  • 1:27 hello james jonna jameson

  • What is this, I don't even...

  • I reaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllyyyyyyyy wanna see this movie I just wanna know if it compares to spirited away and summer wars can someone give me a rate an a rundown on this movie???

  • ... *looks at blunt then throws it away* I got some bad shit!

  • I wanna march in that parade!

  • 妄想代理人みたい・・

  • i love this movie and every time the parade is there, even only for a few minutes,it makes me smile ;)

  • Now... ITS A SHOWTIME!!! :D best laugh i've had all week. I've been looking for a vid with that scene in it!

  • この作品の監督は死んでしまったんですよね…

  • When i first saw this i felt disturbed, now when i watch i feel...more disturbed o.o'

  • I wanna be apart of this parade xD

  • someone should make 10hrs loop of these parades.

  • O.O man these things are werid

  • I thumbed the video down just because it said, "Inception, anyone?" at the beginning. The user who uploaded this video is an idiot for doing that. "Inception" and "Paprika" are nothing alike. Quit pretending that they are.

  • @RacialStereotype

it's like the hip new thing to rag on inception once people watch paprika or something. both movies are wonderful and entirely different.

  • wat

  • It Show Time ^_____^ love the missing spice ... Paprika

  • 1:26 Yeah, I would be staring like that too

  • Comment removed

  • ... wow.

  • 素晴らしい

  • I have a love hate thing going on with this movie. I love the music and the animation is beautiful. But the rest is pure crap.

  • i thought the pregnant ladeh turned into a golden neko

  • I love this song, its so awesome =D

  • Meanwhile, in Japan:

  • 0:50 that parade dont look so bad XD

  • This moment is the best in the movie. The calm scene with the detective and then, the parade pops. Still silent and then, IT'S SHOW TIME and the music starts. Perfect.

    The effect is just perfect.

  • etto thas weid, is a censored scene? in my copy is not the same n_nU

  • why the fuck is this different than the blue ray

  • This parade is just perfectly animated. Kon Satoshi was a pure genius. RIP

  • @Kreposucre D: he's dead? DDD:

  • What's the way everyone sings called ??

  • @anastasiaevatsst Are you talking about 'vocaloid?'

  • @AbsentWithoutLeaving Not exactly, I mean from 0:38. I have heard such a way of singing before, in Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away.

  • @anastasiaevatsst Oh, sorry, I know the part in Spirited Away you mean, when they are singing about how if they flatter the rich guest, he will give them gold. (One of my favorite movies!!).

But I don't know any particular name for the type of singing.

  • It always deeply freaked me out in the beginning when the businessmen were cheerfully jumping to their deaths.

  • 映画本編と色の配色とかもブキャラとかが違うな…。

  • There's something so hauntingly horrifying about this movie. I don't know what it is.

  • 平成狸合戦かと思った

  • すごいおもしろそう

    パプリカみたくなったなあ

  • it remind me so much of Inception(movie) when I watch Paprika,

and later I found out that it is far before Inception!

  • Wait didn't the cellphone guys all have different heads and clothes?

  • 1 doesnt like paprika

  • This shouldn't remind people of Inception, Inception should remind people of Paprika -.-

  • @jackamatyus Only remotely. These two movies are hardly alike.

  • @RacialStereotype

paprika inspired the guy to write inception- and one of the girls are based off paprika. the only thing in common is the word machine and dream lol

  • @mokana713 Exactly. :P

  • @jackamatyus Yeah it did before I even saw Inception. When I saw it there was a huge difference Paprika made sense.

  • I so want to be a part of this parade!

  • @wayne388 No, you don't.

  • @wayne388 What you will turn into?

  • 0:50の所でDVDだと色黒の女子高生がいるんだけど、なんで全員色白なんだ?

  • My mind is full of fuck.

  • the virgin of pilar... xDD

  • when the people jump of the wall thst means they will die or get hurt really badly

  • I could swear that the first time i saw it on DVD, the Ebisu and Maneki Neko charms which those women e children turn into at 0:44 were golden.

  • @eMobster true, I thought so too, even in the English dub it was gold :-S

  • please don't compare it to inception. Paprika is the best of satoshi kon's work!

  • @moiaiyou19 Inception is good, but Paprika is obviously better. I think Perfect Blue is Kon's best.

  • @Jesteriandt Never said it at all.

  • Should I be worried that what they're saying makes sense to me?

  • @Vampirategirl You should be worried if it DOES. ^_^

  • I have to admit, I keep laughing at the visual image of this coming down the streets during the rainy city scene in Inception, as the cast just stares on in confusion.

  • The concept for Inception was partially inspired by Paprika.

  • Satoshi Kon passed away today and we lost one of the big ones.

