this is the second video i watched (1st: 230, I hate whats happening! MW3 Elite, Season Ticket, ETC.) and i like your vids and i 60% agree hope that makes you happy.
everyone already know that they are doing this. Every company always does this... Nothing in todays world means anything anymore. Everything is about money in this entire world for every industry. its supply and demand... they found out that video games have become more popular and more popular and they decided to fill their wallets. They know they could raise the price for a new game from 59 bucks to 109 bucks and wed still pay it. It is bullshit but it is life man life in the 21st century
yeah, and if you want to lie down and take it, that's cool. go ahead. Personally, as long as I have a voice, I'll speak up and hopefully more gamers will listen. Whether I can change things or not. at least I'm not going to be their bitch.
@L1Games you got me a little wrong there bud i agree with you 100% and think you have perfect points. I myself dont buy dlc except in specific situations such as fallout and bioshock (the 2 best games ever) but the way i see it is even if its wrong the companies will never stop. Its all about the almighty dollar to them if anyone thinks they care about us they are 1000% wrong. Money dictates everything and there will always be the people who will support their exploiting us. not me!
Its like i've been saying this needs to be taken to court, has it not been done yet? How can they recharge somebody for making a second hand purchase? When you buy the game you buy the rights to the game, when you sell the game to ANYONE, WHETHER STORE OR FAMILY,FRIEND,STRANGER, you're selling the RIGHTS you purchased to the game. When an online player is lost from selling the game, and replaced by a new one no server space is taken up but merely replaced. How can this be legal?
@L1Games Not only that cutting online to me was, but cutting single player content is definitely recharging somebody for second hand purchase. That is my problem, that can't be legal, to recharge some one for a second hand purchase. When some one buys new, they buy the rights to the disk and all content on it. If they sell it used for what ever price they can the person buys it, hell Suikoden 2 goes for 60 dollars still. The purchaser pays for all of the previous owners rights.
@L1Games Can you please explain how the blatant digital recharging of products or in actuality rights which are already payed for, then sold over to? Can the movie industry start charging my friends a online pass to watch movies in the future because I only purchase "rights". This is BS, and I have stopped buying games completely, sorry won't hurt no one, only have Wal-Mart and Gamestop they shut down the small town game stores. One of my favorite was Phat Boy Games who had imports.
THIS THIS THIS!!!!! I liked and favorite this video just to give it all I can to help you get this word out!! I agree with you 100%. I do not own or plan to own any of the HD consoles FOR THIS REASON alone. You're doing a good work sir. Keep it up.
You tell man if I has the power, I would make you head of the video gaming industry as a whole. This is why I always review the games that I want thoroughly. I was going to get kingdoms of almaur but then I took a online pass to the knee. Only game I will ever buy with a online pass again will be mass effect 3 ONLY because I want to finish the story then I will be done with EA watch in the future movies will be this way too
The upcoming games 'SSX' and even the Offline game 'Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning' are to have Online passes, now some may say 'Oh but the pass code for Reckoning is just a free bonus for everyone who buys it new' but what they fail to realise is every person who is not connected to the net unfairly misses out on that content and why have they only recently just released this info when the games due out in about a week? Typical dick move by EA but hardly suprising.
I just cancelled my order for Resident Evil Revelations today, for a slew of reasons most of which to do with the company releasing. I do believe I'm done with new games. Skyrim was 60 usd to play a beta, Arkam city with these shenanigans. I'll spend my time collecting original Xbox games, I haven't had as much fun with video games since that console anyway.
and people wonder why i still keep my good ol playstation 2 hooked up with a stack of games, i sold my xbox 360 about a year ago. I refuse to support this bullshit
I own my a few gamestores as well and agree with u. It's actually borderline illegal. The preorder bonus and online pass thing. Look into the Robison Patman and Sherman acts.
I can see why they have an online code but blocking out parts of the story is pretty extreme. They should have done what they did in arkham asylum have batmans cape be as stiff as a board
I have been boycotting every Game that has a online code of any kind for that matter . I have been boycotting EA for 11 years now just for the fact they suck so hard every tree in the land leans towards the EA head quarters . I will also follow your advice , You are on the ball , Ive been telling people this shit for years and your DA MAN dude .
I can answer your question at 3:58. Every game now day only focuses on online multiplayer. The campaigns are really short , and without online, you'll probably sell the game in one day. And I play retro games all the time, but rarely touch the games I got a few months ago just because the video game industry is for the money and the buisnessmen, not the gamers.
As disgusting as it is, it is not going to change, because people keep buying the games, telling the companies that they're ready to bend over and take it again. There's nothing more to do than just buy indie games on PC, now.
i think it makes sense for ps3 since they all ways have online but not for xbox 360. wait that doesn't make much sense. single player should never need a code.
unfortunately I baught the steel book version of Arkham city and opened it before I realised I got fucked! I was going to lend it to my girlfriend after I completed it as well, such a disappointment.
I really hate this abuse their cyber abuse is so stupid, i really dont understand why they do this to us i work very hard to get the money and they are ready to abuse over your wallet thats sad im dying to play arkham city but this abuse is enough. I mean is not fair for us i work very hard to buy each game but they abuse
