video i dont think u need to put a time on it, its not as if people are gonna miss that is it.

  • I would love to see this in REAL LIFE!

  • Meteor shower due 13-14th December - Geminids this might be one of the early ones...

  • hi caitlin

  • didnt know you liked space/meteor...Alien stuff :-)

  • cool

  • sorry it was,nt a meteor it was a giant plim from my 2 hit cone

  • damn thats actually scary

  • niiice. thank god alot of asteroids/meteors just blow up when they smash into the atmosphere, that one mightve killed some people if it hit the ground :o

  • Where did it hit?

  • so fake surely ppl would hav heard about it... nope??

  • THERE COMING ......

  • Only very large meteors actually hit earth. Small ones just burn or explode before they touch the ground.

  • @TheThingyThings all meteors hit the ground :)

  • @ribenawrath not all meteors hit the ground some burn up when they reach the atmosphere of the earth maybe a few pebbles of the meteor but not the full thing

  • It is only called a meteorite when it actually hits the ground. The ones that burn up in the atmosphere are called meteors, and ones that don't enter our atmosphere are just meteoroids. I know, I got it the wrong way round to begin with. That's what you get for being cocky! ;)

  • @ribenawrath If all meteors were to hit earth, there would be a lot of 'scars' on the surface. However, theres only like 2 as i know of.

  • thing i dont get is if an astroid hit there wouldnt the debree and the explosion damage anything there or in that place or did it blow up before it hit the ground?!

  • LOLz hey honey we have electricity back!! oh nope just a meteor!! sorry!

  • Did the U.N. or AP report any massive killings or slaughtered alien carcases around the drop zone?!

  • probably get freaked out if i saw that on the spot

  • is it real

  • @HeavyVerbzz

Calling people DumbFuck So easily shows how much of a fag you're. enough said

  • i saw 1 of them like..5/6 months ago tho it was orange and it was in scotland x

    NO JOKE !

plus i saw this other one in about the same place and it was a massive light and that was the 1 that was on the news that hit australia xx

  • A.W.E.S.O.M.E.

  • I just Shit my pants :D

    Meteor + 2012 = Think about it (O.O)

  • LAME!

  • looks like Master Chief is back

  • Master chief yay lets go and play halo 3 :D

  • at the end it looks like a nuke exploding

  • Omg, I'd be scared of my life !

  • fucking cool

  • I saw one light up the sky in Michigan. 1977.

One of the most awesome sights Ive ever seen.

    Sweet video capture.

  • was caught on cctv

  • No you dont!

  • @neviatha actually YES I DO.

  • ah no, no you don't! I had a look at them and all i did was come to the conclusion is that people (like you) will believe whatever they tell them if it's in their interest. To be honest, i was little disapointed that there wasn't more effort put in... i mean because the sun is burning a bit hotter isn't the sign of an angry creator... or because certain word combinations add up to certain numbers add up to another certain number is some hidden code. Been reading too much dan brown pal.

  • So just to reiterate my point you don't don't have any tangible evidence that god exists....

And this meteor isn't proof either if that's what you are thinking. The law averages dictates that if there is enough floating debris.... millions of pieces.... at some point (a lot more regularily than you think) somethings going to hit the planet. It's not a sign, it's a purely natural occurance.

  • actually yes I do, you are a liar, and you are decieving people, the evidence is very tangible, remains of chariots at the bottom of the red sea, 99% pure sulfur at the site of sodom and ghamorrah, actually superheated rock covering the top of mt. Sianai. People lie to discredit the truth, and you are just another one of these people. I have real, physical evidence on my channel that God exists and the events in the Bible actually did happen. click my name and view my favorites.

  • That didn't hit the planet, it burned up, and blew up in mid air, like most of them do. There will be more of them in a few days, leftover bits of dust from formation of our solar system. Most of the big bits already left the solar system or hit something, like one of the planets, or a moon.

  • fucking awsome!

  • thats mad

  • fantastic, people don't realise that to look like that it doesnt have to be very big at all, i mean the way it lights the sky up is like nothing else. i'd love to see one.

  • INCREDIBLE!!!

  • if that hit earth we wouldnt' be calling each other noobs on youtube right now

  • @flashjackson14

What are you talking about? Meteors hit the earth every day.. And were still alive.

  • that would barely destroy a liveingroom sofa

  • Stop worrying folks! It's only father christmas gettin ready to do his rounds this year!

  • thats fucking sick

  • Reading your comments all I can say is - god how gullible can people get !

  • Did they find the remains after?

  • They have been watching us for some time maybe this first wave and they are not turning me into that fekin red slime for a start !

  • fake

  • Well I'm lucky enough to say that I have seen the same thing as this before during a night last winter, admittedly me and my friend utterly crapped ourself for a second - the speed which they cross the sky is phenomenal and this video doesnt give a true impression of what its like - you can acctually see it breaking up (dark blobs and flames break off it) so I'm pretty certain this did burn up in the atmosphere :p

  • i would of shat myself if i was there..

  • this was 21st nov 09 and there was one in Colorado on the 1st nov 09-coincidence?

  • When does Will Smith appear and kill the alien warship? :)

Good luck with the World Cup, South Africa!

  • Wow that was bright

  • its green because its entering the atmosphere and when it turns orange it burns up

  • Just some more info on your comment...

It's green because of the metal that the meteor was, when it gets bright it enters a more Oxidized thus it is white hot, then it cools down and turns red.

  • hey bruv tht must b an alien some kinda shit innit

  • mus b bull

  • I love how it comes down in green but explodes before impact... Cool!

  • Damn! That's tight...!

  • My gut instinct is that this is fake, however I don't really know for sure because I've never seen a meteor or, in fact, a flare... Anyone who has never seen a meteor before, don't say that it's 100% fake or real because you really don't have a fucking clue. Just like me =P

  • You need to get outside more often then at night. Apparently you don't have a girl friend to go look up at the sky in a back of a truck-bed at night. You will see small metors hit our atmosphere and flare up, but not as big as this.

    Get a life.

  • A truck bed? Anyone who finds such a filthy hovel romantic clearly has no decent quality of life... Also, I've seen meteor SHOWERS, but not a decent sized meteor like this.

  • thats bs

  • Nice firecracker

  • wow!
