@athompson7 you're a typical unappreciative commie who doesnt have anything intelligent to say. Whats wrong with this man wanting to defend America's freedom of choice? The real sad part is that they're too many people like YOU and jennifer Hogan living in the United States trying to destroy this country. If you're not happy with the freedom you have here, the solution is simple..LEAVE THE COUNTRY. The last thing we need is a bunch of hippie commies like YOU and Ms. Hogan doing further damage
@athompson7 whats incredible here is that you're an old 56 yr old guy who still refers to people as "home boy". That pretty much shows the level of intelligence you have and how uneducated you are. Whats even more amazing is that you commies like to use extreme comparisons to make your argument look better. We have used incandescents most of our lives and they worked well, so why are u complaining about them now? Rand Paul is right. You as well as Ms. Hogan dont know how to mind your business
@noreaga12326 Hey homeboy, do you want leaded gasoline brought back so we have a choice? Or how about bringing back asbestos? It was a great insulator! And seatbelts in cars should be optional, of course. ; )
@athompson7 mm kinda funny how quickly u deleted your previous post as soon as i exposed your stupidity to this video. I'l make a deal with u... When u start paying for my electric bills, then maybe you can tell me what light bulbs i can use. Until then, what you greenies have to say means nothing. I'm the guy whos paying for my bills. therefore, I WILL decide how much energy i wana save or waste. Worry about YOUR energy bills and quit sticking your nose where it doesnt belong. ..Tree hugger
@noreaga12326 Actually, my original post is still there. Take a look. I still think he's a blowhard! This lightbulb controversy is a big joke. Why do you want to use century-old technology? Are you like the Unibomber in Montana who didn't want anything modern? Are you Amish?
@athompson7 You say " Why do you want to use century-old technology?" ?? Why do you care??? This is exactly the point i'm making. Dont worry about what the next person is doing and worry about YOU. You wana use cfls?.. go for it. Just because the technology is new, doesnt make it good. Thats like Ms.Hogan telling me that since i-phones are out now, im no longer allowed to use flip phones or i'l go to jail and be fined for it.
@athompson7 there is some modern technology i love using. The computers we have today, cell phones (i-phones AND flip phones) etc etc. But many of these energy efficient products are pure CRAP. Especially the light bulbs.you're basically saying that everybody should use gloomy lighting and turn their homes looking like the inside of an office or a hospital ER waiting room because its "new technology". Are u freaking kidding me? I will NEVER use cfls. Their light quality is shit.
@noreaga12326 That's not true anymore. The light isn't white (unless you want it to be). I've used a mixture of both types of bulbs in my home and when one burns out I'm not sure which type it is until I go to replace it. And you can make any room brighter than it currently is because you can use a higher "watt" cfls bulb in any lamp or fixture than you could safely use with a traditional bulb.
BTW, thanks for stopping the namecalling and just arguing rationally instead. : )
@athompson7 you're right,, this is a debate and you're entitled to your opinion just like im entitled to mine. Now what you're saying is that cfls have improved. Whether or not thats true, again i say, why not let the consumer make that choice for themselves? I dont mind that they wana come up with more choices in bulbs for people to use. But to restrict choices because of false beliefs is a whole other ball game. if cfls are great, People will buy them anyway. So let them choose for themselves
Amazing the number of people who miss the point. Which is... free people must have a CHOICE to do whatever they want with their bodies and things that they own. They can waste or abuse either one if they choose. If they aren't allowed to do so, then they really don't OWN either one, do they?
We now have at least two generations of Americans who don't really understand what FREEDOM is. Countless Americans gave their lives to protect our FREEDOMS - and it's being stolen right from under our noses.
He's all for energy conservation. Can it be achieved entirely through voluntary actions? The industiral countires of the world have to become energy efficient or we are going to get constant wars and terrorism that are all about resources. Conserving energy is a major part of that. By the way, my toilet and new lightbulbs work fine.
Yes, this isn't a stupid analogy at all. Why don't I have the choice to just pollute the water, blow smoke my car exhaust down a kid's throat, cut down all the trees? Why don't we have these choices available? I don't understand?