Just tweeted a link to this video I hope it spreads the word about this blatant corporate greed that devs and industry as a whole are currently try to shove down our throats
I want more classic Lufia games. I grew up on Lufia 2 and Final Fantasy IV. Back when games were actually worth playing and took more than maybe 5 hours to beat on the hardest difficulty. I missed games that actually required strategy. Current games and the shit you have to go through for them disgust me. That's why I still have my SNES and my Xbox 360 is literally a paperweight.
you are a GODLY spokesman. you get data, you relate, you never stutter, sooooo much other stuff that makes me want you to run for president! i wanted to post a vid agreeing with you, but i can't find anything else to say that you haven't. XD
actually my chemistry teacher said that if i'm not a part of the solution, i'm part of the precipitant :D but yeah, i hate newer games...i signed up for vizzed and got my own NES/SNES mix. i also have several game mixes, such as sonic mega collection and metal slug anthology!
I bought this, and now Im annoyed! The Pirated version of this for the PC is FULLY unlocked. DLC, skins, etc. From what has been seen there is around £60/$90 worht of DLC planned, mosly just skins and challenge maps. I HATE DLC!!!
it still pains me not to play this game after reading and hearing about the game receiving high ratings. But I stop and remember how they already fucked me with the arkam asylum game on the pc. now all i have to show for it is a copy of the disc which doesnt work on my computer anymore because i upgraded it. now it asking me to buy another registration fee. I hope these publishers goes under.
so if my account gets banned im fucked. FUCK YOU ALL. I WILL BUTT FUCK YOU!!!!! You should talk about saints row. its 20 dollars for their pass. So im not buying it fuck that.
I was wondering why are game developers moving to digital downloads when the movie industry like Disney are staying away from that as much as they can can any one tell me how to download the original Alice in Wonderland in 1080p hu or the music industry can you tell me how to leagaly download Tool Maynard Keenan said he would never sell his music digitaly so why video games some one will eventualy make a napster for video games if they go digital and emulaters will become the norm
Since when did gaming become so complicated? I remember when you would have everything a game would offer by just buying the game, this whole "paying extra for a part of the game" is just stupid.
I bought Arkham City new, something i don't normally do (i bought Arkham Asylum like 2 years later), my love for Batman got the best of me, i bought it new and I was happy with my purchase...
For about 3 weeks until the first "DLC" package was "Released". THREE WEEKS between the release date of the game and this DLC!!! Gee, its almost like they CUT the Nightwing content from the game release JUST so they could charge me separately now. Never again.
Namco Bandai has recently announced that the PS Vita game Ridge Racer will only come with 3 courses and 5 cars. All other content will only be released by DLC. WTF?!?
3D movies used to be a amazing thing but now it looks like a gimmick since most movies going to 3D to earn even more money. Look at Titanic 3D which is showing in April 2012 for example. Would you watch a more than 10 years old film?
@SoulBrothaNumbuh2 I'm inclined to agree. the popularization of video games combined with internet service/connectivity was a recipe for disaster and it's playing out like a worst case scenario.
It's really the same thing for other media industries like film. After big 70's hits people started going back to theaters again which lead the 80's to be the age of sequels just for cash.
Look at the background, theres a bunch of cartridge based consoles, thats all gamers need. Long lasting, fun reliable video games. My Genesis and 2600 will outlive every single Ps3 and 360 that there is out there.
hate to say it but i think the answer to all this Draconic DLC BS is to,boycott just dont buy it,starting with companys like WB and EA,these days all i play for the most part is nes-ps2 games my ps3 collects dust, beyond that is almost pointless you spend 60$ to get a unfinished game?!..Fuck that!, if we had more stores like L1games store and his mindset,i strongly believe the gaming market would be truly booming, and we would not be getting shafted for spending are hard earned cash
This is not new man.. C'mon. DLC was a WONDERFUL idea when it WAS supposed to be for making the game life extend with EXTRA levels and characters. I USED to support LIMITED EDITIONS, Soul Calibur IV is the BEST limited edition I've purchased. Why? People who play against my custom characters KNOW from the shoes my character is wearing. Fable II Limited Edition was junk. I'm an old school gamer and the current game 'world' is so disgusting. I'm getting to old for this.
I'm done with Gamestop, a small business opened up shop in my town. So instead of buying at Walmart, superstore, BestBuy, Futureshop now I can support a local business, something that my neighbor runs (figuratively not literally)
@therealsporadicaarmy oh also I hate how Eb games will charge the same price for something that doesn't have a manual or even doesn't have an original case! I tried to negotiate by saying "look if all i'm buying is the CD at least charge me less than a complete game. they said no, and the local store said that's bogus and they would reduce a rate for an incomplete game. all in all fuck gamestop
Personally I feel day one DLC to be extremely criminal, its them leaving out content in the game that they had originally planned on including in the first place.
@DwarfificationOfPain You don't have the option to sell your games on Steam, and if you lose your account you lose all of your games. I almost lost 235 Steam games when I responded to some community insults with more insults and was report-spammed. You don't lose hundreds of retail games JUST LIKE THAT, and it totally happens on PC. This is why I've purchased a Playstation Vita and am not buying any more Steam games in the foreseeable future.
