The reason I love The Fray is how their lyrics can mean different things to different people, there's no right or wrong. So many people can relate to the song, but for different reasons. I love that, their texts are always very thorough and deep.

The piano really captures the feeling. A floating then sinking sensation. It starts kinda light hearted then the scales leave marks on your heart. Es. the piano solo.

@MrGinnipe completely. i watch the person dearest to me hurt herself everyday, saying that it only makes her stronger, but i fear the day when her bottle of pain shatters or overflows. i try to stop her, i want to help her, but she just won't let me in. she "opens up for nobody." the first time i heard this song i cried at all the horrible memories that came rushing back, and felt like i was going to implode from all the feelings of helplessness.

@MrGinnipe i agree that there isn't much we can do. but we can be there for them and hope that they hear us and snap out of it, before it breaks us both. be there for her and whenever she says she wants to end it, I've heard those word too many times!, tell her "that everything gets worse before it gets better. don't give up now before you get to see the beautiful world that comes after the rain. never give up." being there is all we can do.

@MrGinnipe exactly. sometimes it seems like a lose lose situation. you cant bear to just stand by and watch but if you try too hard they just spiral back down into that dark abyss. just stay by her side until she realizes that this world may be filled with sadness and sorrow, but the only reason we know that those feelings exist is because we've felt happiness and joy. such a cliche but it's true. stay by her and wait til she realizes.

@KHnaruto29 Yeah, a new strategy ive tried is i showed ehr ture happieness, i showed her what its like to feel only happieness and have everything else fade away. and its a feeling she's so rarely felt. and now ive told her that the only way to feel that good again is to find herself, and then the feeling will come naturaly. and its brought some new found hope. and so far is working, its just a very unstable situation though.