    RIP Satoshi Kon

  • Omg Stereo eating fridge of doom

  • @Vlesh Hahahaha!

  • As soon as i saw the trailer for inception i thought Paprika? Although Paprika does a better(the best in mu opinion) job then inception of a portrayal of a dream world.... crazed chaotic, and never making sense.

  • @Engel13Nurse I've watched both movies and I must say both Satoshi Kon and Christopher Nolan are living geniuses. While Paprika is about a device that able to share dreams and combining dreams into reality, Inception is about injecting an idea into someone's subconscious mind through a dream.

  • @oniichandrawings i see interesting concept, premise and idea on inception's part though.

  • @Engel13Nurse The thing with Inception was that the characters needed to make the dreams like reality, so they could pull off their heists properly without the target catching on.

  • ik it so reminds me of inception

  • Inception :D

  • It's like Hayao Miyazaki for adults (unless you count Princess Mononoke).

  • god I love this movie

  • this is scary

  • 0:04 I know that tune... So frustrating not to know where it's from.

  • @MadelonVanBommel If I'm wrong then sorry, but I thought that too, and I dunno if you've played this game or not, but I think the tune you're talking to might be from Final Fantasy 10. I don't know the name of the song, but it's in one of the other songs in the game, starting from 0:15, it's the battle with Seymour song. Check it out anyway...then see if it is or not...

  • @TwilightGunz That could be it! I've played Final Fantasy. That actually makes sense :O

    Thanks ^^

  • businessmen are my favorite part of the parade

  • "It's most valuable while it's still a bud."

"That's right, so we shall preserve the memory forever!"

    Eww. Eww. EWW.

  • Hey Kiddo,

Just wanted to aks you whether your real name is Luke .

I had caller from Australia spoke today (at work) and he sounded very much like yourself.

I mean the tember(spelling?) of his voice and everything.

I almost asked him if he is a Youtube director LOL

Simply had to ask you this.

  • I have the movie =D

  • because its funny sometimes

  • (0:44) wern't those gold in the English Dubed version?

  • wow..like almost everything is colored different..in fact it's less* colorful in this version..like all the school girls and boys with cell phone heads and the older men with television screens for heads...werid..why would they ever bother to re-edit the colors?

  • it was gold... why'd they change it?

  • the english version was edited different colors and faces

  • Not only the english, I watched a japanese one with subs put on by someone on youtube, and the colours and stuff were different o.o;

  • English dub sux >_> And why did the translate sentences that has been in english already (for example " Now, it's a showtime!")? It's sounds much qorse

  • The parade scene in Paprika is a Leitmotif to altered states. It's absolutely gorgeous, beautiful, confusing, a little scary, and leaves you in awe.

  • Its truly magical really. Its so gorgeous, and beautiful, yet indeed somehow a little bit scary. It gives me chills, but truly fills me with the wish of joining the parade myself.

  • Comment removed

  • what is the parade saying?

  • There's something weird about this version. In this one, the faces of the phone girls and phone guys are all the same, but in the version I have they're each different.

  • I love this movie It's my most faved movie, Wall-E is now my second faved movie thanks to this XD

  • have you watched howls moving castle ? actually it's fav ever

  • Yeah I watched that :D

  • Everything by Hayao Miyazaki is amazing!

  • um this is satoshi kon so what you just said is kinda irelevent top the video.

  • ignore that i didnt read the other comments bye.

  • SUNNY SUNNY SUNNY SUNNY SUNNY :D

  • ...lol

  • めちゃくちゃ今敏監督の映画気に入ってます、

    共感できる人とか、

    いないっすか??

  • the parade scenes get really deep to my heart, that music and the drawings really express the feelings of someone who thinks he's like a god or the king of the world.

  • Uhhuh, uhhuh. I truly love the scenes myself... just wishin I could be in the parade myself, haha.

  • weird.

    i dont get it.

  • it is a weird movie

    but great movie

  • Today's weather is dreamy....

and will clear up after a sunny sunny sunny sunny SUNNY DAY!!!!!

  • i frickin love paprika..

  • the same here... I'm really crazy about this cartoon...

  • Dear Surathan, every painted film is CARTOON!. Even anime is a one of the ways of cartoons. So, just stay calm and don't write me anylonger if you have a bad mood. Thanks!

  • Ok, I'm an idiot. It's better then be like you are. To insult people without explanation. So better to be an idiot, really. Just come back in reality, anime-watcher, anime is not a real life. Just calm down. :D You made me laugh! hahahaha. Ok, ok. Don't want to have any connection with one like you... just don't touch me and dan't talk to me, don't want to wash me up after you. thanks. Have a nice time. Muah!

  • sure you do, otherwise you wouldn't reply, my so much intelligent friend. hahahahahaha

  • Don't feed the troll. It emboldens them.