My friend who doesn't have the net connected bought Batman AC looking forward to a great single player game without knowing he needed the net to get catwoman. How can anyone make an arguement how this is fair? Where he lives out in the country their is no internet so why should he miss out on part of the game when he bought it new? It's bullshit, all offline people get ripped off with this game. Fuck Batman Arkham City & everyone dumb enough to support this deceptive shit.
Hackers have attacked "Steam" gaining their clients passwords and credit card details, when you choose to put your personal info online this is the risk you take. This is a perfect example (one of many) why physical media will ALWAYS be superior to digital media, I bet those people wish they bought their games at a store instead of having to worry about someone draining their bank account right now. When will gamers learn to stop supporting things that needlessly puts them at risk?
@OldSchoolgamerNZ At least with Steam you get a good bargain with their sales, so the service actually serves a purpose. All of the other moves towards digital distribution have only hurt the product and the consumer with no upside.
@QueenOliver True they have some amazing deals(+free games)and provide a very efficient service and I understand the reasons why people do use Steam, but personally I don't support any digital gaming in any form. Because I prefer having a physical game in my hand that if I choose to I can sell, give out to friends/family or just incase the website selling it gets hacked or my p.c./console craps out at least that way I've still got what I paid for.Nothing against Steam just my personal preference
@OldSchoolgamerNZ I understand that. I also prefer physical media and feel that digitally distributed products are inherently inferior. But with Steam they at least have the prices to match what they offer. Meanwhile PSN charges the same price for inFamous 2 for both digital distribution and retail. You can at least make the argument that Steam has improved gaming in some ways, which is more than what you can say about most other digital distribution platforms.
I watched a vid by alphaomegasin earlier today ranting about capcom relasing cheat coad dlc. Forcing players to pay for cheat codes, it's, nuts man. Might need a spell check on realsng there?. Anyways, day 1 dlc is nuts for stuff already on the disc. Then the online pass for multiplayer, and now with single player content. This is really starting to get out of hand and needs to change. Not everyone has internet, or the cash to buy new. Sad it is how it's going to continue. Gamers stand up!
HAAHAHA Why did I Fing buy this Call of Duty? Its like counter strke on the standard game with everyone running around getting one shotted from nothing and on hardcore everyone camps/noobtubes at the same time. Thank GOD I didn't buy Elite cause i'm about to flip shit and throw this game into a fire and not even trade it back in.
I tryied to talk about on a Forum and someone told me
"The only reason they keep doing this is BECAUSE PEOPLE WILL BUY IT REGARDLESS OF BUTTHURT FROM ONE SIDE. You can complain all you want, but these companies will still continue to do these things because of Walmartians.
I dare you to sell every game you’ve ever gotten and throw away any movies, music or piece of memorabilia you’ve ever collected, and live off only what’s free. Then talk to me."
People called out Left for Dead to be boycotted for basically being a better version of Left for Dead 1, and yet people bought it. I mean this is not life destroying, I'm just gonna buy another game which I agree with, that does not include the same problems, I disagree with the monopoly tactics.
@tHecOmMeNtErSrEtUrN Just because one business move wasn't enough to incense the gaming community to boycott, it doesn't mean nothing will. And the lethargy of the general populace is no reason to simply bend over and take whatever publishers feel like throwing at us. The attitude of "Meh, can't do nothin' about it" is a self-fulfilling prophecy.
So if license agreements and prices of their products and how they treat the end-users do the opposite of entertainment to cancel out the entertainment they have to offer, does that mean we have an entertainment industry which fails to entertain? It's like paying for nothing.
So wrong taking single player content ouf of a game. MultiPlayer paying a lil to play online, is a little understandable. A couple bucks to help keep the servers and such going. But single player content, that is crossing a line. Especially right now with the economy being as down as it is. Was considering this game for the single player in the future, but not anymore. Hope we can make a change and show the devolopers that screwing over the 2nd hand market is total crap.
that is why i wont purchase battlefield 3 because you need to pay to play it online. sure you can play it free if you purchase the game for 60 bucks. But if your like me who likes to test a game before I buy it Renting it for 2 bucks a night suddenly turns into renting it for 12 bucks, and worst of all if it turns out I dont like the game then the 10 bucks is completely wasted. I 100 percent support this idea. PAY TO PLAY FUCK THAT AND FUCK THEM FOR MAKING IT.
I was just in my local Gamestop and have discovered that they are finally dropping prices for games with online passes. Batman: AC is now $45 used, which now makes it that much easier to stop supporting online passes. Since the Catwoman content isn't worth the $10 anyway, I recommend everyone who wants to play Batman take advantage of this offer to show Warner Bros how much we appreciate them waiting until the 11th hour to divulge the details of their distribution methods for the game.
I just checked the website. it says they're selling Arkham city for $54.99. I was curious so I called and asked. they said the same thing.
But for the most part, yes, they sell games with online pass cheaper than games without. on average 47.99. I've been keeping an eye on this for a while:)
@L1Games Huh. I'm in Canada and only have EB Games in the area, but I figured it would be the same elsewhere. My bad. But yeah, Resistance 3, Arkham City, Rage and every other game with an online pass that is still $60 new is being sold for $45 used in my area. But at least someone other than the consumer is eating some of the loss for a change.
@L1Games It now occurs to me that Gamestop in the States wouldn't charge less for Arkham City since they include the codes with used copies. We don't have that up in Canada.