I have to wash my dishes before putting them into my "energy inefficient" dishwasher. I have to run my clothes dryer three times before I have dry clothes. Lo flow toilets DO NOT work. The new light bulbs take forever to reach capacity. Rand Paul is right. These Eco-nazis are destroying us. All of these appliances break down within 5 years.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Poor Rand. He totally misses the concept that by collectively changing our behavior, we might actually be able to save the environment that humanity depends on for its very existence. Rand still doesn't get that government's role is to push us toward making hard choices as a society that we'd really rather not deal with because they may cause us personal discomfort. But, then Rand doesn't really care about the future and all that, because he doesn't believe in government, right?
@zipzoo2 You say "Rand still doesn't get that government's role is to push us toward making hard choices as a society that we'd really rather not deal with because they may cause us personal discomfort."
Where'd you hear that? Cause that's not what the Constitution says government is for...
People like him would just freely choose to waste the entire planet, suck all the rivers and aquifers dry, build hundreds of coal and nuclear power plants, and fill the water and air with pollution, just so the consumer would not be slightly inconvenienced. He has plenty of money to put in better low flow toilets, he is just acting like a big baby.
@d3f3c7 Polls show that only 6% of scientists are Repubulicans, and a Republican representitive just said we don't have to worry about global warming because god promised Noah that he would not flood the Earth again. Having these idiots in charge is like putting someone who doesn't believe in gravity in the pilot's seat, they are going to crash the plane because they don't understand basic facts.
@d3f3c7 I think you missed the part where he said he is in FAVOR of better more efficient energy, but not forcefully. Yes it is smarter to save costs on energy and use less, but only when it in facts SAVE YOU instead of COSTS you.
This whole Energy/Pollution/Environmentalist Hoopla miss the fact that we have a better standard of living today then we did back then, when people were dying at a younger age, but i guess our world is so polluted we can't live and will blow up.
And, you can, if you really want to, buy a commercial toilet and install it in your home. No one will check. There are no toilet death panels. They will not come into your house. LOLOLOLOL
@99sdad thats what i'm doing lol. the house i'm building has the same toilets as walmart bathrooms! they're so powerful they'll suck a shoe down through the pipes. my main shower has 11 shower heads installed lol! i got the idea from seeing a history channel show about henry clay frick and they showed his personal shower. look at all the water that gets "wasted"and contaminated washing military tanks, humvees, etc, just to keep soldiers busy and ZILLIONS of other gallons wasted by govt washing
Consumer choice? Do you REALLY need a toilet that wastes water? The reason for low-flush toilets is conservation. Same with phasing out energy-wasting bulbs. There are simply too many people in this world today to NOT think about ways to conserve. I suspect Ms. Hogan's look of incredulity was because he's acting like a child. And I also suspect that anyone who thinks this is some sort of VAST conspiracy has too much time on their hands.
Maybe his poops are too big! Did anyone think of that???? It just seems that the grown ups are trying to have a discussion, and the little kid with the BAD toupee won't stop talking.
It's unbelievable to me that anyone could watch this and not think "MY GOD WHAT AN IDIOT!" It's embarrassing to watch! Did this man graduate high school?
I don't know what's worse, people like you who graduated high school and didn't learn anything or liberal who like to bash anything irrelevant to the argument. Look, the fact is if people are so desire to protect the environment, what's the point of banning less efficient light bulb in the first place. Would vegetarians ban meat because they know it is healthier for you?
@justcallmesoldamnyou Really? Cause he has a point? He asked a very legit question and all this liberaltard did was dance... She couldn't even directly answer the question. So I am curious... Who is the idiot?
@OpinionatedJosh why are you wasting energy by typing and trying to argue or attempting to reason with a lib-tard parasite? it's like staring through a sewer drain and attempting to argue and reason with a leech.. no matter what you say to it, it just wants to suck your blood.
@justcallmesoldamnyou I suspect that you are an idiot. He is sticking up for consumer choice and rights. She is flat out lying. Yet you call him an idiot.
@justcallmesoldamnyou not all men are created equal. not all men are born with common sense or logic. it shouldn't be called "common" sense.. because it's FAR from common in the run of the mill commoner. some people have no minds and have parasitic dna. it's time to cleanse america. fire up the ovens. banish the laws and govt bureaucracy that nourishes and enables them to feed on the DOers and men of the mind!
@justcallmesoldamnyou you lib-tards want less of a carbon footprint? then lets bury your carbon based skeletons 6 feet under the ground! TIME TO STEP ON THE PARASITES HEAD. CRUSH IT