  • I too would not call anime cartoons. I associate the word "cartoons" with Saturday morning stuff like Daffy Duck, or even Ninja Turtles. Perhaps dubbed anime shown at the same time, like Dragonball could appropriately be called a cartoon, but certainly not Paprika! It almost seems like a derogatory term when used for movies like these. P.S. Surathan sucks.

  • Why is this scene different then the one I saw in the english movie?

  • I don't know but it is different..

  • @aeriswithleo Because dubbed anime sucks. Original Japanese with subs ( preferably good fansubs) are the best. Americanization of the dialog is retarded.

  • Not always.

  • Usually however.

  • @Khono I agree, I hate dubbing; I always try to find subbed versions. But the reason the dialog in dubbed versions doesn't match the original isn't because they Americanize it. When they dub a movie they try to make the translated dialog match the movements of the characters' mouths as much as possible, so they have to try to write new dialog that will match the mouth movements while still conveying the general content of the original dialog. NOT an easy task!

  • @AbsentWithoutLeaving That actually makes a ton of sense now. Generally, I dislike dubbed because of the terrible voice acting. Now if the voice acting is adequate, then I will watch a dubbed.

  • @RacialStereotype Yeah, it's a tough choice. If you go with subbing, you miss some of the impact of the visuals because you're busy reading the dialog. If you go with dubbing, you miss a lot of the emotional content of the original voice actors (the ones the directors/editors selected to convey their content) and some of the original content. If it's a film I really want to see, I'll watch it twice, once each way. I always watch the subbed version first, but it's a judgement call.

  • @AbsentWithoutLeaving I do the same thing. Sub first, of course. :P

  • lokooooooooooooo

  • "So we shall preserve the memory forever!"

    (^o^;)

That scene is so messed up. Satoshi Kon and Susumu Hirasawa said so themselves.

  • Один из самых моих любимых моментов! Потрясающий фильм!

  • IN SOVIET RUSSIA, ANIMU WATCHES YOU!

  • lol!

    best.

    comment.

    ever.

  • Соглашусь с тобой! :)

  • Woah, the english one is a little bit different than the japanese one.

  • I thought that the english one sounded more messed up.

(which was a good thing in my opinion)

  • wonderful soundtrack and movie

  • visually stunning and confusing! lol ^o^ what an interesting movie!!

  • It's like an Eyegasm!! XD

  • the parade is so cool! so visually beautiful!

  • Huh... at first glance, the last guy to jump off looked like the older detective from Paranoia Agent.

  • love it :3

  • One of my favorite scenes :3

  • what's this song called?

  • Hirasawa Susumu - Shizuku Ippai no Kioku

  • thanks!

  • hm you dont get why people find it disturbing maybe a bunch of middle ages men lined up on top of building leaping to there death isnt disturbing to you?but all in al lthis movie KICKS ASS,and its weird style is what makes it one in a kind.

  • This movie is so magical and beautiful... Especially scenes with parade. I don't get it why people find it disturbing.

  • I just noticed when the parade family morphs that they're in color and not in gold like the trailer had it.

  • yeah. I noticed that too.

Lol, I watched this yesterday (the whole show) and man is it screwed up :D ... Yet it's als oreally good

    ps. *****

  • it's like pom poko's parade scene:

    both incredible movies

  • Hmm, something's off. The version I've seen of this is slightly different. When the cellphone-head-guys are on the street, they had different colored cellphones, and when the family morphs into the statuettes, they were golden.

  • Same thing here. But I love this movie.. thanks for puttign this up.

  • I'm not sure, but there might be a Japanese version and an American version with subtitles. I don't know.

  • Perhaps this is an earlier cut of the film?

  • The part about the high school girls and perverted businessmen is sooo true.

Pedophilia, compensation dating and all that.

  • omg.. i love the parade song. Im trying to find the name of it. any one know?

  • It's called "Parade" :]

  • Lmao.. thks.. that was simple enough ^_^

  • try Susumu Hirasawa

    the composer

  • sound is slightly off

  • Best anime next to Tekkonkinkreet ^^

    lovee it ^^

  • one of the best animes ever!!! Love the music to!!

  • wow, that movie is sooooo great I loved it

  • this is sooo wicked! :D!

  • HAhahaha!!! Happy suiciding buisnessmen!!!XD

  • D: Why would you laugh at suicide?!!!

  • Yes, yess it is a bit early production. The kogals who showed off their knickers and the TV sets that ran into the crowd had more variance in the final movie. Also: the women who morphed into fortune deities were mroe golden on the final grade.

Otherwise, those are merely cosmetic differences in a sequence that screams WTF and beats you over the head repeatedly with it.

  • the coler cheme is off or this is in early production

  • It's like the Pom Poko!

  • I love the walking Torii gate