@L1Games - I pretty much agree with everything you said in this video. I think it's getting this way across all industry, with the model nowadays being if money COULD be made it SHOULD be made, regardless of peoples' feelings.. Imagine what it would be like if Ford locked out half the cylinders in the engine of second hand cars until you purchased an unlock code from them because "we need that money to go back into our industry, and you're technically stealing from us".. Scary (greedy) stuff..
That's a good question. If there is only one console that takes physical media, I will choose and support it over consoles that are 100% digitally Distributed. it will get 100% of my business.
when all consoles go to a 100% digitally distributed business model, If I decided that I wanted to continue Gaming my only choice would be to join in and play on them. but that's a bridge I'll have to cross when I get to it. I honestly could see myself quit gaming over it.
i boycotted this game along with few friends of mine. sadly, the future of gaming is leaning towards digital copy. there are reports that nextgen console are download only and no physical storage device. hell, the handheld is already test marketting it. i cant imagine what companies will do to us loyal customers when it all goes digital downloads. we have to take a stand now! dont give in to this.
@tkoizumi once game only go digital i will quit gaming all together and for now skipping out on games with online pass , that is one reason why resistance 3 probably did bad in sales
If publishers do put a 1 time use code for ALL content then the solution is obvious. Pirate it or dont play it at all. As much as I love games it can go so far before I start to do something better with my free time. I've been gaming all my life but if it ever comes to that I'm pirating everything or walking away for good. Not worth it.
This game was on pre order full price. As soon as I found out about this i canceled and it rented it day 1 on lovefilm. Completed the game 3 days later. Thanks saved me £38 Warner Brothers :)
Hey Muzz, I just created a PSN account for my girlfriend to confirm with my own eyes whether she would be able to play multi-player for games with online passes. She can't, so I have no idea what SamuelTehGTA is talking about when he says you've lied about your previous commentaries on online passes. Of course it was always pretty clear he was a slanderous prick. And you can hardly be blamed for not knowing that it wouldn't work the same way for Batman when the game wasn't even out yet.
@QueenOliver lol SamuelTehGTA? Don't even bother with that trolling/hating douchebag, hes full of more shit than a sewage pond. Have you seen his uploads? In most of them he just talks shit about everyone and everything, hes not worth wasting any time on. That pussy even deleted my comment as it got too many thumbs up lol, that fat raging nerd has no life and no balls.
@OldSchoolgamerNZ You'll get no argument from me on that, but I still wouldn't have thought that he would make such an accusation without reason. I honestly have no fucking clue what he means when he says Muzz is lying elsewhere about multiplayer passes
And yeah, the guy is a sad sack of shit. He made two responses to me, going as far to call me a commie in one, that were both easily shot down, and then ran off with his tail between his legs. It's hilarious when people point out that he has only
@OldSchoolgamerNZ found one tiny fault in Muzz's video and is using it to fallaciously dismiss the rest of his arguments. "You lie! You lie! Doesn't matter if you corrected yourself in annotations! You lie all the time! Warner Bros can make whatever business decisions they want, but if you don't carry the game you are Satan!"
There are actually people supporting this. I really am in disbelief. When you buy a game you should own it. The company makes money off that sale. Selling it used doesn't mean the company is losing money since they already made money off the game. It's just greed and people keep buying into it. I've seen tons of people go that's wrong, but I'm still getting Arkham City new. People have got to take a stand. This is only going to get worse.
Nice video and great points. I'm a PC gamer, and in the near future I think you console gamers are gonna be getting a dose of the shit that we've been given from time to time. I'm talking about stuff like "limited installs" and UBIsofts "always on" internet connection. Also, there's the horror of an "Onlive" type system which literally makes the gaming industry more like broadcast television.
I agree that there shouldn't be locked content for games when it comes the single player. But for the online multiplayer I'm okay with that. Heres why. If your going to play multiplayer then you already have internet access, and there for could use the code. When it comes down to it people devs need to make money. They only make money for games that are bought new. So really every time someone buys a used copy of a game the devs aren't making any money of that copy. So Online passes are needed.
I agree that Devs need to make money. That said, What percentage of new game sales are contributed to with the trade in of older games? Many (including myself) will argue that the used game market does a great deal to stimulate new game sales.
Have you noticed that No other industry in the world punishes their clientele for trying to find value in their old items? What other industry asks for money on second hand sales of their merchandise?
@L1Games My friend said: "How about digital DJ license??? DJ need to pay additional charges for playing musics he already bought." What's your response?
I don't think that law applies in the U.S. but I think it's Bullshit no matter where it applies. If the DJ has already purchased the music, they shouldn't have to pay to play it. More greed! especially considering that the music playing at a club encourages sales of well liked songs and more $ in the artists pocket! LOL
@L1Games You should update: "Only applies on Online Pass, Multiple players can access DLC and Offline Pass(Rage, Batman AC) content on the system it was downloaded on."
@L1Games I mean only applies on Online Pass which is tied by the purchased account. DLC and Offline Pass(Rage, Batman AC) content can still access by Multiple accounts. Sorry for the confusion.
