I absolutely love Bowden, but he deserved to lose that game for coaching scared. You have time to run another play, you're at the 25 yard line, you're in long field goal range. Why not try a passing play to get 5 or 10 yards closer, or more? There's no reason to play for a 43 yard FG at the college level. Playing not to lose got them beat here.

Some Miami fan by me spent most of the game complaining about how bad Dorsey was (Dorsey was like 27 and 1 at the time.) Miami was clearly more talented, but FSU controlled much of the game with their defense and a bruising running game behind Greg Jones.
