@libralady1010 Danzig was (and still is) German majority, and it was taken from Germany in the Treaty of Versailles. Austria was also illegally prevented from uniting with Germany by that same treaty. I do not condone the annexation of Poland or the slaughter of innocents, but if the Allies had been more open-minded about the idea of a German state then they could have reached a peaceful solution. Britain spent 400 years keeping the Germans divided, and they didn't want to stop.

there were aussies and kiwis,south korean marines and army forces. were America messed up was not remaining in advisory capacity and building up the arvn. from 65-68 it was like get out of the way lil yellow brother and the big boys win it for you. the marine cap programe should have been followed teaching the villigers to defend themselves a ground up help instead of top down.to many arvn leaders were more into making money for themselves instead of winning.

hey misestrelka, first of all we didnt win or loose, we didnt declare war. second, we didnt loose a single armed battle the whole "war" we did loose the pollitical fight though. we killed many, many more then they killed, they where fighting a different war then us, we wanted to go and kill all of them, or a war of attrition. they wanted to make the us people want to leave the war, so they killed in the most inhuman, horrible ways possible.

@rdyrdek10 Good catch. I was in basic Aug. - Sept. 1962. We were the last ones at Fort Ord to be trained with the M1 Garand, then had about 2 hrs. familiarization on the M14. The M1 was much more comfortable to fire than the M14. The ergonomics had changed some. Loved my M1.

This is genuine footage, I would think. I was a crewchief on a huey and remember the countless times we took them out and brought them back. They were lucky to all returning. @beaverbaseball8 What unit were you in? 60,000 Americans and 250,000+ South Vietnamese Soldiers didn't survive the war, in-part due to the poor training and orders they were given. Even today the US Army patrols in single-file, i didn't just make that up, i imagine that it is possible that soldiers fanned out whilst on patrol but by NVA/VC accounts after the war the US Military never got good at it even after 10 years.

US MIlitary thinking was so cramped that even to this day the US Military haven't changed much of their methodology, with predictable results.

If the 'Shiny Bums" listened thousands would have mad it home.

there were aussies and kiwis,south korean marines and army forces. were America messed up was not remaining in advisory capacity and building up the arvn. from 65-68 it was like get out of the way lil yellow brother and the big boys win it for you. the marine cap programe should have been followed teaching the villigers to defend themselves a ground up help instead of top down.to many arvn leaders were more into making money for themselves instead of winning.

hey misestrelka, first of all we didnt win or loose, we didnt declare war. second, we didnt loose a single armed battle the whole "war" we did loose the pollitical fight though. we killed many, many more then they killed, they where fighting a different war then us, we wanted to go and kill all of them, or a war of attrition. they wanted to make the us people want to leave the war, so they killed in the most inhuman, horrible ways possible.

@rdyrdek10 Good catch. I was in basic Aug. - Sept. 1962. We were the last ones at Fort Ord to be trained with the M1 Garand, then had about 2 hrs. familiarization on the M14. The M1 was much more comfortable to fire than the M14. The ergonomics had changed some. Loved my M1.

This is genuine footage, I would think. I was a crewchief on a huey and remember the countless times we took them out and brought them back. They were lucky to all returning. I can smell the blood and stagnant mud and water on them. I did'nt mind. They were our men. It's cool what you said. Humor is good medicine.

@beaverbaseball8 What unit were you in? 60,000 Americans and 250,000+ South Vietnamese Soldiers didn't survive the war, in-part due to the poor training and orders they were given. Even today the US Army patrols in single-file, i didn't just make that up, i imagine that it is possible that soldiers fanned out whilst on patrol but by NVA/VC accounts after the war the US Military never got good at it even after 10 years.

Disease and Starvation killed more NVA/VC than American bullets and bombs and it were the Vietnamese civilians who paid the ultimate price for American ineptitude in all things warfare related. In a decade the US Military not only failed to learn Jungle Warfare they also failed to secure even one province in Vietnam. The US Military refused all assistance offered from others who had more experience than them in Jungle/Guerilla warfare and then took their frustrations out on the people they were meant to protect

What is an even greater shame is that many thousands of US Soldiers died because the "shiny bums" wouldn't listen to advice from non-Americans. The US Military were their own worst enemy, they were predictable and lacked even the basic bush-craft and patrolling techniques of the 1ATF nor did the US Army use the Jungle Training School they had access to...

@libralady1010 Even with the meddling LBJ the US Military could still have acheived the basics such as securing provinces but that wasn't the US Military's thinking, they were more caught up with big-noting themselves and were obsessed with body-counts even when it became clear to them that body-cout reports were almost always wildly exagerated. US MIlitary thinking was so cramped that even to this day the US Military haven't changed much of their methodology, with predictable results.

The results were predictable, the US Military walked into every ambush the VC/NVA laid for them, with predictable movements and nil-bush-craft got far too many Americans killed. If the 'Shiny Bums" listened thousands would have mad it home.