@EvilFefe At least they announced it more than 5 days before release. ME3 is a particularly pain in the ass case. Up until now I've bought the series on PC, but if I have to sign up with the Origin system that the knuckleheads at EA cooked up, I'm going to have to pass. So do I buy it on consoles? Well then I can't import my character unless I buy and beat the games all over again. And who knows what other fun hoops I'll have to jump through thanks to the online pass? Modern gaming is a mess.
Great video. One small criticism which I'm sure you can handle, I'd suggest that the cohort of individuals who happen to own a PS3/360 are more likely to have internet access than 'the world population', I know you dropped it to 5%, but that's 1/20 people. I would be interested to know the value.
Everything you said was spot-on though. And you're also right about the change needing to be consumer driven. I will buy arkham city second hand, and I won't buy an online pass.
I wish there were solid numbers on all that. we can only estimate. But we do know that 18.5 million 360 owners do not have XBL. thats 32.74% of the 360 installed base (as of the day I posted the video)
That said, I couldnt find solid PSN numbers. I didn't want to spread misinformation so I made a low estimate and thought it was very reasonable:)
We also have to consider regions that sell 360/PS3 but do not offer the PSN/XBL services.
Thanks for being brave enough to stand up and say this with this video and the next video. I'm so tired of this fad of publishers charging people MORE for unfinished games.
Hey is there a way i can send a message to these.. um.. great gaming compagnies with brilliant money making ideas lol
Like email, post or hell anything? I agree with you and i share your conviction in this matter, i make sure my friends hear this before beying a game. But id love to give them my own imput rather then having a quiet revolution lol
I have to complain a bit here. It seems like your argument can collapse in upon itself. First off you don't need Catwoman to get the full story. It adds literally nothing to the story except changes one more bit. Ok so now the value of the game upon trade in is no less than it would have been otherwise. Not only that but what if all those people that don't have the internet want a used copy? They get it for every cheaper because of the code. Also when will you shut up about Gamestop? They got
@majinvegetta Catwoman DLC for free but why aren't you complaining about Bestbuy getting Robin DLC for free? I'm not saying that companies and such aren't greedy but you should just stop complaining cause they aren't listening. Stuff like this has been going on since Nes days. And then you call yourself a business man by not selling the game to your customer? And that's not just a big middle finger to them? "Oh I'm sorry they made me mad so now you don't get the game"
I'm not complaining about robin because catwoman was advertized as part of the story for the last year. Gamers who saw advertizements for this game were led to believe that they would have access to this character from day 1. those who paid for it should get that content.
It would be no different if I were out of stock. Sometimes I don't have every game anyway. it hurts no one but the developer if I decide not to sell it.
People paid for this content and 100% of them should have access to it. that is not the case. Every gamer deserves nothing less than 100% of the game they pay for and every bit of content they pay for is crucial.
@PsychoticNinja1 You can't buy titles over Steam used, and you can't trade them either, so the question is redundant. The only thing to consider is whether you want to support the business practices the publisher used with this product. And I can't speak for the man, but I'm guessing Muzz doesn't like Steam for being a digital distribution center. I don't fully agree with him on that, but oh well.
@L1Games and anyone else who can help clear this up: So far I have not bought Arkham City because of this, even though it pains me especially seeing others buying it left and right, even though I warned them about the lies of the so called "DLC" of Catwoman. Anywho, I was at Target earlier, and I saw Arkham City for the PS3 for $60, then I saw it on Steam for $50 (or $40 if you have Arkham Asylum, which I do, or LEGO Batman), CONTINUE ON ANOTHER POST
Hey I got to say if they had not given a free pass to Game stop I would not be half as mad. They make 25 dollars a copy reselling a used copy for five dollar less than the new. I also hear you I have been robed more than once had my console stolen and DLC and onlinepass I have paid for has been denied to me. I am wronged and the I have to pay more for a game I already own. I hear you and agree.
I completely agree with you. I've made a promise to myself that if I can't have the whole game with me the instant I hand over that cash, then that game is not worth buying. I shall NEVER buy a game that is not complete as-is.
I just had another thought in regards to your comments on the future of gaming. More specifically, registration codes to make a game work. I agree this is the direction the gaming industry is taking, and it's scary to think there will still be gamers who will blindly and happily pay, as developers 'deserve' and 'need' the money. It costs 'a lot' to maintain the servers and the like. It hardly sounds like the game industry is struggling. I miss the good old days of gaming. (Gamer since 1990-NES)
I am continuously amused by how game publishers regard any avenue for gamers to recoup costs from a shitty game or avoid them altogether as some horrible cancer. "Not satisfied with your $60 copy of Thor: God of Thunder? Too fucking bad! You're stuck with it! We would stitch it to your skin if we could!"
Can you imagine what would happen if book publishers cracked down on second hand sales, book sharing and libraries? People would stop reading, and everyone would lose out.
To those saying "Used sales hurt the industry!" TOUGH FUCKING SHIT! Second hand sales are a reality of every industry out their, from books to cars to fucking pets. It's important for consumers to have an avenue to recoup some money when they are done with a product, and that's just one of many things publishers are trying to strip from us. The more power publishers have over how we can enjoy our content, the more they will abuse that power. Let's not be a bunch of proverbial boiling frogs.
this is the second video i watched (1st: 230, I hate whats happening! MW3 Elite, Season Ticket, ETC.) and i like your vids and i 60% agree hope that makes you happy.

