Do you know of an episode, especially from Series 2 of 3 when it plays. It could be "The Doctor's Theme", or "Doomsday". Both have a woman performing some background "chanting. I have both of those.

I personally grew up with the new one, so I'm speaking from a somewhat biased standpoint, but I have to say that I think both the old and new versions are equal in quality. I think that the majority of people who prefer the old one only do so because THEY grew up with it, and they felt that it was very good back then. Thus, when the series changes (as things inevitably do) they hold it to an impossible standard. They both have ups and downs.

The older doctors were more doctors... They ruined Doctor who by making the bad guy's more invincible, and making the storylines so fast paced that they thought people wouldnt figure out that most of the ends werent tied.

I think people have shorter attention spans nowadays so it's hard to get people, especially young people, to watch nuanced programming that has time to develop a story.

The classic show wore its dorkishness like a badge of honor, the new one tries too hard to be cool and just falls on its face. The theme song is of a piece, the new show replaces the magnificent spookiness of the old versions with trite, dull, militaristic bombast.

Ah yeah Christopher Eccleston... I have to say I thought the 9th Doctor and Rose went together much better than the her and Tennant. I also thought the 1st series was the best out of the new ones. There were some truly scary parts in that series, now it's more family friendly. But still brilliant obviously.