UchihaGamer111 3 days ago
@L1Games Not only that cutting online to me was, but cutting single player content is definitely recharging somebody for second hand purchase. That is my problem, that can't be legal, to recharge some one for a second hand purchase. When some one buys new, they buy the rights to the disk and all content on it. If they sell it used for what ever price they can the person buys it, hell Suikoden 2 goes for 60 dollars still. The purchaser pays for all of the previous owners rights.
UchihaGamer111 3 days ago
@L1Games Can you please explain how the blatant digital recharging of products or in actuality rights which are already payed for, then sold over to? Can the movie industry start charging my friends a online pass to watch movies in the future because I only purchase "rights". This is BS, and I have stopped buying games completely, sorry won't hurt no one, only have Wal-Mart and Gamestop they shut down the small town game stores. One of my favorite was Phat Boy Games who had imports.

You tell man if I has the power, I would make you head of the video gaming industry as a whole. This is why I always review the games that I want thoroughly. I was going to get kingdoms of almaur but then I took a online pass to the knee. Only game I will ever buy with a online pass again will be mass effect 3 ONLY because I want to finish the story then I will be done with EA watch in the future movies will be this way too
tanork1 3 weeks ago

You can build your own gaming PC for around 900.
Building a PC is worth it in the long run. With a PC I can update it at my leisure and not worry about getting sued by a monster corporation.
Oh sure, I can get a new harddrive for my PS3 and x360, but that's about all I can do.
DwarfificationOfPain 3 months ago
@popguck
With PC gaming, I can upgrade my system at my leisure. Whenever I want.
Also, you don't need to pay 1,000$ or 2,000$ for a PC. You can build a good rig for either 800 or 900 bucks.
It's honestly a better investment than console gaming in the long run.

@DwarfificationOfPain You don't have the option to sell your games on Steam, and if you lose your account you lose all of your games. 318mrwhite 3 months ago
OldSchoolgamerNZ 3 months ago
@OldSchoolgamerNZ At least with Steam you get a good bargain with their sales, so the service actually serves a purpose. All of the other moves towards digital distribution have only hurt the product and the consumer with no upside.
QueenOliver 3 months ago
@QueenOliver True they have some amazing deals(+free games)and provide a very efficient service and I understand the reasons why people do use Steam, but personally I don't support any digital gaming in any form. Because I prefer having a physical game in my hand that if I choose to I can sell, give out to friends/family or just incase the website selling it gets hacked or my p.c./console craps out at least that way I've still got what I paid for.Nothing against Steam just my personal preference
OldSchoolgamerNZ 3 months ago
@OldSchoolgamerNZ I understand that. I also prefer physical media and feel that digitally distributed products are inherently inferior. But with Steam they at least have the prices to match what they offer. Meanwhile PSN charges the same price for inFamous 2 for both digital distribution and retail. You can at least make the argument that Steam has improved gaming in some ways, which is more than what you can say about most other digital distribution platforms.
QueenOliver 3 months ago
@QueenOliver Right on man, couldn't agree more. Steam certainly is the pick of the bunch for digital gaming.

tHecOmMeNtErSrEtUrN 3 months ago
@tHecOmMeNtErSrEtUrN Just because one business move wasn't enough to incense the gaming community to boycott, it doesn't mean nothing will. And the lethargy of the general populace is no reason to simply bend over and take whatever publishers feel like throwing at us. The attitude of "Meh, can't do nothin' about it" is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

@tHecOmMeNtErSrEtUrN Because a) There's no guarantee that there will be a GOTY edition.

TheBarfBall 3 months ago
that is why i wont purchase battlefield 3 because you need to pay to play it online. sure you can play it free if you purchase the game for 60 bucks. But if your like me who likes to test a game before I buy it Renting it for 2 bucks a night suddenly turns into renting it for 12 bucks, and worst of all if it turns out I dont like the game then the 10 bucks is completely wasted.

@OldSchoolgamerNZ found one tiny fault in Muzz's video and is using it to fallaciously dismiss the rest of his arguments. "You lie! You lie! Doesn't matter if you corrected yourself in annotations! QueenOliver 3 months ago

Also, there's the horror of an "Onlive" type system which literally makes the gaming industry more like broadcast television.
wootlanter 3 months ago
I agree that there shouldn't be locked content for games when it comes the single player. But for the online multiplayer I'm okay with that. Heres why. If your going to play multiplayer then you already have internet access, and there for could use the code. When it comes down to it people devs need to make money. They only make money for games that are bought new. So really every time someone buys a used copy of a game the devs aren't making any money of that copy. So Online passes are needed.

@joeshadowman
Just something to consider:)

@L1Games My friend said: "How about digital DJ license??? DJ need to pay additional charges for playing musics he already bought." What's your response?
gwsstar 3 months ago
@gwsstar
I don't think that law applies in the U.S. but I think it's Bullshit no matter where it applies. If the DJ has already purchased the music, they shouldn't have to pay to play it. More greed! especially considering that the music playing at a club encourages sales of well liked songs and more $ in the artists pocket! LOL

@L1Games You should update: "Only applies on Online Pass, Multiple players can access DLC and Offline Pass(Rage, Batman AC) content on the system it was downloaded on."
gwsstar 3 months ago
@gwsstar
I added annotations a while back that cover that:)

@L1Games I mean only applies on Online Pass which is tied by the purchased account. DLC and Offline Pass(Rage, Batman AC) content can still access by Multiple accounts. Sorry for the confusion.

I would have loved to get Mass Effect 3, But like Arkham City it too will utilize Online Pass
EvilFefe 3 months ago
@EvilFefe At least they announced it more than 5 days before release. ME3 is a particularly pain in the ass case. Up until now I've bought the series on PC, but if I have to sign up with the Origin system that the knuckleheads at EA cooked up, I'm going to have to pass. So do I buy it on consoles? Well then I can't import my character unless I buy and beat the games all over again. And who knows what other fun hoops I'll have to jump through thanks to the online pass? Modern gaming is a mess.
QueenOliver 3 months ago
Great video. One small criticism which I'm sure you can handle, I'd suggest that the cohort of individuals who happen to own a PS3/360 are more likely to have internet access than 'the world population', I know you dropped it to 5%, but that's 1/20 people. I would be interested to know the value.
Everything you said was spot-on though. And you're also right about the change needing to be consumer driven. I will buy arkham city second hand, and I won't buy an online pass.
intolerance100 3 months ago
@intolerance100
Tough numbers. LOL
Thanks for the support:)

They got
majinvegetta 3 months ago
@majinvegetta Catwoman DLC for free but why aren't you complaining about Bestbuy getting Robin DLC for free? I'm not saying that companies and such aren't greedy but you should just stop complaining cause they aren't listening. Stuff like this has been going on since Nes days. And then you call yourself a business man by not selling the game to your customer? And that's not just a big middle finger to them? "Oh I'm sorry they made me mad so now you don't get the game"
majinvegetta 3 months ago
Respond to this video...
L1Games 3 months ago
@majinvegetta
People paid for this content and 100% of them should have access to it. that is not the case. Every gamer deserves nothing less than 100% of the game they pay for and every bit of content they pay for is crucial.

If one was to get it on Steam would they still have to pay the extra $10? If so, would you say it's worth getting on Steam?
PsychoticNinja1 3 months ago
@PsychoticNinja1 You can't buy titles over Steam used, and you can't trade them either, so the question is redundant. The only thing to consider is whether you want to support the business practices the publisher used with this product. And I can't speak for the man, but I'm guessing Muzz doesn't like Steam for being a digital distribution center. I don't fully agree with him on that, but oh well.
QueenOliver 3 months ago

I shall NEVER buy a game that is not complete as-is.
link5261 4 months ago

QueenOliver 4 months ago 3
To those saying "Used sales hurt the industry!" TOUGH FUCKING SHIT! Second hand sales are a reality of every industry out their, from books to cars to fucking pets. It's important for consumers to have an avenue to recoup some money when they are done with a product, and that's just one of many things publishers are trying to strip from us. The more power publishers have over how we can enjoy our content, the more they will abuse that power. Let's not be a bunch of proverbial boiling frogs.
